Chapter 117: Chapter 117 - Zaleena’s Plea

Zion spent the rest of the day packing, researching, and getting some things together before he left tomorrow morning. He wanted to run some tests on Alice, but decided to hold that off since she had just come back from being experimented on and was turned into a demon.

Before returning to his room for the night, he sat in his lab looking at a holographic screen, staring at it blankly as he was lost in thought.

"Son?" Zaleena asked

"Hmm? Oh, hey, Mom. What’s up?"

"I wanted to ask you about the thing you talk to Lord Drakoth about."

"Alright." He pulled up a chair for her to sit on.

"So, what do you mean when you said the answer was right in front of you?" She asked, sitting down.

"Ahh. I was referring to the stages the body goes through to accumulate more power." He replied in a neutral tone.

"Body stages? What’s that?"

"It’s like a natural metamorphosis, or how dragons call it, shedding their scales or molting. This process happens naturally for them since their body naturally cultivates mana on its own without them needing to lift a finger. Drakoth even said it happens to the inside of their body as well."

"I see. But what does that have to do with us?" She asked, not seeing his point.

"Well, we don’t cultivate naturally as dragons do. Sure, our body absorbs mana, but it just sits there in our body, not doing a thing. We have to intervene ourselves just to feel mana. This translates to how our body reacts and evolves."

Zaleena shook her head. "I’m not following."

"Basically, just as we NEED to intervene just to use mana, we also NEED to intervene to evolve our bodies." He reiterated

"Hmm, if I’m understanding this correctly, you’re saying that we need to force our bodies to evolve."

"Correct!" He applauded his mother.

"Then why does body cleansing come naturally?" She asked

"That’s the thing, it doesn’t. It might seem that way, but it’s because of our actions that we rid our bodies of all that waste. Think about it, when you try to break through to the master stage, you quite literally can’t because you have to rid your body of its impurities. So you sit down, meditate, and use your mana to force all that gunk out, right?" He asked with a smile.

"Ohh, you’re right! I never thought of it that way. So, how would you even achieve these, other ’body stages’? And what would they be like? She asked, now really interested in this potential new way to gain strength.

"Based on educated guesses." ’And reading murim novels in my past life.’ "There are 4 stages after body cleansing. The first would be Bone Reconstruction, where you, well, I’m sure you get the point. Next would be Body Reconstruction, where you reconstruct the inner and outer organs. After that would be Body Transformation, which is the previous two combined, but better, I guess. And lastly would be Body Rejuvenation, where you reach the pinnacle of power, you could possibly achieve with your body, so it well, rejuvenates itself to have you start all over while keeping your current strength. Could be wrong on that last one though."

"When you say inner organs, you mean your heart and brain as well?" Zaleena asked, slightly worried.

"Those two would be included, yes." He nodded as if that was a normal thing to say.

"So are you just not worried about killing yourself while trying to achieve this power? I’m sure you’ll die if your brain or heart explodes."

Zion smirked. "Yeah, true, but I got shot in the heart yesterday and I’m completely fine right now."

Zaleena’s eyes widened, and realization settled in her mind. "Your mana method!"

"That’s right. My fucking mana method always comes in to save the day. If this were a novel, it would be regarded as plot armor."

"So, when can we start? Can we do this now? How would it even be done?" She grabbed his arms and shook him violently. She wanted that new power, and she wanted it now.

"Aghh! H-Hold on! I still need to run tests."

"I don’t care! Zion, you don’t understand how I felt that day, how powerless I was. I’m one of the strongest humans around, and I still couldn’t do anything against that monster. Not even Drakoth."

"Mom, you were fighting a demon. They are equal to angels. It’s quite normal to be outclassed by one."

"I don’t want to be outclassed. I want to dominate!"

"Me?" He hoped

"If you want." She smiled seductively

’Yes!’ He celebrated his victory in his head.

"But Mom, there is a reason why I always go through testing phases before I just say, ’Hey, gained some new power, let me share it with you all.’ They you fucking explode and die."

"Sometimes, you have to take risks." She squeezed his arms tighter.

"Okay, okay. Listen. Even if you do achieve this new power and reach the mystic stage, you still could be weaker than a high-ranked demon. Sure, you’d be a lot stronger than a normal mystic stage because of my mana method, but even Drakoth, who is a dragon in the mystic stage, got schooled, kind of."

"I know you’re working on a project that allows different energies in one vessel without them conflicting with each other."

"What? How’d you know that?! That’s classified information." He said, acting confused.

"Shut up. No, it’s not."

"Ha, I know, but still. Until further testing, I won’t be helping you with this. No offense, but your damaged pride isn’t important to me; your safety is."

"Zion-"

"Goodbye, have a nice night. Love you, Mom."

He got up to leave, breaking away from his mother’s grip. But as he took a step, she grabbed his arm once more.

"Wait! Can you at least tell me when you’ll be ready to test this?" She asked, her desperate plea resonating with her son.

"Within a year. During that time, you should get to the peak of the Transcendent stage. I’ll also have a little surprise for you during that time as well."

Smiling, she let go of his arm and stood up to leave as well.
