Chapter 16. “Steal Your Ex-Husband from Your Sister to Get Revenge for You”

No one paid attention to Bai Xiyi’s emotional outburst.

Everyone was fixated on the sea, watching the shark that had exhausted itself struggling, its belly even turning upward.

Splash!

Water sprayed everywhere as Ye Chen hauled the nearly two-meter-long narrow-striped cat shark onto the stern of the yacht.

Snap!

The shark bared its razor-sharp teeth, lunging at him.

Thud!

Ye Chen punched it square on the head.

The shark’s jaws clamped shut with a crisp click, and it immediately went limp, knocked out cold.

“Holy shit! That was insane!”

“A man who can run a business and knock out a shark? Too damn impressive!”

“We have to get his WeChat later!”

The women stared at Ye Chen, completely unfazed by the fact that he was already remarried.

“Husband, will this shark survive?” Bai Xiyan circled the unconscious creature, tilting her head curiously.

Ye Chen examined it briefly before shaking his head. “No idea. I’m not a vet. Besides, shark meat isn’t even tasty. Aside from shark fin soup being hyped up, this thing is pretty much useless.”

He then looked up. “Hey, Xiyan, why don’t we call an aquarium or something? They’d probably be interested.”

Before he even finished speaking, one of the women raised her hand.

“Actually, my family owns an aquarium chain. Want me to have someone come take a look?”

Ye Chen shrugged. “Sure, have them meet us at the dock. I’ve got no use for this thing.”

“Got it! I’ll call right away.”

After making the call, the socialite turned back with a smile.

“All set, handsome! Thanks for the shark. Mind if I add you on WeChat? I’ll treat you to dinner sometime!”

She pulled out her phone, already on the WeChat QR code screen.

Ye Chen chuckled. “Adding me is fine, but dinner isn’t necessary. It’s no big deal.”

Once she successfully added him, the woman smirked at her friends, looking unbearably smug.

“Ugh, what’s there to be proud of?”

“Mr. Ye, since you already added Nini, adding me too shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

“Yeah, don’t play favorites, Mr. Ye!”

“Mr. Ye—”

In an instant, Ye Chen found himself surrounded.

He clicked his tongue and shot Bai Xiyan a pleading look.

But Bai Xiyan just giggled. “Go ahead, husband. More friends mean more opportunities!”

Are you sure they’re “opportunities” and not…

“Temptations”?

Still, if his wife wasn’t bothered, neither was he.

“Alright, alright, let’s add each other.”

Soon, every elite socialite in the group had Ye Chen’s WeChat.

They all smirked triumphantly at Nini, who had added him first, making her grit her teeth in frustration.

“Hmph! Copycats! What’s there to be proud of?”

Her friends just grinned.

“So what?”

“We care about results, not methods.”

“Come on, let’s go check on Xiyi. She must’ve been scared out of her mind earlier.”

“Mhm—”

As daughters of Shanghai’s wealthiest families, they knew when to be assertive and when to hold back. After saying goodbye to Ye Chen and Bai Xiyan, they returned to the neighboring yacht with the boatman.

Inside the cabin, Bai Xiyi had already heard the commotion.

Suppressing the bitterness in her heart, she smoothed her dress and quickly touched up her makeup.

By the time her friends entered, she had composed herself, lazily lounging on the sofa with her phone.

She barely glanced up when they walked in.

“Finally decided to come back?”

The women exchanged glances before sitting down with playful smiles.

“Xiyi, do you really not regret it at all?”

“Honestly, your ex-husband is too perfect. I can’t understand why you divorced him.”

“Yeah, he’s one of the few truly exceptional men I’ve ever met. As your friend, I have to say—if there’s any way to fix things, you should try.”

“I agree. Jokes aside, he’s the kind of man any woman would be lucky to marry.”

Their teasing had faded, replaced by genuine concern.

Bai Xiyi felt a flicker of warmth but shook her head firmly.

“I never look back. Besides, I don’t see what’s so great about him.”

“Let’s just head back. We’ve had enough fun for today.”

Her friends sighed.

They could tell—her stubborn pride outweighed any real marital issues.

Nini suddenly smirked.

“Well, if you really don’t want him… I’ll take him!”

“I’ll steal him from your sister and get revenge for you!”

Bai Xiyi’s eye twitched.

“You?”

Nini scoffed. “What, you think I can’t? Maybe I’m not as pretty as you, but when it comes to seducing men? You’re ten levels below me.”

“Just wait. I’ll have him wrapped around my finger in no time.”

Bai Xiyi laughed mockingly.

“‘No time’? If you can get him within a year, I’ll kneel and call you Dad.”

Nini’s grin turned wicked.

“Nah, calling me Dad is boring. How about you kneel and call Ye Chen Daddy instead?”

Pfft!

Bai Xiyi’s face darkened.

The others burst out laughing.

“Hahaha! Nini, you’re evil!”

“Oh my god, making Xiyi call her ex-husband Daddy?”

“Nini, you genius!”

“Just team up with Ye Chen. Tell him one night with you gets his ex-wife to kneel and call him Daddy—instant success!”

Nini cackled.

“However it happens, Xiyi, if you’re so confident, why not bet on it?”

Bai Xiyi’s expression turned stormy.

“What, scared?” Nini taunted.

Bai Xiyi clenched her jaw.

“Fine! But shorten the deadline—three months. And if you lose?”

Nini smirked.

“Then I’ll kneel and call you Mom. Or Dad, if you prefer.”

Bai Xiyi: “…”

P.S. The narrow-striped cat shark (Hemiscyllium ocellatum) is a medium-sized marine fish, typically reaching over 1 meter in length (adult males around 84 cm) and weighing 400-1000 kg. Its body is elongated, thicker at the front and tapering toward the tail, with a rounded dorsal side and a flat ventral side.
