Chapter 97: Chapter 97
"Where are we going?" Zeno asked as Ezra drove his car into the city.
Ezra kept his eyes on the road, his fingers drumming on the steering.
"We’re going to visit, no...spy on his ex-wife," Ezra replied, smirking.
Zeno clenched his jaws, he did believe Sebastian when he told him that he no longer had any relationship with Georgia, but he was suddenly suspecting that Georgia might not believe the same thing.
"Why are we going to spy on her?" Zeno questioned quietly.
Ezra sighed, "Well since I’m boyfriend-sitting you, we might as well do something fun instead of staying at home idle, and I also want to help my friend," He gave Zeno a short glance before focusing on the road once again.
"Helping? How does spying on Georgia help Sebastian?" Zeno stared at Ezra, rubbing his thumb over the seat belt across his chest.
"Nothing much, I just want you to know that if you ever doubted Sebastian’s loyalty to you, you shouldn’t because that man is so into you, and there’s no way in hell he’ll have anything to do with a woman like her," he pointed out to Zeno’s windows aa the car slowly came to a stop under a large tree by the roadside.
Zeno looked out of the window to see where Ezra was pointing and saw that they had parked a little away from the small yellow building that Georgia was standing in front of.
She had on a very short, revealing skirt, with a see-through backless blouse. She stood in front of the door, knocking and looking around as if she were looking out for someone.
Soon, the door opened, and a young man about Sebastian’s age drew Georgia into the house, quickly closing the door.
He was still trying to understand what was happening when he heard Ezra’s door opening. Alarmed, Zeno quickly turned and held his hand before he could leave the car.
Was he trying to let them know they were being spied on?
"Where are you going?" He asked in a whisper.
Ezra sighed and removed his hand from Zeno’s, holding his instead. "Come on, let’s go, we don’t want to miss the important part," He winked at Zeno, surprising him.
Zeno was seeing g a different side of Ezra for the first time, and he now understood why he could be friends with Sebastian; no normal person could be a friend to his boyfriend; he knew better.
Zeno sighed and unclasp his seat belt, "We have to be careful, doc." He reminded.
"Trust me, I know," Ezra replied before walking out of the car.
As Zeno stepped down, he hoped Sebastian wouldn’t end up being right in his worries. He wasn’t sure about Ezra’s combat skills; if something should go wrong, how was he supposed to protect himself with just one arm?
Sebastian would be really pissed.
Zeno hoped everything went smoothly, he didn’t want to have any more pressure with Sebastian.
They stealthily walked across the road and got close to the house.
"Come on, we did this as kids, well spy through the window," Ezra held Zeno’s good arm and led him to the opened glass window by the side of the house.
They lowered their heads and reached the window, hoping Georgia or the man wouldn’t decide to suddenly throw something out of the window.
"Look," Ezra peeped his head up and looked into the house.
Zeno followed his lead and was shocked at what he saw.
Georgia was sitting on the man’s lap, kissing him passionately with her legs around his.
"Down," Ezra suddenly pulled Zeno down when he noticed the man start to pull away from Georgia.
Zeno remained quiet, watching Ezra’s face. He looked pissed as if he didn’t like what he saw.
Zeno could understand that Sebastian was his friend, and he was once married to that woman. It shocked Zeno to see that because he thought Georgia was still inobe with Sebastian, at least she claimed to still be from the meter she sent him.
Was this the change she promised to give him?
"What-"
"Shh, listen," Ezra placed a hand over Zeno’s mouth.
Zeno shut his mouth, blinking in confusion.
Ezra slowly removed his hand from Zeno’s mouth and pointed to the window, and that’s when Zeno heard the man speaking.
"How long do I have to leave in hiding?" The man asked in a quiet voice.
Zeno heard Georgia’s sigh, "Not for long, Johan, I’m already working something out," She replied.
"I thought you said that stupid bodyguard would deliver the letter to him, why hasn’t he reached out to you?" Johan questioned, irritation clear in his voice.
"Ugh, I know, I know. I did give that dumb guy the letter, he knew nothing about me so I believed he’d just take pity on me as an abandoned wife, but I think I’ll have to see him again, so far, he’s the only one who I’ve seen get close to Sebastian and that his son," She said with disgusting.
