Chapter 212: Chapter 176: Divine Beast Liang Gui_2

Muqiang Baoshan, followed closely by the Night Traveler behind him, stood with hands crossed and flattered:

"Brother Mu Qiang, you’re overthinking it. Who doesn’t know that Lord Yang treats you differently? Now that he has entrusted you with so many tasks, it’s because our Lord Yang intends to promote and train you. We, on the other hand, would like to accomplish something, but Lord Yang doesn’t give us the chance."

"The key issue is these tasks are without a beginning or end, and there are no witnesses. How am I supposed to investigate?"

As Muqiang Baoshan grumbled and walked, he reached the area near where the corpse of Pei Yuanjing had been destroyed, where the Strange Person and Xie Wenren were hiding. Just arriving there, the sword at his waist began to buzz.

"Hmm? Strange!"

Muqiang Baoshan looked down at the Black Sword at his waist, which seemed eager to escape from the Sword Box, and immediately became alert, looking anxiously around for something.

"What’s wrong, Brother Mu Qiang?"

asked the Night Traveler behind him, puzzled.

"This Sword of Mount Shu of mine has an early warning effect. It can sense things ordinary people can’t. Could it be that there’s someone dangerous hiding nearby?"

After saying this, Muqiang Baoshan’s gaze locked onto the hiding spot of the Strange Person and Xie Wenren, and with a furrowed brow, he looked in their direction and said in surprise:

"Why do I feel like there’s something hidden here?"

Muqiang Baoshan then reached out towards the Strange Person and Xie Wenren.

"Oh no, we’ve been discovered!"

Xie Wenren covered his mouth and shouted in a high-pitched voice.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, not only are you useless, but you also can’t keep calm! With me here, what are you afraid of?"

After giving Xie Wenren a disdainful glance, Xie Wenren finally shut his mouth, though still trembling with fear. Being caught by The Night Traveler’s Bureau meant inevitable torture. If he confessed everything, Li Ping’an would be cleared of charges, but he would be finished!

"How could there be nothing? This feeling is really strange..."

Muqiang Baoshan fumbled around the hiding spot of the Strange Person and Xie Wenren, grabbing at nothing.

The Night Traveler behind him immediately offered him a way out:

"Perhaps Brother Mu Qiang was mistaken, we can’t see anything in front of us..."

"Perhaps..."

Muqiang Baoshan then withdrew his hand, but the sword at his waist continued to buzz incessantly.

"Brother Mu Qiang, come quickly, we have discovered residual Sword Qi here!"

Muqiang Baoshan immediately ran over when called by the three Night Travelers.

Xie Wenren watched incredulously, excitedly turning to the Strange Person and asking:

"We were right in front of them; why can they not see, hear, or feel our presence?"

The Strange Person placed his hand on the head of Good Turtle and laughed smugly:

"This Good Turtle is one of the ancient Four Great Divine Turtles, amongst the ten greatest Divine Beasts, capable of myriad abilities, divine skills to reach the heavens above and the realms below, move mountains and seas, to hide and to attack. Forget about you; even I am no match for it, let alone mere Night Travelers."

"So that’s how it is..."

As Xie Wenren looked again at the Good Turtle the Strange Person was sitting on, his eyes gleamed with greed, but the Strange Person wasn’t bothered and instead smiled knowingly.

"Such powerful Sword Qi!"

Muqiang Baoshan stared at a deep pit left by the Immortal Slaying Sword and could not help but admire:

"This pit still retains imposing Mana, seeing the Cultivation, it should be above you and me. Remarkable, remarkable!"

Meanwhile, near the Dragon Locking Well, the Feathered Forest Guards and one of the Twelve Valorous Cavalry Schools, Pei Xingyan, and his group also cried out in astonishment:

"Looking at the marks in this pit, it seems to be authentic Thunder Technique!"

A Feathered Forest Guard questioned:

"Could it be, Lord Pei, aren’t there very few within all Taoist Sects Under Heaven who master the authentic Five Thunder Righteous Method?"

Pei Xingyan, stroking his chin, pondered:

"It could also be the Thunder Magic Talisman of the Kunlun Sect!"

