Chapter 417: Chapter 215 You Don’t Have a Crush on Me, Do You?
After Kay Forrest hooked her shoulder and left the Turner Family villa, Jane Quinlan slipped out of his arms.
"Hey."
Kay Forrest looked at her with a languid posture: "Transforming as soon as you step out the door, you really can’t pretend for more than three seconds. Tell me, what are you yelling about now?"
"Why did you tell others that I’m a glutton? Where am I a glutton?"
He sized her up and sneered, "Having a huge appetite and not gaining weight from anything you eat, doesn’t that count?"
Hmm, truth be told, she quite liked the latter remark.
She snorted and didn’t say anything else.
He then tossed the car keys to her and got into the passenger seat.
Jane Quinlan caught the keys and asked in confusion, "What’s this for?"
"What do you think? I just had some red wine in Oliver Turner’s study; I can’t drive, don’t you know?"
Jane Quinlan hissed, truly unaware, knowing he still drank when he had to drive.
But considering the car was a luxury model... she opened the door and got into the car: "Where’s our next destination?"
"Let’s check out Chengtian Mall."
"Do you have something to do there?" she asked perplexedly.
He thought for a moment and nodded: "Sort of."
Jane Quinlan didn’t think too much, started the car, and drove off in her assistant mode.
Along the way, Kay Forrest dozed off.
When they were about to reach the mall, her phone rang.
Kay Forrest picked it up and said, "Benjamin Quinlan."
"It’s my cousin."
"Do you have a Bluetooth headset?"
Jane Quinlan shook her head, just about to say ’no worries, I’ll call him back later,’ but he had already swiftly answered the call.
"Hello."
Jane Quinlan turned her head and glared at him: "Hey, why are you answering my phone?"
Kay Forrest pointed forward: "Focus on driving."
The voice on the phone paused for a while before responding with confusion: "Hello... I’m Jane’s cousin."
"Hello, she’s driving right now and can’t really take your call."
"Car? Jane doesn’t have a car."
"It’s mine."
"You... are her boyfriend?"
Kay Forrest turned his head and raised an eyebrow while smirking: "Yes."
"Hmm," Benjamin Quinlan felt a bit embarrassed; this man was quite arrogant.
"Then please tell Jane to give me a call back after she gets off the car."
"Is it something urgent?"
"I want to arrange a time to have a meal with her."
"I will pass your message to her later. Next time you make an arrangement, I hope her ex-boyfriend isn’t present."
With that, Benjamin Quinlan felt even more embarrassed.
Jane Quinlan glared at Kay Forrest: "Hey, why are you saying this to my brother?"
"I’m your boyfriend, don’t I have the right to say this?
Just now when I went to pick you up, you were arguing with your ex-boyfriend at the restaurant entrance; am I not allowed to be upset?
If I were doing that with my ex-girlfriend, wouldn’t you get upset?
Plus, I say this for your own good.
Have you forgotten how that guy hurt you? If you’re thinking of letting bygones be bygones, I’m not agreeing with it."
He spoke in a gentle tone, but his words were directed into the phone’s microphone.
Benjamin Quinlan, on the other end of the line, heard everything clearly.
Hearing Jane’s boyfriend speak this way, he felt his prior act of inviting Xavier to the dinner was somewhat inappropriate.
Jane’s boyfriend seemed very concerned about her.
He chuckled and said, "Alright, I won’t repeat it."
"Good, then I’m hanging up now."
After hanging up, Benjamin Quinlan turned to Xavier and said, "Looks like Jane is quite happy now.
Her boyfriend really cares about her."
"Who exactly is her boyfriend?"
"That... I’m not sure, I haven’t met him," he stretched out a hand and placed it on Xavier’s shoulder: "Honestly, when you told me you broke up with Jane because of incompatibility, I didn’t quite believe it.
I watched Jane grow up; I know her personality.
She never dislikes someone without a reason.
I’d rather believe that you were the one who left her.
But... seeing how happy she is now, I won’t dwell on your past issues. From now on, just be happy separately."
Xavier’s eyes slightly furrowed, his fists clenched, feeling uneasy inside.
They had only broken up a few days ago, and she had already found a new boyfriend.
Could it be that she had already been considering this?
The thought distressed him greatly.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like her, but due to the conditions of their families...
Kay Forrest put down her phone: "What do you think, did I help vent your anger?"
Jane Quinlan pursed her lips without a word, but in her heart, she had to admit, this man was quite skilled in speaking.
