Chapter 228: Chapter 176: One Must Bear the Consequences of the Causes They’ve Sown Themselves
"I saw Richard Townsend at the police station, the officers there said that only if Director Hansen withdraws the charges against Richard, will they let him go."
"Didn’t you say that Director Hansen never does business with anyone from Anchester? So I had no choice but to pretend to be a businessman from Beijing to meet him."
"As soon as he heard I was there for Richard, he immediately turned hostile."
"He even said either I take Richard back to Eldoria or let him stay in jail forever."
"Then I went to talk to Richard, he was very angry, refused to leave with me. He seems to have deep resentment towards Director Hansen, but I don’t know where that resentment comes from."
"Director Townsend, what should I do now? Richard refuses to leave, so the police won’t release him."
Faye Townsend glanced at her watch: "Let him stay one more night then, it’s too late now. I’ll leave for Malaysia first thing in the morning to find you."
"Yes, Director Townsend."
After hanging up, Faye made a call to Brielle Golden to book a plane ticket, then she called Eliana Brooke, telling her that they were going to Malaysia to bring back Richard the next day.
Such matters require the involvement of Richard’s fiancée.
After the call, Faye sat by the bed in a daze. Ever since Richard’s first love ended, he seemed never to have stubbornly butted heads with anyone like this.
What happened this time? Just how deep is the grudge between him and Walter Hansen to warrant this?
As she was lost in thought, Hunter Warren returned.
He pushed the door open and saw her sitting absentmindedly by the bed, raising an eyebrow: "Weren’t you supposed to be ready and waiting for me? My mind wandered on the road thinking about it."
Faye snapped back to reality and gave him a gentle smile. Hunter sat beside her and hugged her shoulder: "What are you thinking about, so intently?"
"I have to go to Malaysia tomorrow. I don’t know what Richard is up to. I sent Declan to bring him back, and Walter Hansen even agreed to release him as long as he left Malaysia, but Richard just won’t leave."
"Hmm... I see." Hunter raised an eyebrow slightly: "Richard must have his reasons for acting like this. Otherwise, it’s really hard to understand why a usually carefree playboy would suddenly act this way."
"What reason could he have? All he does is fool around all day." Faye said, feeling frustrated.
Hunter chuckled and patted her shoulder: "Whatever the reason, there’s definitely something wrong with Walter Hansen. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he deal with anyone from Anchester?
I’ll go with you tomorrow; I’d like to meet this Walter Hansen."
Faye shook her head: "No need. I’ll go with Brooke. After all, she is Richard’s fiancée; she has to be involved in this matter."
Hunter chuckled dubiously: "You think you can handle it?"
Faye shrugged: "I’ll take it one step at a time."
Hunter eyed her: "Call me if you can’t handle it."
He drew his lips closer to her ear, speaking in a tempting voice: "Come back the same day, don’t forget you have a big wild wolf at home waiting to be fed."
"What wolf? It’s clearly a lusty wolf, isn’t it?"
Hunter clicked his tongue: "You talk me up so much, if I don’t live up to it, I’d really be letting you down."
With that, he embraced her and fell onto the bed.
Faye tapped his arm: "Hey, I haven’t even showered yet."
"No problem, not showering doesn’t affect my enthusiasm for you."
Faye was speechless, "The kids are still waiting for us to have dinner downstairs."
"Quick and easy," Hunter had already prepared to make love before eating while on the road.
Now, not even an emperor could stop his determination to sleep with his wife.
This time might be the shortest time Hunter and she have ever spent on exercise.
After finishing, they both dressed while Hunter remarked, "It feels like sneaking around, and it feels quite great."
Faye rolled her eyes at him: "Who sneaks around in their own house?"
"That’s why I said it’s a feeling; you have to grasp the meaning," Hunter finished dressing first, walked over to her, tousled her hair, and helped her button up her clothes.
Faye looked up at him seriously, recalling the video she’d seen of Hunter earlier today.
Her gaze full of love suddenly turned tender with heartache, and she wrapped her arms around his waist.
"What’s wrong?" Hunter stopped buttoning her shirt.
He wrapped his arms around her shoulders, gently holding her.
"Don’t do anything foolish in the future."
"Foolish?"
"Just promise me, okay?" Faye released her grip, pursing her lips: "Let’s go and eat."
As Hunter looked at her, confusion arose in his mind. This girl seemed to be implying something with her words.
The plane landed at Kuala Lumpur Airport the next day, and Declan Rivers received her in the lobby.
