Chapter 102: Chapter 98: Beheaded Dragon King! (Please follow!)
He had hardly fallen asleep when he heard a mournful wailing outside the house.
"Which fierce ghost dares to roam? If you disturb my sleep again, I’ll make sure even being a ghost is beyond your reach!"
Li Ping’an turned over in annoyance and continued to sleep. Just as he was dozing off, he heard the tightly closed door creak open with a gust of strange wind.
"Huh? Looking for death?"
Li Ping’an assumed that in such a deserted place there would inevitably be wandering ghosts, but he didn’t expect this ghost to be so bold as to ignore his warning and seek its own death. However, his body was extremely tired, and he was too lazy to move, so he just lay in bed, half-opening his eyes to see what reckless ghost had come causing trouble.
To Li Ping’an’s great surprise, under the moonlight outside, a water-formed, beheaded dragon whirled into the room, lunging at Li Ping’an with a dragon head held in its claws.
"This is something new! It’s my first time encountering a dragon soul."
Li Ping’an was accustomed to demons and monsters, seeing the water-formed dragon for the first time; unsure whether it was a demon, monster, or ghost, he immediately used the Divine Power: Insight into the Hidden to see the true nature of the water-formed dragon.
A Beheaded Dragon King, carrying a bloody severed head in his hand, shouted:
"Buddhist Demon of the Western Heavens, return my life! Five hundred years ago you schemed to kill me, and now you’ve deceived my nine sons into tyranny. Come out! Come out! I want your life!"
This Beheaded Dragon King was a hundred times more formidable than ordinary fierce ghosts, having cultivated a solid body. After shouting, he quickly walked to Li Ping’an’s bedside, grabbed Li Ping’an, and kept making a fuss incessantly.

"No, who the hell are you? Are you crazy? I’m a Taoist Cultivator, not the Buddha Ancestor of the Western Heavens. Open your damn eyes and see clearly before asking for a life!"
While explaining, Li Ping’an struggled, sweating all over. During this difficult confrontation, the dragon soul infuriated him, making him angry enough to kill. He grabbed the Hundred Plays Steel Rod, kicked the Beheaded Dragon King away, and yelled:
"You ignorant beast! I would have spared you because a mere ghost like you cultivating a physical form is truly remarkable. But you keep bothering endlessly, demanding my life. Enough is enough, I’m going to liberate you now!
Li Ping’an swung the rod to strike, but the Beheaded Dragon King kept babbling to himself. After being kicked away, ignoring Li Ping’an’s warning, it lunged at him again as if controlled by a puppet to claim his life.
With a clang, Li Ping’an struck the body of the Beheaded Dragon King with his rod, eliciting a scream from the dragon. Only then did it become aware of the need to dodge and hastily fled out the door.
"Now you think of fleeing? Too late!"
Li Ping’an picked up the rod and pursued. The Beheaded Dragon King transformed into a water dragon and flew up into the sky. Li Ping’an, annoyed by being disturbed in his sleep and quite furious, lost his senses. Determined to deal with the dragon soul today, he saw it escaping and, without thinking, flew up to the dragon, straddling its neck, continuously beating the dragon soul’s body.
Ao!
As the Beheaded Dragon King screamed incessantly, unable to shake off Li Ping’an, it flew wildly through the sky like a headless fly. After flying ninety-nine meters, suddenly two barrier formations appeared, enveloping Li Ping’an and the Beheaded Dragon King like a cover.
However, as the wildly flying Beheaded Dragon King seemingly didn’t see the two barriers, it crashed right into them, not only dazing itself severely but also nearly knocking Li Ping’an off its back, triggering the two barrier formations in the process.
At the spot where the Beheaded Dragon King touched the barrier formations, a giant hand suddenly materialized, grabbing the dragon body to press it downwards.
With a whoosh, the Beheaded Dragon King was instantly pressed to the ground by a giant palm, turning into a flow of well water that burrowed into Dragon Locking Well.
As the gigantic palm from the first barrier disappeared, the second barrier immediately triggered; suddenly, the ground around the rustic Dragon Locking Well brightened with Buddhist Incantation and Taoist Mantra. These densely packed phrases flashed with golden light, and the Beheaded Dragon King who had hidden in Dragon Locking Well flew out of the well once more. This time, he appeared in his original form, with his body carrying his dragon head.
"Young man, run fast!"
From the dragon head in the hands of the Beheaded Dragon King came a strange cry aimed at Li Ping’an.
"You creature, you are indeed fickle! Earlier, your gaze was dull like a puppet seeking death, but now there is a glint in your eyes, as if you have come to life again, and you’re advising me to run fast; what exactly do you mean?"
Li Ping’an had never anticipated such bizarre behavior from the Beheaded Dragon King; he faintly felt that the strangeness of the Dragon King must be related to the two barrier formations, and thus employed Divine Power: Insight into the Hidden to take a closer look, and immediately broke out in a cold sweat.
"This tiny Fallen Dragon Pit actually conceals astounding techniques!"
Li Ping’an saw that around Dragon Locking Well at the center, stretching outward for about half a mile, there were two profound and mysterious barrier formations, one of Taoist Mantra and the other of Buddhist Incantation. If these formations were set up five hundred years ago, and had withstood five hundred years of weathering without showing any sign of weakening,
it was evident how formidable the master who laid the barriers was, and it also indicated that the Beheaded Dragon King was no ordinary Well Dragon King!
As he was considering this, the dragon head of the Dragon King cried out again:
"Are you not running? Would you not just be throwing your life away then? Then don’t blame this king!"
After saying this with regret, the dragon head’s eyes suddenly lost all light, reverting to the lifeless gaze from before, becoming as motionless as a wooden chicken, but screaming as if claiming a life:
"Thunder Technique, Heaven Extinguishing Earth Destroying!"
The Beheaded Dragon King pointed one hand toward the sky and chanted the spell. In an instant, the sky above the Fallen Dragon Pit, initially clear with a moon shining and stars twinkling for miles, clouded over within a half-mile radius, filled with flashes of lightning and rumbling thunder, suddenly bringing forth a blood rain and a foul wind.
Boom!
Foul wind and blood rain erupted simultaneously, with thunderbolts striking down, as if a Heavenly God controlling thunder and lightning from the clouds, wielding lightning as a sword and thunder as a cleaver, ceaselessly slashing at Li Ping’an. This earth-shattering scene must have drawn the attention of the people of Chang’an City, but outside the Fallen Dragon Pit, everything remained as usual.
A purple-white bolt of lightning struck directly at Li Ping’an who, fortunately reacting quickly, instantly leaped back five meters, only to see the spot hit by the lightning gouged into a massive pit, with the ground inside the pit completely scorched.
"Amazing technique! What astonishing power from Thunder Technique!"
Ever since Li Ping’an had learned about the Thunder Technique from Yiye Zhiqiu, he had been eager to learn it, but he had never had the chance. Now, witnessing the impressive power of the Dragon Clan Thunder Method, his admiration and obsession only grew, pondering that if he could use this technique as his means of attack, he would surely be able to protect himself in this chaotic world dominated by demons.
Boom!
Just as Li Ping’an steadied himself, another bolt of lightning came crashing down urgently. Left with no means to counter, Li Ping’an could only continuously dodge.
However, the faster he dodged, the faster the lightning struck, as if playing a game of whack-a-mole, he was exhausted from running.
