Chapter 446: Chapter 223 Jane Quinlan You Rascal_2
Listening to the beeping sound on the phone, Kay Forrest raised an eyebrow, what an impatient woman.
He was thinking about asking if she wanted him to bring her something to eat.
After finishing the call, Sue returned to her side, "Auntie, can you cook?"
"I can, why?"
"I didn’t have dinner, and I’m really hungry now. Can we make something to eat?"
Jane Quinlan squatted down and tenderly rubbed this little girl, who was missing a mother’s love. She really was a heartbreaker.
"Sure, I haven’t eaten either. Come on, let Auntie see what ingredients you have at home."
She rolled up her sleeves and walked over to the fridge, opening it to find it well-stocked with everything.
"It seems your dad knows how to cook."
"Yeah, my dad said he couldn’t cook before, but he learned for my sake.
Because he didn’t want me to eat outside food, which isn’t clean.
And he didn’t want what I eat to taste bad, so he really improved his cooking skills."
Jane Quinlan couldn’t help but ruffle Sue’s hair as she boasted about her dad.
This Adrian Golden didn’t toil in vain after all, at least his daughter understood his efforts.
She took out a zucchini and an egg, walking into the kitchen.
She washed rice and cooked porridge, and soon enough, the zucchini and scrambled eggs were served on the table.
To make sure the little one was full, she also made a bowl of mushroom noodles for her.
It was the first time Sue tasted her cooking, and she ate a lot, which made Jane Quinlan feel very accomplished.
Cooking for a little kid like this is much better.
Thinking of someone like Kay Forrest, who is such a picky eater... Thinking about Kay, she frowned. Why am I thinking of him? Crazy.
But he should probably be home by now.
She looked up at the time, almost 9:30. Children should be asleep by this time, right?
She coaxed Sue into the bedroom to rest.
Sue obediently took a storybook and followed her into the bedroom.
Jane Quinlan read a story to her, and soon Sue dozed off, resting in her arms.
After laying Sue down, she picked up her phone, initially intending to call Kay Forrest.
But she noticed a message on her phone and opened it casually.
It was from Adrian Golden: "Miss Quinlan, sorry for the trouble. Is Sue asleep?"
Jane Quinlan quickly replied, "She just fell asleep, not sure if it’s too late. She sleeps soundly, please don’t worry."
Soon, Adrian Golden replied again: "Thank you very much."
After replying to the text, Jane Quinlan forgot she initially picked up the phone to call Kay Forrest. She got out of bed and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Afterwards, she lay in bed and fell asleep in no time.
At the break of dawn, she got up to make breakfast.
With the fridge at Adrian Golden’s place being fully stocked, she made Sue an egg pancake and boiled a cup of milk.
When Sue got up, she said she had never had an egg pancake before because her dad didn’t know how to make it.
She ate it with great enjoyment, finishing a whole big one.
After eating, Sue said, "Auntie, you have to go to work, right?"
Jane Quinlan nodded, "Yes, should I take you to kindergarten first?"
Sue shook her head and smiled, "Auntie, no need to take me to kindergarten, my teacher comes to my house to pick me up every day.
She lives in the next neighborhood over, and I can walk with her.
Auntie, you can go to work, thank you for keeping me company last night, your cooking was great."
Jane Quinlan smiled and ruffled her hair, "You’re welcome. I enjoyed being with Sue last night too. I’ll be going now. Let’s meet again next time, okay?"
"Okay, Auntie, I’ll see you off."
How could this child be so considerate?
She shook her head, "No need, Auntie can go by herself, you stay home and wait for the teacher."
Jane Quinlan quickly tidied up, put on her coat, and headed out with her bag.
She glanced at the time while jogging downstairs, but as she exited the building, the car at the door startled her, and the person inside looked sulky, eyeing her.
Seeing her come out, the person in the car got out and went to the passenger seat, "I’m so sleepy my brain’s a bit scrambled, so you’ll drive."
Jane Quinlan looked at him in shock, "What do you mean, did you not... did you not go home last night?"
"What else did you think?"
Jane Quinlan was speechless, "Why didn’t you go? Sleeping in the car must’ve been uncomfortable."
"I hardly slept at all; how was I supposed to know if I left, whether that Adrian Golden might suddenly come back.
You and I both don’t know him well.
People these days, you know someone’s face, not their heart. It’s better to be cautious."