After they met, Declan immediately followed her, starting to report the recent activities from the past couple of days.
In the car, Faye asked, "Is my brother okay?"
"He still has plenty of energy when he’s cursing."
Faye gave him a speechless smile: "Did he scold you?"
Declan shrugged: "Richard Townsend just drove me away; mostly, he was cursing at Director Hansen."
Faye was puzzled: "Hasn’t he ever explained why he’s cursing that man?"
Declan shook his head: "I asked, and Richard said it’s none of my business and not to meddle."
"You’ve had a rough couple of days, right? You know how my brother is; don’t take it to heart."
Declan glanced at Eliana Brooke, who was sitting properly, with an awkward smile.
Faye turned to Eliana Brooke: "When you see Richard later, if he says anything unpleasant, don’t take it to heart.
He is like that; he’s always more arrogant with his family and those who care for him.
But in front of outsiders, he’s a coward."
Eliana Brooke softly smiled: "Don’t worry, Director Townsend, even if he says unpleasant words, I can endure it."
"I didn’t bring you to endure; if that person needs cursing, curse him. If you want to hit, hit.
However, he is still your fiancé, your future husband.
You can bully him, but no one else can, understand what I’m saying?"
Eliana Brooke nodded with a smile: "I understand, united against outsiders."
Faye chuckled: "Talking to smart people is always refreshing."
When they arrived at the police station, Faye finally saw the disheveled Richard Townsend; his appearance... was truly shabby.
"What are you doing, quietly running off to Malaysia just to sit in jail?
I sent Declan to bring you back, and yet you refuse. What are you thinking, really?"
"Who asked you to meddle? Didn’t I tell you not to interfere in this affair?
Take those people you brought and get out of here."
He then looked at Eliana Brooke: "Why did you come along? You really think you’re my wife, huh?
Let me tell you, you’re not even married yet, no need to flaunt in front of me every day."
Eliana Brooke didn’t bother arguing, choosing to stay calm in the face of Richard’s rudeness.
After all, it takes two to tango; he would eventually stop if he got no response, feeling it’s pointless to talk to himself.
Faye frowned: "Aren’t you being honest? Are you planning to live here for life?
Brooke was worried about you, calling me several times a day for your whereabouts.
She cares about you, so why are you being difficult? Do you think running off with a stolen bank card here makes you proud?"
Richard exhaled: "Enough, don’t nag me; aren’t you my sister?
Looking at you right now, you nag more than even mom, are you having early menopause?"
"Yeah, I am having early menopause, and you can’t do anything about it.
I just want to ask why can’t you let go of Walter Hansen?
What did he do to you that makes you hold onto this grudge so desperately?"
Richard snorted coldly: "I said you shouldn’t meddle in this."
"If I don’t meddle, you’ll stay here for life.
Walter Hansen is a well-known businessman here; we’re on his turf.
Don’t you know the saying ’strong dragons can’t crush local snakes’?"
"That’s why I said you shouldn’t interfere." Richard snapped.
Faye frowned, looking at Richard, who had been acting unusually since he heard of Walter Hansen’s whereabouts.
He indeed seemed suspicious.
Typically, Richard treated jail like home-cooked meals.
He would always want her to bail him out, and yet this time, he called her nosy.
Something must have happened: "What’s going on? I know now where Walter Hansen lives; if you don’t tell me, I’ll find him myself to ask."
"You wouldn’t dare." Richard shouted: "If you dare go looking for that killer, I’ll break your legs."
"Killer?" Faye raised her eyebrows at him: "What do you mean? Speak clearly."
Richard realized he had said something wrong in his outburst and quickly snorted coldly: "Mind your own business, just go back."
He moved his gaze to Eliana Brooke: "You want to be part of the Townsend Family so bad?
Then complete a task, take your sister-in-law back to Eldoria."
"No matter how I ask, you’re not going to tell me what you know?"
Richard turned away from Faye, ignoring her.
Faye stood and spoke to Eliana Brooke: "Stay with him here. Declan, let’s head out."
"Yes, Director Townsend." Declan Rivers left with Faye.
Richard yelled: "Faye, don’t do anything reckless, where are you going?"
Faye ignored him and walked out of the police station.
Richard’s stubbornness often made him unbearable, and stubbornness was a family trait of the Townsends.
The two caught a cab, and Faye had him direct the way to Walter Hansen’s company.
Standing outside Hansen’s company, Faye was truly astonished.
In less than ten years, Walter Hansen had become a little mogul owning more than twenty floors of office space?
