Chapter 490: Chapter 237 The Ugly Daughter-in-Law Always Has to Meet the In-laws (2 more updates) _3
"How could I, such a grown person at home, accidentally set the house on fire?"
Seeing the troubled look on Lily Snow’s face, Jane Quinlan couldn’t help but turn her head and laugh.
Lily Snow was just too well protected and too naive.
She didn’t pack when she left because she had too much luggage and couldn’t move it by herself.
Jane Quinlan gave her the key to the apartment opposite, telling her that she could come and pack her luggage anytime, even if they were all at work.
After Lily Snow took the key, Jane Quinlan, feeling somewhat tired, went back to bed and took a nap.
When she woke up, she found the lights in the house were on.
She sat up abruptly, and Kay Forrest, who had just changed his clothes and was arranging his tie, was startled and exclaimed, "My goodness, how did you wake up so suddenly without any transition?"
Jane Quinlan blinked and said, "What kind of transition do you expect? For you to play Prince and wake me with a kiss?"
Kay Forrest gave her a thumbs up: "That’s not a bad suggestion. How about we rehearse that scene all over again?"
Jane Quinlan flung the covers aside and got out of bed: "Are you crazy? When did you get back?"
"Just took a moment to change clothes. Luckily, you woke up on your own, so I didn’t have to call you. Change into these clothes and come out with me, oh, and put on some light makeup."
Kay Forrest said, pointing to a set of light yellow dress on the chair.
Jane Quinlan walked over and took a look: "Such a proper dress, it doesn’t seem like your style."
"Hmm, it does fall a bit short of my taste, but you can only wear this tonight, for your own good," he responded.
He looked at his watch: "Give you fifteen minutes to change, wash your face, and put on makeup. Can you make it?"
"Absolutely," she replied.
Kay Forrest turned and left the room to pick shoes.
Jane Quinlan was quick, and came out in ten minutes.
Kay Forrest handed her a pair of white high heels, and as she put them on, she said, "You’re going to keep it a secret till the end about where you’re taking me, right?"
He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and kissed her ear: "Don’t worry, I won’t sell you. Let’s go."
She expressed her helplessness; indeed, he wouldn’t sell her, but... she was curious. What place was it that he always kept so mysterious?
After exiting the house, Kay Forrest drove, navigating expertly to the Chinese-style villa area in Anchester.
Jane Quinlan had heard about this area many times but had never been there.
Indeed, as an ordinary person like her, she really had no need to come here in her lifetime.
As she was looking around the impressive villa area with its green architecture, Kay Forrest had already stopped in front of an old villa.
Kay Forrest unbuckled his seatbelt: "We’ve arrived, let’s get out."
Jane Quinlan peered inside and exclaimed, "Wow... quite impressive, what place is this?"
"My home."
"Your home?" Jane Quinlan got excited, her voice involuntarily rising several decibels.
"Kay Forrest, I’m faint-hearted, don’t scare me.
Do you mean... this is your father’s house, right?"
"Yes, I brought you here today to visit my dad," Kay Forrest looked at her candidly. "We’ve slept together; I have to be responsible."
Jane Quinlan grabbed the seatbelt, "No, I’m not mentally prepared yet, you don’t have to rush being responsible."
"That won’t do, I’m not the old Kay Forrest anymore, a sense of responsibility must be present.
And what preparations do you need? It’s just going in for a meal.
I didn’t tell you in advance because I was afraid you’d be nervous.
Besides, an ugly wife has to meet her in-laws eventually."
Jane Quinlan’s heart thumped wildly, she gripped the steering wheel tightly: "I’m scared to go in; I’m afraid your dad will pay me off with a check to leave."
"And then?"
"I’m also afraid I might not withstand the temptation, give your dad a discount, and choose to leave with the check."
Kay Forrest leaned forward: "Then you’ve miscalculated.
Choosing the check is a fixed amount, but having me is priceless.
Having been with me for so long, and you can’t even figure this out, I really worry for you."
He said, already bending down to unbuckle her seatbelt for her.
After getting out of the car and opening the door for her, Jane Quinlan seemed to have no choice but to get out.
After the car, Kay Forrest opened the trunk and took several boxes of nutritional products out.
Jane Quinlan couldn’t help but wonder when these were prepared.
He walked ahead, rang the doorbell, and a maid came to open the door.
Seeing him, the maids bowed respectfully: "Young Master."
Jane Quinlan stood nervously on the spot, Kay Forrest looked back at her, "Why the daze? Come on in."
Taking courage, she quickly followed him through the gate.
Walking into his family’s villa courtyard, she realized that the villa was indeed majestic.
The villa was built halfway up the hill, and reaching the house required climbing several steps, but it was because of this mid-mountain design that the courtyard was beautifully picturesque, like an ancient garden.
With complete mountain-water pavilions and towers.
Suddenly, she felt, she and he really were worlds apart.
Seeing her walking slowly, Kay Forrest shifted the nutritional products to one hand and freed the other to quickly pull her up the steps into the villa.
Inside, the villa was a Chinese-style building, quite scholarly.
Jane Quinlan followed him with the maids bowing deep as they walked to the villa’s main hall.
In the hall, an old man looking to be about sixty years old sat in a wheelchair, staring imposingly at her and Kay Forrest.
Jane Quinlan’s heart involuntarily contracted, feeling inexplicably nervous.
"Jane Quinlan, let me introduce you, this is my dad."
Jane Quinlan quickly bowed and greeted, "Hello Uncle."
Grayson Forrest looked sternly at Jane Quinlan: "What’s wrong Miss Quinlan, do I look that scary?"
