Chapter 115: Chapter 101: The Child Who Never Grew Up_2

Li Weiguo mused, "Our bureau plans to upgrade the Criminal Investigation Squad to a Criminal Investigation Team and the Traffic Police Squad to a Traffic Police Team. Are they copying the City Bureau?"

"It should be. This change comes from the top down. Several divisions at the Provincial Department became brigades, and several sections at the City Bureau became teams. At the county level, it’s definitely becoming teams."

"So from now on, do we call Scholar Yu ’Director Yu’ or ’Director Yu’?"

"Let’s call him Director Yu. It sounds more impressive, ha ha ha."

"Okay."

...

Han Yu had no idea that the station had a very important meeting scheduled for today, nor was he aware of the station’s upcoming major operation.

He introduced Liang Xiaoyu to the Captain, Political Commissioner, Chief Engineer, Shao Lei, and other onboard police officers, and then took Liang Xiaoyu for a tour of the large passenger ship.

After going around twice, upstairs and downstairs, inside and out, Shao Lei arranged for them to watch a video, no ticket required!

It was Liang Xiaoyu’s first time traveling far from home and also her first time watching a video. For her, this was the legendary traveling experience, and she was overjoyed and thrilled beyond measure.

At four twenty in the afternoon, the loudspeaker announced that the passenger ship was about to arrive at Sixteen Piers Pier and reminded the passengers to prepare to disembark.

Han Yu hurriedly grabbed the basket of eggs he had bought the previous afternoon from Huang Jiangsheng and pulled Liang Xiaoyu out of the video hall.

Shao Lei happened to be at the door and saw him, teasing, "Salted Fish, why don’t you let Xiao Yu go with me, so she won’t affect your love life."

"Brother Shao, Xiao Hui is my neighbor. I treat her like a sister; I came to give her these eggs!"

"You also treat me like a brother, calling me ’Brother Shao’ so sweetly. Why don’t you bring me eggs?"

"Brother Shao..."

"If you’re dating someone, just say so. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, and it’s not a disgrace."

"I really just came to see her."

"Alright, alright. You can take your time when you get ashore, ha ha ha."

So young and already learning to date, and even bringing an audience to boot.

Shao Lei had never seen something so funny before. The passenger ship was about to dock, so he couldn’t tease them any further. Patting giggling Liang Xiaoyu, who was grinning foolishly, he straightened his uniform and went to perform his duties.

The eggs weighed about ten pounds, and with the bamboo basket, probably around fifteen pounds total.

Liang Xiaoyu was worried he couldn’t carry it and tugged on his military overcoat, "Salted Fish, let me help you."

"No need, I can carry it myself."

The passengers began to disembark. The crowd was large. Han Yu looked back and reminded, "Stay close, don’t get lost. If by any chance we do get separated, go find the onsite police."

"I know, I won’t get lost."

It was her first time traveling far, and the dizzying sight of the tall buildings and skyscrapers on shore excited yet somewhat scared Liang Xiaoyu. Though she said she knew what to do, she kept reminding herself not to get lost.

Following the crowd out of the pier exit, Han Yu was looking around when he suddenly heard someone shouting excitedly, "Salted Fish, Salted Fish, I’m over here!"

She really came. Today, she was dressed even prettier than before, wearing a very fashionable and stylish red woolen coat, eagerly waving over here on tiptoes.

Han Yu’s heart warmed up, and he called back, "I see you, Xiao Hui, what time did you get here, how long have you been waiting?"

In all this time away from home, his two sisters had never asked how he was doing in East Sea.

His father and mother were both at sea and likewise didn’t have time to ask.

These few months, Salted Fish was the only one who had written to him and called, and today, he even came from afar to see him. Lin Xiaohui was truly overjoyed and excited, holding back tears, and said, "Not long, I just got here too."

Han Yu, not wanting to lose Liang Xiaoyu, pulled Liang Xiaoyu along to meet her, smiling at her as he asked, "How did you get here?"

"By bus, Salted Fish, who is he..."

"He is Liang Xiaoyu from our police station; I mentioned him to you in the letter before."

"I remember now. Are you guys hungry? I’ll take you to eat."

"We’re not hungry; we’ve eaten on the ship."

"What’s this?"

"Eggs, for you. I don’t get out much, and neither do you. If I didn’t bring something, how could you explain to your aunt when you went back?"

He really thought of everything for her...

Lin Xiaohui felt a twinge in her heart, feeling as if Salted Fish was the only relative she had in this world.

She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down and led him and Liang Xiaoyu to the riverside viewing platform, choked up with emotion, and said, "Thank you."

"It’s just a basket of eggs; it’s nothing to thank me for." Han Yu handed the eggs to Liang Xiaoyu, who was staring dumbfounded at the tall buildings and skyscrapers, and turned his gaze back to Lin Xiaohui.

"What are you looking at?" Lin Xiaohui felt a bit embarrassed being gazed at.

Coming to his senses, Han Yu hastily asked, "Xiao Hui, aren’t you cold wearing so little?"

"I’m not cold."

"If you’re cold, I can give you my coat; I’m wearing layers underneath."

"No need, I’m really not cold."

Lin Xiaohui felt his and Liang Xiaoyu’s clothes looked rather plain, but it was amusing and fun to her. Glancing around and seeing that not many people were paying attention, she took out a tape measure from her pocket, "But you still need to take off the coat."

Han Yu asked instinctively, "What for?"

"I’m going to measure you."

"Measure for what? I don’t have anything worth measuring."

"I’ve learned tailoring. Hurry up and take it off; let me get your measurements, and I’ll make you a new outfit for the New Year."

"You’ll make it for me?"

"If I’m not making it for you, why did I bring the tape?"

Han Yu was overjoyed and quickly shed his overcoat.

Liang Xiaoyu was extremely envious. He didn’t dare to keep staring at Salted Fish’s girlfriend, so he took the coat and turned around hastily.

As Lin Xiaohui measured him, she laughed, "Why don’t you ever grow taller?"

Han Yu smelled her faint hair fragrance and complained, "I don’t know either. Actually, I eat a lot, and the food at our station is pretty good too. We eat fish every day and drink fish soup."
