Chapter 231: Chapter 179: The Thing He Worried About Most Still Happened
"There’s no wall in this world that doesn’t have a crack. Let’s start investigating now."
"But it’s been so many years. How do we find the evidence?"
Although she used this excuse to bring Richard back, in truth, she still lacked confidence.
"The vehicle from the accident back then was never destroyed, nor did I have anyone repair it.
I just left it in the old storage at our dealership.
We’ll first get the car out and check it over for any clues.
As long as we’re determined, God won’t let us down."
"Why did you think of keeping the accident vehicle?" Faye was quite surprised; she thought the vehicle had long been disposed of.
"The car Dad was driving back then was the first gift Richard bought for Dad using the money he saved from his job.
I remember Dad telling me how much he treasured that car.
I thought, since the car had such extraordinary meaning for Dad, we couldn’t just scrap it.
I don’t have much, but there’s plenty of space to keep a car."
Faye looked at him from his embrace: "We must find out the truth.
If my parents were indeed murdered, I will never let the culprit go.
Even if I can’t kill him with my own hands, I will ensure he faces justice."
Hunter nodded: "Don’t worry, I’ll help you."
He held her once more: "It’s late. Let’s rest tonight and talk about everything else tomorrow, okay?"
Faye nodded. After a round trip to Malaysia today, she was indeed quite tired.
"I don’t feel like taking a shower." Faye pouted, looking at him.
"Then don’t." Hunter lay down with her, and Faye fell asleep shortly after, but he couldn’t sleep, staring wide-eyed at the ceiling.
He always knew Faye was smart and had many admirers.
All these years, with Faye persistently chasing after him, he had almost forgotten how outstanding she was.
If it weren’t for Faye’s determination and focus, she might have been swept away by someone else long ago.
Now he truly felt a sense of relief.
The matter with his in-laws needed careful planning because if it wasn’t a simple accident, the truth would inevitably cause immense pain to Faye and her brother.
This needed some serious consideration on how to handle it.
Early in the morning, when Hunter woke up, Faye was still sound asleep. He quietly got up, turned off the alarm Faye had set, and went to the guest room to wash up before heading to the children’s room.
The two kids were just waking up. Miya asked sleepily, "Daddy, is Mommy back?"
"She’s back and sleeping in her room."
"Really? I want to see Mommy." Miya threw off the blanket and was about to get out of bed.
Hunter walked over, ruffled her hair, and kissed her forehead: "Sweetie, Mommy came back very late last night. She’s been busy all day and hasn’t rested properly.
Let her sleep a bit longer, and go see her when she wakes up, alright?"
Miya nodded understandingly: "Okay then."
"Alright, Daddy needs to go to work. You two go downstairs and have breakfast with Uncle Rivers."
Hunter took the two kids downstairs. He casually ate a few bites of breakfast before leaving.
When Faye woke up, the sun was already high in the sky outside the window.
She groggily reached for her phone, glanced at it, then put it down and closed her eyes again.
But immediately, her mind cleared, and she jumped out of bed to take a look.
Eleven o’clock? Faye blinked and quickly got dressed.
After a quick wash, she rushed downstairs.
Darnley was sitting at the foot of the stairs playing with puzzles.
Faye ran down like a gust of wind, nearly disrupting his puzzle.
"Faye, slow down, or you’re going to take off."
Faye stopped in front of him and kissed him: "Sweetie, Mommy’s in a hurry to go to work. You and Miya be good and listen at home, okay?"
Miya, lounging on the sofa playing house with her dolls, stared: "Mommy, what’s wrong with you?"
Faye ran over and kissed her cheek: "Mommy has to go to work. You two be good, okay?
Uncle Rivers, I’m off. I’m late today, and there’s work at the company."
"Oh dear, Miss, take your time."
"Got it."
Faye got into her car and drove onto the main road, put on her Bluetooth headset, and dialed Hunter’s number.
"Hey, why didn’t you wake me up this morning? I’m late."
"Slept in till now?"
"Yes." Faye was extremely frustrated: "It’s so strange, I remember setting the alarm before I slept, why didn’t it go off? It’s driving me crazy."