Another Feathered Forest Guard added:

"As far as I know, the one from the Kunlun Sect attending the Grand Ritual of the Heavenly Master is Kunlun’s Three Sages He Zudao. Could it be that he was fighting someone here?"

"It’s possible, but it’s hard to say, I’m afraid even Kunlun’s Three Sages He Zudao doesn’t possess such pure mana!"

Meanwhile, at the Fallen Dragon Pit, investigators from the Imperial Edict Office, including those from the Centipede team, discovered traces where Xie Wenren had once stayed. Analyzing the remaining footprints, they said,

"This area is intact, while that area is completely flattened. That can only mean one thing: at the time of the great battle, there were at least three people, and the person standing here was just watching the show!"

The three forces discovered three clues—sword qi, thunder pits, and footprints—and they reached three conclusions.

Because this incident was too sudden and they arrived late without any eyewitnesses, the three groups had no choice but to gather together to exchange ideas, and they tentatively concluded that two people were fighting using thunder techniques and swordsmanship, while one person secretly watched.

After further investigation, they still couldn’t figure out anything and, feeling helpless, they dispersed and each went back to report.

As soon as the Night Traveler’s Bureau, the Imperial Edict Office, and the Feathered Forest Guards left, the Strange Person finally led Xie Wenren out of the smoke exhaled by Good Turtle.

"Alright, it’s safe now. You can go!"

The Strange Person said as he prepared to ride away on Good Turtle. After this ordeal, Xie Wenren, whose curiosity and fascination with the Strange Person’s identity and strength had grown after being expelled from his sect by Pei Yuanjing, watched the retreating figures of the Strange Person and Good Turtle, suddenly conceiving a bold idea, though he did not rush to show it.

"Senior, why didn’t you kill me?"

Xie Wenren immediately ran up to the Strange Person and Good Turtle, blocking their path.

"You sure talk a lot. Are you trying to catch my attention? Fine, I’ll indulge you."

The Strange Person and Good Turtle then stopped in front of Xie Wenren, and the Strange Person replied patiently with an air of seriousness,

"Why would I want to kill you? Hmm?"

To Xie Wenren’s surprise, the Strange Person instantly saw through his intention to capture his attention. However, seeing the Strange Person’s good temper, Xie grew even bolder:

"I tried to kill you earlier, but you still saved me right in front of the Night Traveler’s Bureau, the Imperial Edict Office, and the Feathered Forest Guards. I really don’t understand!"

"Hahaha, you, oh you!"

The Strange Person, holding a lantern, pointed his finger at Xie Wenren and counter-asked,

"You wouldn’t think I’m kind-hearted, would you?"

"Isn’t that the case?"

Xie Wenren replied without a second thought.

"You think too much! I am eviler than anyone!"

The Strange Person said harshly, then seriously added,

"I really admire a saying. ’Good men do not live long and wicked folks thrive for a thousand years,’ but some people stubbornly disbelieve, insisting on playing the good guy. To make them believe in this saying, to let evil widely spread in the world, I need people like you who are both wicked and evil to live well!"

"..."

Upon hearing this, Xie Wenren instantly broke out in a cold sweat, feeling an inexplicable terror,

"So, if I were a good person, would you have killed me?"

"Hahaha, exactly!"

After laughing, the Strange Person finally asked:

"Do you have anything else?"

"Ah? Oh!"

Xie Wenren, startled, quickly recovered from his fear, and to take revenge and grow stronger, boldly kneeled in front of the Strange Person and bowed repeatedly:

"Thank you, senior, for sparing my life and saving me!"

The Strange Person, squinting his eyes, finally demanded:

"Alright, enough with the act. Speak your true intentions!"

All of Xie Wenren’s careful thoughts were seen through by the Strange Person, exposed down to the barest level. Yet the Strange Person was still not angry, so after brewing his thoughts for a while, Xie finally gathered the courage to speak his truth:

"Senior, to repay your grace of not killing me today and saving my life, I, Xie Wenren, am willing to follow you, fully committed to repaying this life-saving debt!"

"Follow me? Humph!"

The Strange Person sneered coldly:

"I have too many servants already, I don’t need another one. However, I currently need a disciple, and your despicable character, selfish nature, and malicious demeanor fit just right!"

"Disciple greets Master!"

Xie Wenren didn’t even think before kowtowing to the Strange Person!
