Black Sail -
Chapter 427: LXII. Elector
Chapter 427: LXII. Elector
East Sea.
Midsummer noon, the sea breeze was wild, and the sun beat down fiercely.
Fen had already inspected the shipyard island where the Sea God Creation was manufactured, and was on his way back to Heaven Port.
The Gold Coins that burst out after Doringger’s death.
The cash flow was limited, but the immovable assets and foundational strength were at a staggering level, 999 out of a thousand.
Mo’er was right, there was indeed a Mountain Giant there that could even walk in the sea, which had been incorporated into the Black Sail force, complete with a fully-equipped shipyard factory, just needing abundant materials, enhanced by the ideas in Mo Yutong’s head.
The so-called countries like Aran Pedan were secretly manufacturing ironclad warships.
The East Sea could also manufacture them.
Fen could no longer think of any coastal force that could resist Black Sail, continuing operations, annexing the Four Seas, and controlling the continent’s transport routes; it was not a pipe dream.
Alicia.
Although the history of Cyrus was too ancient and mostly blurred, some accurately recorded details remained; Fen, as a senator of the Upper House of the Tower Alliance and a top-tier Magician of the world, was knowledgeable and understood some history.
Cyrus, although its dynasty lasted only two hundred years, the Overlord had conquered the Western Continent, but because the territory was too large and he himself was extremely ambitious, wishing to dominate for thousands of years.
To ensure the Western Continent would never split and would always inherit the Cyrus dynastic system, to comfort the nobles around the world, preventing upheavals and wars.
A somewhat absurd system was born.
Direct descendants of the Overlord could appoint electors, these nobles possessed the voting rights of the Cyrus sovereign, and there could be up to nine electors at the same time.
And the Overlord’s descendants always had three seats.
The Overlord was a highly ambitious man; anyway, his lineage would always be the kings among kings on the judges’ panel, occasionally giving room to outsiders, giving them hope, and also allowing them to enjoy being a nominal Overlord.
Wishing to dominate until the end of time.
From the outcome perspective, aside from a short forty years governed by an outsider fulfilling their desires, during the other times within two hundred years, it was always the Overlord’s descendants who were the Boss and the Big Sister.
From a future perspective, some believe the Overlord had a grand vision, the terrifying magnitude of which was fundamentally unmanageable, and from the beginning, Cyrus was doomed to destruction, the collision of numerous cultures and ethnicities producing contradictions and conflicts that were fundamentally unmanageable, this move delayed the collapse of Cyrus, and if not for the epidemic disaster eighteen hundred years ago that led to the rise of the Divine Mother Sect, it might have ruled even longer.
Others believe the Overlord suffered a stroke, this system accelerated the destruction, without this system, it wouldn’t be the turn of the Divine Mother Sect to emerge, under a unified regime, the epidemic could have been well controlled, allowing it to last for thousands of generations.
Anyway, the spiritual banter among Cyrus’s people never ended.
But one thing is,
The ancient treaty signed between the Western Continent and the Ancient Divine Continent, was signed by the Overlord, and this treaty is still in effect today.
This finally allowed Fen...
to find an excuse.
At this point in time, the countries of the Western Continent are also discussing legitimacy, according to Cyrus’s laws, Alicia, can be appointed... an elector.
A sudden large wave made the ship sway somewhat, and the kerosene lamp inside the navigation room flickered dimly then brightly.
Fen had already executed all the core forces of the Doringger Remnant Party, the one from the Old Aran Witch Hunting Secret Department who sought refuge in the East Sea was also given dignity.
Besides, Fen didn’t need a crippled waste.
Now only one was left.
"Li Si is currently out, you have the most power in the East Sea, I can help you, trust me, with our abilities, we can completely take control of the East Sea.
You need to find that person in the Pedan Palace, okay, I’ll find him for you!
A character like you shouldn’t be serving under someone, Li Si isn’t capable of governing such a vast sea area.
A Mountain Giant, that’s a legendary monster, strike back at Heaven Port, even if it’s a Dragon, a single hand could smash it to dust.
Now this thing... is ours!"
Mo’er exhausted all his verbal artifices to sow discord between Fen and Liszt.
Fen remained silent for a while.
"You’re right, but you’re still missing one thing—even so, you’re dispensable."
With those words ended,
Fen condensed arcane ether energy in his hand, forming a dark purple dagger, and, before Mo’er could defend himself, plunged it into his throat.
Blood splattered onto Fen’s face, but he didn’t even blink as he stirred the ether dagger in Mo’er’s throat, turning all the tissues of the esophagus and trachea into mush.
Only then did he pull out the ether dagger, the energy dissipating into the air.
Mo’er clutched his throat, staggering, emitting only the sounds of gasping for air.
The infamous Black Mage, once the chief strategist of Doringger Group, met his tragic end in the navigation room.
He fell down, blood still spurting from his neck wound, already a lifeless corpse.
Fen took a handkerchief from his exquisite silk robe to wipe the blood off his face and monocle.
People outside the navigation room burst through the door, having hurried over upon hearing the commotion.
Fen did not want to end up like Mika and Morison, just sharing in the profits without any actual power—he was fostering factions within Black Sail that were loyal to him.
Those being hunted by the Tower Alliance, magicians fleeing across the world, came to join him, along with some of Fen’s old friends.
It must be said, many within Black Sail were too idealistic, still managing such a large organization with a pirate’s mindset, utterly wasteful.
Putting the likes of the One-eyed Dragon and tattooed brutes in middle management was no way to accomplish anything; the structure was too loose, and the current Black Sail was like a rapidly expanding sponge, bound to burst one day.
Fen wanted his people in all the management positions, as only these academically capable individuals could turn this sponge into a stronghold as resilient as iron.
Usurping Liszt wasn’t plausible, given his many supporters, and keeping him in place could also enhance unity, given his external reputation, but Fen needed at least half the decision-making power to achieve his goals.
This was about more than old grudges.
He would also complete the greatest feat of Necromancy, becoming the most powerful magician ever... no, unprecedented, a figure never seen even in the Ancient Era.
Magicians from the Ancient Era could even create flying dragons.
But with the completion of the Senluo Death Technique, not just dragons, but gods could be created.
"Throw him into the sea."
After leaving these words, Fen poured out the water in his cup to wash his hands as if nothing had happened.
After continuing their voyage for another day.
When Fen returned to Heaven Port and the ship docked,
he didn’t expect that, during his short absence, an unwelcome visitor had arrived.
A Beima Duchy naval ship, standing out among the numerous, dilapidated pirate ships in Anchor Bay, caused Fen some anxiety.
He hurried to inquire about the situation from the pirates at the dock.
Due to Liszt’s strategies, leading by example in looting and bypassing bloodshed by taking money from the Ship Traders Association, the island’s pirates were thoroughly subdued by Black Sail and increasingly willing to be absorbed.
The pirate questioned by Fen, also exceedingly respectful, held nothing back.
The Navy of the Beima Duchy arrived yesterday with no hostility, seemingly for discussions, and had been invited into the castle, currently engaged by the acting chairman of Black Sail Trading Company.
Fen frowned, unaware of any acting chairman.
Garscek, currently the biggest shareholder of the company, that dragon certainly lacked ambition, the acting chairman...
Was this self-proclaimed act by Dreya.
Fen was slightly displeased but still prepared to return to the castle to see what the situation was.
