Chapter 89: Chapter 084: Still Breathing, Not Bad!

OK? How can it be OK? Yi Luowa weakly set down the phone and suddenly thought of something. She abruptly lifted her head to look at the auntie standing nearby. Earlier, she had been completely captivated by her aura, and now she suddenly realized—why does she look so much like Ai Ni?

The auntie smiled warmly at her. "What’s wrong? Did I scare you?"

"A-Auntie, my master said his mom has arrived, and I—I noticed you look a lot like Sister Ai Ni. Do you—do you know Sister Ai Ni?" Yi Luowa realized her tongue was starting to tie itself into knots.

"I’m Ai Ni’s mom, Tong Yao. You—your name is Yi Luowa, isn’t it?" Tong Yao saw her nervously clutching her shirt hem and smiled kindly.

Yi Luowa nodded nervously. "Hello, Auntie."

"Hello." Tong Yao smiled and looked at the girl standing beside her. "Mengjie, your young master’s got pretty good taste, doesn’t he!"

Tong Mengjie laughed. "Absolutely. Fourth Young Master is definitely the one in our family with the sharpest taste."

Yi Luowa laughed awkwardly. As soon as the elevator doors opened, she let out a long sigh of relief. "Auntie, the door’s open."

Tong Yao smiled, taking Yi Luowa’s hand as they walked out of the elevator together. "Come with me to visit an old colleague of mine first, and then we’ll go see your second uncle, okay?"

"Okay." Yi Luowa smiled and nodded. The moment Tong Yao held her hand tightly, a sudden sense of calm washed over her.

Tong Yao, familiar with the hospital’s layout, led Yi Luowa to the VIP ward. Two policemen standing at the ward’s entrance saw her and quickly saluted her.

"Hello, Teacher Tong!"

Tong Yao raised her hand, signaling them to lower theirs, and asked in a grave tone, "How’s Big Mouth Chief doing?"

"Thanks to Dr. Mai, it wasn’t serious—he’s already able to talk with us this morning." One of the officers gestured cheerfully to the room inside. "Dr. Mai’s still in there. You can head right in."

Tong Yao put on sterile protective gear, then turned to Yi Luowa. "Come in with me. Let your Big Mouth uncle see you—it’ll cheer him up, and he might recover faster."

Yi Luowa was taken aback but didn’t say anything. She dressed in sterile gear and followed Tong Yao into the ward.

Mai Zekai saw them enter, set aside his stethoscope, and greeted them with a smile. "Auntie, you’re here!"

"Mm, I came to check on your Big Mouth uncle." Tong Yao smiled warmly and quickly walked to the bedside, lowering her gaze to look at Big Mouth lying on the bed. "Still breathing? Not bad!"

Big Mouth chuckled. "Didn’t we agree that the lot of us are going to make it to the next century? Whoever goes first is a loser. To avoid being the loser, I’m staying alive for sure."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips, chuckling softly. Oh, so grown-ups can joke around like this too.

Tong Yao shot him a glare. "This is the only time you’re allowed to get hurt. If it happens again, I won’t come see you."

"I’ll bet, if I get hurt again, you’ll come faster than a rabbit... Who’s this little girl?"

Tong Yao smiled warmly and turned to Yi Luowa. "She’s Rui’er’s..."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips, smiling. "Uncle, hello. I’m Tong Airui’s servant, basically his sidekick. You can just call me Luowa. If you ever need anything, just let me know, and I’ll help you."

Big Mouth and Tong Yao exchanged looks and burst out laughing.

"Rui’er came to see me this morning, but he definitely didn’t say that!" Big Mouth chuckled as he pointed at Yi Luowa. "Why’re you not telling the truth, kid!"

Yi Luowa pouted. "Uncle, I’m not lying!"

"Tong Yao, what did Rui’er tell you?" Big Mouth asked Tong Yao with a smile.

Tong Yao laughed. "Rui’er told me he has a girlfriend now! Didn’t mention anything about having a little servant."

"Kids are shy, don’t want to admit it. Let’s not tease her—just wait for the wedding candy!" Big Mouth teased as he looked at Yi Luowa with a grin. "This kid’s got good looks, a sweet tongue, and a lovely temperament. Tong Yao, you’re really lucky. But the luckiest one is still Luowa—having you as her amazing mother-in-law!"

Yi Luowa’s cheeks instantly turned bright red, all the way to the tips of her ears. "Uncle~"

"Don’t listen to his nonsense!" Tong Yao soothed her as she patted Yi Luowa’s shoulder in a motherly way. "Come on, you go with Auntie to see your second uncle. Let’s leave this old fellow here and ignore him."

That simple gesture from Tong Yao warmed Yi Luowa’s heart until her nose threatened to sting with tears. She had grown up with her second uncle, never having felt the embrace of a mother. So this is what a mother’s warmth feels like.

Tong Yao turned to Mai Zekai. "Your Big Mouth uncle is in your hands now."

Mai Zekai nodded. "Auntie, don’t worry! You haven’t gone home yet, have you?"

Tong Yao shook her head. "Not yet. When your mom told me your Big Mouth uncle got hurt, I headed straight to the hospital."

"Did your shadow tag along?" Big Mouth’s tone was amused.

Tong Yao glared at him. "Watch your words in front of the kid."

"Fine, I’ll keep quiet. Go ahead with your work." Big Mouth chuckled. "I’m fine—nothing serious, but I still ended up troubling you."

"The bullet nearly hit your heart, and you call this ’nothing serious’!" Tong Yao, clearly unhappy, grabbed Yi Luowa and started walking out. "I don’t even want to look at you now! Tomorrow, Xixi and I will come sort you out!"

"Why’s she suddenly mad now!" Big Mouth laughed again.

Tong Yao shot him a glare before turning to Mai Zekai. "Kaikai, the nutritional supplements will arrive soon. Look over them and see which ones might help your Big Mouth uncle. Also, pick some that’ll be useful for Mr. Yi."

"Got it." Mai Zekai followed them out.

Tong Yao smiled warmly at him. "Kaikai, you go take care of your own tasks."

Tong Yao watched Mai Zekai head back into the ward before she and Yi Luowa removed their sterile gear and headed to Yi Weiyang’s ward.

Yi Luowa stepped into the room and playfully gestured to the Ao brothers to keep quiet. Once they complied, she took Tong Yao’s hand and walked to Yi Weiyang’s door, cheekily poking her head through to call out, "Second Uncle, guess who’s here!"

Yi Weiyang looked at Tong Yao, who appeared at the door out of nowhere, and his eyes immediately filled with tears.
