Chapter 55: Chapter 55 - New path to power

"Basically, we’ll have to forcefully implant my mana method into her body," Zion explained to Derry.

"Is that even possible?" She asked

"Yeah, I did it with Lacey when I found her. Like I said before, it wasn’t this bad, but it still worked."

"How does it work?"

"It’s her pathways that are messed up and don’t allow for mana to flow, so I just need to make mana flow in her body. I’ll create a mana field around her heart and connect her twisted pathways to it. It will definitely hurt her body, but if it’s successful, she will be better than ever."

Derry nodded. "Then let’s remove the impurities first."

"Agreed, sedate her."

After putting Audrey under, the two of them started extracting all the impurities from her body. Normally, it would automatically leave during cultivation, but in this case, they had to drain it using a tube.

"Phew, that’s done." Zion sighed as he saw a large bucket full of a black, goopy substance that smelled really bad. "Proceeding with the mana transfer."

"Ready," Derry confirmed

Zion held his hand on Audrey’s chest, slowly injecting mana into her body. He hovered around her heart, gradually forming a mana field to recreate his mana method within her body.

Thankfully, her body being devoid of mana made this process simple, since if that wasn’t the case, it would have completely failed without having any chance of working.

Zion then spoke up, "I’m upping the mana input, keep an eye on her vitals."

"Currently checking her vitals, proceed," Derry confirmed

Zion acknowledged her and then increased his mana input. Everything ended up working fine at the start. He managed to properly create a mana field around Audrey’s heart as well as perfectly recreate the first stage or level of his mana method; however, now came the hard part, applying the second level. This would require him to create stars and rings, and connect her mana paths to the mana field.

"Here goes nothing." The first thing he did was forcefully use his mana to flip her mana pathways back to being outside-in instead of inside-out. There are twelve main mana pathways in the body, with many minor ones. The minor ones didn’t matter since they would follow whatever happened to the main ones.

"Managed to secure one mana path, 11 more to go."

He did it again.

"Managed to secure the second mana path, 10 more to go."

He did the same thing for each mana path until he was down to the last one.

"On the last mana path, operating on it now." Just like the others, he turned the last mana path outside in; however, this time, things didn’t go as planned.

"She’s spiking! Her body is rejecting the mana you’ve injected into her! Using the calming solution now!" Derry announced with urgency

She used a solution that was meant to relax the body, but it didn’t work. Audrey’s body kept convulsing and rejecting anything they did to stop it.

"I’m continuing with the procedure!" Zion proclaimed

"Are you insane? You’ll kill her!"

"Not if I force her to break through."

"What do you mean?"

"We removed all the impurities from her body. This technically means that the amount of mana that will flow into her body will be equivalent to a master stage cultivator! The body naturally grows, evolves, and adapts every time a person breaks through to the next stage, This means that if I can create her stars/rings, her body should fix itself once she breaks through!"

"That’s just an assumption!"

"I call it trial and error."

"You’re testing your hypothesis on a live patient!"

"How do you think people discovered what was good to eat, and what was poisonous back in the ancient days? ’Oh no, little Timmy died from eating those purple berries. Everyone stays away from those purple berries because little Timmy died eating them.’ That’s how!"

"You’re insane!"

"Tell me something I don’t know." Zion kept at it, fixing Audrey’s last mana path and connecting it to the mana field. Thankfully, her condition got better, but unfortunately, she’s still in life-threatening danger.

"Here goes nothing." Zion put everything he had into her body. There was so much mana that the entire lab started glowing a bright whitish-blue light.

Zion could feel his mana being tugged at, which was a good sign, that meant her stars/rings were forming. After the first star formed, it made it spin so fast that it created a ring.

"One down, four more to go." But as the first ring/star formed, Audrey’s mana-thirsty body consumed every bit of mana in the area, filling its nonexistent parched belly.

The absorption was so great that even Zion was caught off guard and had to double down on the amount of mana she was pouring into her. She was like a vacuum and he was being sucked against his will.

Audrey’s nose started bleeding, and her vitals spiked beyond what could have been healthy, but fortunately, at that point, Zion had already formed all five rings/stars, and now it was up to Audrey’s body to do the rest.

Zion then looked at the now-floating Audrey, "Let’s hope this works."

Her body kept absorbing mana nonstop until finally, it had enough. Then a massive wave of mana burst from her body, sending Zion and Derry flying backward.

Zion managed to stop his momentum and catch Derry, not that she needed his help since she was also a strong mage.

When they looked back at Audrey, they saw her body slowly descending back onto the medical bed, now rejuvenated and filled with energy. She looked young and not as aged as she had been previously. Her body was now healthy and full of life, and not skinny and frail.

But the one thing that stood out in Zion’s eyes was her body. Gone was the previous skinny, malnourished, flat on both ends Audrey, and what lay before him was a youthful, beautiful woman with large breasts and a fat ass. You would never expect her to have three kids.

"Would," Zion said, nodding in appreciation at Audrey’s new MILF body.

"Pervert."

"No more sex."

"Sorry."

"That’s what I thought."

"While she rests, check this out." It had been an hour since Audrey broke through to the Master Stage, and she was still unconscious, so Zion decided to show Derry what he was talking about earlier.

"You see the places where impurities were built up?" He asked, showing the scan of Audrey’s body.

"Yeah? What of it?"

"Those are all the locations of Meridians. I have no idea how I didn’t notice it by now, but the main twelve mana pathways flow IN those twelve meridians." Zion explained

"Hmmm, I get that, but I’m not getting what you’re trying to say."

"Think about it. Mana paths flow through our hearts, and we also have a meridian in our hearts as well."

"Yeah?" Derry nodded

"We circulate mana in our heart not only to mimic dragons but because the heart can hold, circulate, and pump out mana the best throughout our body."

"Yeah?" Derry now tilted her head

"But on Audrey’s scan, ALL twelve meridians had the same levels of impurities in them. That shouldn’t be the case if only the heart circulated energy. Sure, there may be some impurities in the body here and there, especially in our mana pathways, but having that much impurity build up in those 11 places that aren’t the heart can only mean that-"

"Each meridian has the ability to circulate mana the exact same way the heart does." Derry finished, now joining the same wavelength as Zion.

"Exactly!" Zion snapped his fingers and pointed to her. "So, if we are able to replicate this, then technically, we could have 11 extra mana cores in our body, boosting our strength 11 times what it is!"

[A/N: Just a reminder. Mana field + Rings + Stars + Mana paths connecting to them = Mana Core for people. People, meaning all the humanoid races. NOT the mana cores that are crystals that exist in monsters and mana beasts. Also, Mana Method = Cultivation method, they’re interchangeable.]

"That-" Derry could barely wrap her head around Zion’s hypothesis. She was already shocked beyond belief when he showed her his mana method, but now, she wasn’t even sure what emotion would best fit her current situation.

"I’m going to go test this out right now! I’ll be back once I’m done!" He left the lab and went straight to the training room.
