Chapter 221: Chapter 172: Faye Townsend’s Fear_2

Faye waved her hand, "It’s fine now, you can go out first."

"Sure," Declan respectfully left.

Faye rubbed her temples, realizing only when Oliver mentioned dealing with Hunter that lately, things with Hunter seemed quite unlucky.

Everything piled up together.

Lucas, Sebastian, Oliver... not a single thing went smoothly.

Due to Oliver’s sudden estrangement and sabotage, Faye, who wasn’t that busy, suddenly had a lot more work overnight.

On Saturday morning, Faye woke up in Hunter’s arms, pouting in frustration, "I really don’t want to go to the office today."

"Then don’t go."

"But... the company’s in such a mess right now, wouldn’t it be worse if I don’t go?"

Hunter ruffled her hair, "Don’t push yourself so hard, you’ve got me."

Faye exhaled and sat up lazily. She knew she had him.

Because she had him, she wouldn’t slack off. She needed to grow into a strong woman.

Only this way, in times he needs her, could she proudly stand by his side and support each other.

After washing up, she was about to go downstairs for breakfast. When she opened the door, Darnley and Miya were already standing there neatly dressed.

Faye puzzled, "Why are you two little things up so early?"

"Faye, Miya and I are ready. Didn’t you say you would take us out to play this Saturday?"

"When can we leave, we’ve been waiting for you and Dad."

Faye frowned, only then remembering they had planned to attend a community event with Hunter and the kids on Saturday.

She awkwardly pursed her lips, "Well... Darnley, Mom might have to apologize to you today."

Darnley’s expression instantly grew disappointed, and Miya looked at her with teary eyes, "Mom always does this."

Faye sighed, squatted down, and held Miya in her arms, "Miya, I’m really sorry, Mom didn’t do it on purpose. There’s just so much work waiting for me, I really can’t, so I have to..."

"I don’t like Mom anymore. I’ve been looking forward to going out with you for days, but you always lie."

Hunter walked over from the bed and picked up Miya, "Does Miya really want to go out with Mom?"

Miya nodded, "Dad, aren’t you my magic pocket? Can you make Mom take me out, please? I don’t need her to take me out every day, just not to lie."

Faye looked at Hunter in embarrassment, and he patted her shoulder, "Let’s go out today, and in the afternoon, I’ll go to the office with you."

Faye thought it over, and it seemed that was the only option.

She ruffled Miya’s hair, "Mom was wrong, I shouldn’t have broken my promise. You guys go pack what you want to bring. I heard there’s a fun event in the neighboring community today, after breakfast we’ll join in."

Miya exclaimed happily, "I knew you were the best, Mom."

Darnley took Miya’s hand, "Come on Miya, let’s go pack."

Faye turned to look at Hunter with a bit of helplessness, "Having kids sometimes really feels overwhelming."

"So what? What’s all the money we make for if not to live comfortably and make our children happy?

If we can’t even fulfill our children’s small wishes, then what’s the point of all our efforts?"

Faye nodded, it made sense.

She changed into casual clothes again, and called Declan to tell him she wouldn’t be going to the office that morning.

After breakfast, Hunter carried Miya, Faye held Darnley’s hand, and the four of them strolled to the neighboring community.

Uncle Rivers had already registered them, they just needed to fill out a form to join the community event center.

At this moment, the activity center was already packed with people.

Being the weekend, many parents brought their children to join the fun.

Today, there were many competitions set up here. Although Faye was never particularly interested in sports events, she supported Hunter’s registration for the basketball game.

Unlike the parties they usually attended, no one knew them here today. They didn’t need to face others’ compliments, just enjoy the fun with their kids at the community event.

Watching Hunter join the neighborhood dads’ basketball team, Faye couldn’t help but smile.

The basketball game began, and Darnley and Miya excitedly cheered for their dad on the side.

Though it had been years since Hunter truly played basketball, with his kids’ encouragement, he instantly felt full of vigor.

It had been years since Faye saw him so agile, she was momentarily in a daze.

His team, the Red Team, finally won decisively with a score of 16:11, earning priority choice for the dumpling-making event at noon.

As Hunter stepped off the court, Faye handed him a towel, "Pretty good service by the cheer captain, right?"

Hunter gave her a quick kiss on the forehead in front of the kids and whispered, "Very good. I’ll reward you nicely tonight."

Faye blushed, "Shameless."

Hunter ruffled her hair, then looked down at Darnley and Miya, "Kids, how did Daddy do?"

"Dad, you’re awesome, so cool." Miya gave Hunter a thumbs-up.

Darnley crossed his arms, "Not bad, I want to learn basketball, you qualify to teach me now."

Hunter stifled a laugh, "It’d be my honor to teach my own son. How about we start after dinner in the evenings?"

"No problem." Darnley raised an eyebrow in satisfaction.

Faye held Miya’s hand and walked towards the crowd, "Come on, let’s go take a look and pick our favorite dumpling fillings."

"But Mom, can you really make dumplings?" Miya looked at her with worry.

Faye pouted and turned to Hunter, "Can you?"

Hunter shrugged, it was obvious he couldn’t.

Coincidentally, neither could Faye.

How could these two, who never cook at home, possibly know how?

Faye braced herself, "Of course, what’s there not to know? A piece of cake, right, Hunter?"

Hunter nonchalantly nodded, wasn’t it? Just making dumplings, how hard could it be?

But as it turned out... it’s really hard.

Faye was in charge of the dough. Since it was her first time, when there was too much dough she added water, and when there was too much water she added more dough, until a lady from a nearby family saw she had enough dough to make dumplings for twenty people and quickly came to help, averting a ’disaster.’

Darnley, standing by, crossed his arms and shook his head repeatedly, indeed, this was his mom’s true ability.

Meanwhile, Hunter wasn’t doing much better, mistaking salt for sugar while mixing the filling.

With the dough sorted, Hunter decided to casually throw in some seasoning.

By the time others were eating, they just started wrapping. Miya helped with the dumplings, seeing theirs misshapen, Darnley couldn’t help but complain.

"Can you really eat these dumplings you’re making? They look so ugly."

Hunter laughed, "Son, you can’t judge things by their appearance, it’s what’s inside that counts. These dumplings are beautiful inside."

Faye and Hunter exchanged glances, despite their comical situation, a rare smile of happiness filled their eyes.
