Chapter 419: Chapter 215 You Don’t Have a Crush on Me, Do You?_3

It’s rare to go out for a movie and end up with a fiasco.

After calming the girl down, Jane Quinlan pulled her over to Kay Forrest and asked worriedly, "That Mr. Adrian Golden hasn’t already left, has he?"

Kay stayed silent for a moment, then thought for a bit, "Let’s call the police then."

Looking at the increasingly anxious little girl, Jane finally nodded.

Kay went aside to call the police, and before long, officers arrived.

After understanding the specific situation, they began a search.

Some went to check the surveillance, while others searched the mall.

Finally, someone found the child’s father unconscious in the restroom.

After taking him to the hospital for a check-up, they found the child just had a mild case of hypokalemia.

Jane hugged the little girl in the hospital courtyard to comfort her, while Kay helped look after things inside.

A little past four, Kay came out with the child’s father, who was better after taking oral potassium supplements.

As soon as she saw her dad, the little girl immediately ran excitedly toward him.

Her dad held her tightly, and the little girl burst into tears.

"Daddy, sob, sob, are you okay?"

"Alright darling, daddy’s fine now, don’t worry."

Kay walked over to Jane and whispered, "I’m exhausted."

Jane turned to look at him and gave a light smile, "I’ll cook you something nice to reward you when we get back."

"Good thing you conquered my stomach, or else I’d be really angry today."

Jane chuckled and crossed her arms, "I’m in a good mood; we did something really meaningful today."

Adrian Golden, holding his daughter, walked up and gave them a slight bow, "Thank you both for saving us today. I can’t imagine what terrible things might have happened without you."

Kay crossed his arms, "So, you see, it’s better to take your partner with you when you go out.

These days, a man taking a child out alone can be dangerous."

Jane nudged him with her elbow, and Kay glared at her, "What are you doing?"

Adrian’s eyes darkened a bit, "My wife passed away four years ago due to complications during Sue’s birth."

Kay frowned, "I’m sorry."

Adrian gave a bitter smile, "Thank you for today."

"Mr. Golden, no need to thank us. Sue is very cute; it was fun playing with her all afternoon."

The girl looked a bit reluctant, "Sister, can I call you sometime?"

"Of course," Jane turned her head, opened her bag, took out a note, wrote down a number, and handed it to the girl, "I’ll be waiting for you to contact me, Sue."

The girl looked at the phone number with delight, then looked at Adrian, "Dad, I really like sister; she doesn’t have a boyfriend yet, you know."

She winked mischievously at Adrian as she spoke.

Adrian awkwardly raised his hand to cover Sue’s mouth, "Sue, don’t say such things as a child."

Kay caught the meaning, realizing the little girl was trying to find herself a stepmother.

He walked over to Jane, put his arm around her shoulders, and with a grin, said to Sue, "Sue, who told you sister doesn’t have a boyfriend?"

"Sister said so herself."

Kay lightly tapped Jane’s forehead with his finger, "Why are you pulling the wool over a child’s eyes?"

Jane turned to look at him; when did she ever tease the child?

But before she could speak, Kay already turned to Adrian, "We had planned to watch a movie today, but... we should still have time to catch a show now that you’re fine; we’ll be off then."

"We’re really sorry."

Kay waved his hand and pulled Jane away.

Jane initially wanted to say goodbye to Sue, but she was whisked away directly.

After walking quite far, Jane wondered aloud, "Why were you so unfriendly to that father-daughter pair?"

Kay rolled his eyes at her, "Did you not catch that little girl’s hint about wanting you to be her stepmom?"

Jane smiled silently, "She’s just a young girl, speaking off the cuff.

I didn’t take it to heart; why did you?"

This man, how is he not even as sensible as a five-year-old?

Kay snorted; what annoyed him was Adrian’s faint smile when he realized she didn’t have a boyfriend.

Even if she really didn’t have a boyfriend, it wouldn’t be a guy with a kid like him who’d have a chance, right?

"Anyway, you just have a broad mind; what a buzzkill on a perfectly good weekend."

Jane turned to him with a chuckle, "What are we having for dinner? Let’s go to the market together to buy some groceries."
