Chapter 462: Chapter 227 This damn woman, she actually went on a blind date?_4
Seeing her giggling foolishly to herself, Kay Forrest couldn’t help but shake his head. He’s bewitched again, this woman ah...
Back at the company, Jane Quinlan secretly pulled Daisy Zenith into the break room.
Daisy asked, "Have you eaten yet? If not, I can give you two egg yolk pies."
"I’ve eaten, I’ve eaten. If I couldn’t even manage to get a meal while running errands with the boss, that would mean the boss is too stingy, wouldn’t it?
I wanted to ask you something. Didn’t you say last time that you’d introduce me to your cousin?
Does your cousin have someone now or not?
If not, introduce me."
Daisy Zenith turned around in surprise and looked at her.
"What’s the situation? Has the blockhead that is your brain finally seen the light?
Didn’t you still tell me the day before yesterday that you don’t need a man?
Did you feel like you’re better off spending the second half of your life by yourself?
It’s been less than two days, how come you changed your mind faster than flipping a face?"
Jane Quinlan slapped her arm: "Stop ragging on me, just hurry and set it up.
I’ve given it some thought, I’ve been lacking a man in my life lately.
I’ve had too many bouts of bad luck recently; I need a man to bring me some joy."
Daisy pinched her butt: "Wait up, I’ll call my cousin and set a time for you."
"Hurry up, hurry up."
While Daisy Zenith went to make the call, Jane Quinlan was alone in the break room, drinking coffee and playing with her phone.
Xavier walked in from outside, and upon seeing Jane Quinlan, they both felt a moment of discomfort.
Jane Quinlan, holding her teacup, was about to leave, but Xavier extended his hand to stop her.
She looked up: "What’s the matter? This is the company, you know."
"Since when did things between us become so cold that we can’t even exchange words," Xavier said, his voice a bit downcast.
Jane Quinlan looked at him — his question was really quite blunt, didn’t he know why?
"After we broke up," she said, her expression calm.
"Yeah, after the breakup, everything changed.
Even my relationship with your brother changed because of you."
"Don’t splash dirty water on me, I didn’t start this."
"I understand," Xavier nodded bitterly: "This morning, I called your brother, he said your boyfriend got him a position at Skyward Group, right?"
Jane Quinlan remained silent.
"When I heard the news that you had a boyfriend, and that he was so outstanding, I was actually jealous."
Jane Quinlan didn’t respond and stepped out, feeling no need to listen to this.
But Xavier softly said: "Jane, if I tell you I regret it, will you believe me?
I wish the betrayal had never happened, that I had never caused you pain, never hurt you.
We’d still be that happy secret couple."
Jane Quinlan pursed her lips, and after a moment, she exhaled: "Actually, there’s nothing about happiness or unhappiness to speak of. The fact that we’ve come to this point just proves we weren’t meant to be. Maybe from the very beginning, we weren’t suitable for each other, and this is the best ending for you and me."
After speaking, she left. The person she is now has changed, she believes that the past is past, and the future is what is most worth looking forward to.
The blind date was set rather hastily for six in the evening.
At five-thirty, Jane Quinlan asked Kay for leave saying she had some matters to take care of.
Kay asked her what it was all about, which she refused to disclose.
She plans to show up with a boyfriend and surprise him, so of course she won’t tell.
Kay approved her leave, and she hurriedly left the company to take a taxi to the blind date location.
With Jane Quinlan absent, Kay Forrest could only come out and pour himself water.
The moment he left his office, he overheard Daisy Zenith discussing Jane Quinlan’s blind date.
In his view, Daisy Zenith must have deliberately mentioned it for Xavier to hear.
But he felt totally irked by it, a blind date? That damned woman, she was actually going on a blind date?
Is she looking to rebel?
