Chapter 61: Chapter 61 - New suit
"Master, why are we heading back home? I was under the assumption you wanted to visit the Larson estate." A stealth force member asked
"There’s something I need to pick up. I’ll head to the estate once I’m finished with some preparations."
Back at his home, Zion approached a room with a caution sign on the door. Above it, it read "Weapons Development," as this was the place where Zion crafted weapons from his previous life and combined or modified them with mana to amplify their properties.
"Oh, Master, what brings you here?" A male dwarf asked, approaching Zion
"Is the thing I asked for ready, Brok?"
"Ha, is it? It’s been finished for about a week now! You’re gonna love what I managed to cook up! To be honest, I’m impressed I managed to pull something off like this in the first place! The knowledge you imparted to me is amazing! Never in my life would I have even thought to create a single thing here." Brok led him to an enclosed part of the factory, his private workshop, to build anything he wanted.
For years, Zion had him work on a project that he wanted to be perfect. A weapon that would not only help him take over the world but also aid him in his quest. While Zion didn’t know if his own weapons would affect the gods, he was confident that, besides the Ancient Relics, his weapons were the most powerful in the world.
"Here it is—my masterpiece!" Brok exclaimed with a grin, presenting Zion with a small metal disk, roughly the size of a large coin. It hovered in midair, suspended by a brilliant beam of light between two metallic devices—one anchored to the floor, the other to the ceiling.
At first glance, a person would think Brok was a fraud. A dwarf who is a master blacksmith and craftsman created a coin and called it his masterpiece. Yeah, even the dwarves would call him crazy.
But the way Zion’s smile stretched from ear to ear only showed that he not only knew what it was, but he was satisfied with the result.
"You managed to shrink it down this much?" Zion asked, interested in understanding the process.
"That’s right." Brok grinned, wiping under his nose with pride. "Try it on first, I’ll explain the functions to you. Put it to your neck to start the bonding process."
Zion grabbed the coin and did as Brok said.
The coin clamped onto his neck, attaching to his brainstem, and started humming.
[Initializing! Downloading Mana signature and DNA for bonding.
10%...30%...75%...100%
Bond complete! Merging with the host. Bonding with the brain.]
The coin then sank into his skin, flesh, and muscle, warping to the pressure the coin gave off as it tore through Zion’s body. It didn’t hurt him one bit and only gave off an uncomfortable feeling.
[Bond complete! Hello Host, I am Tessa, your personal growth AI assistant. I shall connect you to the Zion Sky Network now.]
Just then, tons of information flooded Zion’s mind. Different functions and features of the ’coin’, it downloaded information about his research and knowledge that was now stored in his head, and it allowed him to access all of his weapons and technology using the Zion Sky Network.
Zion was so amused that he couldn’t stop smiling. "Woah! You really outdid yourself, Brok!"
"Heh, I crafted everything to your design while making additions, adjustments, and my own personal tweaks to make it the best it can be. I even added an update feature and an enhancement feature so it can always be improved."
"That’s amazing! Hey, what does Growth AI mean?"
"It means what you are probably thinking about, Master. Tessa, your AI will learn and grow the more you use her. Hell, even if you don’t use her, she’ll continue to grow as she’s now a permanent part of you. The more she grows, the more knowledgeable she’ll become, the better she can help you, she’ll understand you more, and the best thing yet is that she’ll act more and more human until she’ll eventually feel like a real person."
"That’s what I’m talking about. It’s nice to have you with me, Tessa."
[I am glad I was able to meet the host’s expectations.]
"So, tell me about the features, Brok."
"Hehe, with pleasure! You see, it’s connected to the Zion Sky Network you created, and instead of simply being on it, I made it the administrator. Anything you want Tessa to do on the Network, she can without going through all the access codes and whatnot."
"Smart."
"She also has access to all the knowledge ’Heaven’s Bane’ has ever collected, discovered, researched, and everything you gave us. It even has a real-time updater. She also has things like scanning areas, finding weak points or strong points in things, X-ray vision, thermal vision, telescopic vision, and more. You can read the user manual to see everything."
[A/N: Heaven’s Bane is the name of Zion’s organization]
"Nice. Tessa, make a note to remind me to read the user manual." Zion asked
[Note created]
"Now on to the good stuff. I’ve crafted the entire weapon out of the strongest material on the planet, Zionite." Brok grinned
Zion tilted his head and chuckled a bit. "Zionite?"
"Yeah, there wasn’t a name for it since it was a material that hadn’t been discovered, being deep in the ocean after all. I decided to name it after you since it was your idea to explore the oceans in the first place."
"This is why you’re the man, Brok." Zion laughed
"Damn, straight I am! Anyway, it’s 100 times stronger than the strongest known material, mythral ore, and is also 100 times more durable, mana compatible, and conductive, but also a great insulator once mana is added to it, and it’s overall just a better crafting material. It’s literally as if mythral was better with no downsides and only upsides. Now, no type of ore is perfect, but I managed to perfect it since I’m a genius."
"That you are."
"Try out the armor. Just think about putting on armor, and it will appear."
Just as he said, the armor materialized over his entire body, soft metal slithering across his skin like water flowing over stone. It wasn’t large or bulky—in fact, it was the opposite. What formed was a sleek, grey, skin-tight suit, so perfectly contoured it could easily be mistaken for flesh at first glance. It was a nanotech suit.
It covered him from the soles of his feet to the base of his neck, stopping just short of his face. The armor curled around the back of his head, hugging his temples, ears, and cheeks, but left his face and forehead exposed. It was designed to let his hair remain free, flowing unrestricted in the open air.
Zion admired this amazing piece of engineering, getting a feel for his new armor. "Feels great. Not tight, very breathable, and my movements aren’t restricted."
"Just as you wanted, everything is powered by science and not mana. Many small photon reactors are in the suit, allowing it to function without the use of mana, but that doesn’t mean it can’t use mana. There’s a mana-to-electricity converter in there, as well as a mana amplifier. The suit is also self-sustaining and self-maintaining, so you don’t need to worry about that. But if you want, you can switch to the mana-powered mode.
I’ve also added tons of weapons ranging from blunt weapons to bladed weapons, and even long-range weapons such as bows and arrows, and crossbows. But that’s not all, I’ve also built in many types of guns, missiles, bombs, lasers, and more! Finally, the suit can also fly using jet propulsion, and use the Zion Sky Network to access ANY non-carriable weapon, such as the space lasers from the satellites and nuclear missiles, and you can call any vehicle if you need."
"God damn Brock! You really went above and beyond for this project. I honestly was just expecting something minimal and functional, not anything over the top like this, at the start at least." While Zion’s end goal was to have a suit like this built, he expected there to be many prototypes that came first, yet this was the first suit Brok created.
"There are also some nice things I added to the suit for convenience’s sake. For example, the nanoparticles the suit is made of have a rune in them. Each individual nanoparticle has a rune of repair that fixes the damage the suit has taken, so you don’t need to keep creating nanoparticles. But like I said earlier, read the user manual to learn all of its functions."
"That, I will." Zion smiled, excited to test out his new toy.
"So, wanna give it a test run for a few hours?" Brok asked
"Hell yeah, and after that, I know exactly where I’ll put this bad boy in action."