Zeno couldn’t believe his ears; how could a mother speak about her son in such a disgusting manner?
"You better; I can’t even believe Sebastian would be so petty to place a bounty on my head; you have to act fast; it’s suffocating to leave this way," Johan said bitterly.
"Don’t worry, baby, maybe it’s time I use the same trick as the first time, it never fails. He respects his mother so much and would do just anything to please her, I promise, everything will end very soon," She promised.
"Let’s go," Ezra mouthed.
He held Zeno’s hand and led him away as they came.
Inside the car, Zeno sat quietly as Ezra drove the car away.
"So, I hope I’ve helped Sebastian clear any doubts you have about him and his ex-wife. He has nothing to do with that crazy woman," Ezra started the communication.
He knew Zeno would be so confused and trying to understand what was going on.
Zeno sighed, he gently cracked his neck from side to side before looking at Ezra, "What’s the history? What happened between Sebastian, Georgia, and her boyfriend?" He asked with honest interest.
Ezra chuckled and shook his head, "This is as far as I can go with you regarding Sebastian’s personal affairs; you’re the boyfriend, not me," He shrugged.
Zeno sighed; he knew Sebastian might not be ready to talk about it if he brought it out; whatever happened between Sebastian and Georgia seemed to be the reason he was the way he was with his parents and people. It was likely Sebastian wouldn’t want to talk about his past with him.
Ezra saw the resigned look on Zeno’s face and felt a little bad for him. He knew how difficult Sebastian could be, and he knew that it would be hard for Zeno to handle him most of the time.
"It’s up to you to ask him about his past, if he loves you enough, he’ll tell you. Sebastian is not that difficult, especially to you; trust me, he’d tell you whatever you want to know," Ezra said.
Zeno nodded, looking out of the window, "I hope you’re right, Doc." He murmured.
Zeno suddenly noticed that the car was now driving on a very familiar road, he snapped his head to Ezra and frowned.
"Do you realize where you’re heading?" Zeno asked, looking out of the window as the car drove toward the underground boxing arena.
Ezra smiled, "Yeah," He replied and parked the car in front of the building.
Zeno came out of the car, curious to know why Ezra had brought them here; how did he even know the place?
"Come on, this is the last place before we return," Ezra informed and walked toward the building.
Zeno followed him, watching as Ezra confidently walked toward the building.
They reached the door and Zeno was surprised to hear the security at the door greet Ezra, "Good afternoon, Doc,"
"Hello, Buck, having a good day?" Ezra asked the security guy.
"Yes, Doc. Hello, Zeno, nice to see you again," Buck nodded respectfully at Zeno.
"Same here, Buck," Zeno smiled.
They went into the building and Zeno noticed new faces in the ring and in the reactive area prancing with each other.
"Ezra?" Zeno called as Ezra paused, watching the people boxing in the ring.
"Yes," Ezra turned to Zeno, a smirk on his face, he knew Zeno was surprised at how he knew this place.
"I guess you already know what I want to ask," Zeno stared at his face.
Ezra shrugged, "Maybe. You want to know how I knew about this place, right?"
Zeno nodded, "I do."
"Then, I’ll let you figure that out yourself," Ezra replied and walked toward Rico’s office.
That was it for Zeno; it was either Ezra who was also involved in the underworld or he was amongst the rich men who bet on boxers. That was the only way he’d be so confident in walking toward Rico’s office.
But he remained quiet and followed Ezra; he thought Ezra would knock on the door, but he shocked him once again by opening the door and going into the office without an invitation.
Inside the office, Zeno stood beside Rico who was busy watching something on the computer, he knew people were in his office, but it was his habit not to look away from what he was doing until he was done, and Zeno guessed Ezra knew that too because he stood in front of Rico’s desk, waiting for him to look up.
"You really want to cause trouble, son, bringing Zeno here," Rico said without looking up from the screen.
Zeno took a second to understand what he just heard. "Son?" He heard himself ask.
"Number two surprise unlocked," Ezra smiled at Zeno.
