Chapter 53: Chapter 53 - Cheers, Little Thing

"When did you become so tough? Did you secretly take some Immortal Pills without telling me? Where did you get them? Are there any left?" The drunk slurred his words as he leaned in closer, eager to see more clearly.

"Just took some medicine twice," Jun Moyan pulled his clothing back and buttoned up.

"What kind of medicine is so magical?"

"Just some ordinary external wound medicine."

"Really?"

At this point, the drunk had completely lost any desire to sleep, his whole person became incredibly alert.

This was quite rare for Qing Yi to witness.

After all, this drunkard spent 32 days of the month completely unconscious from drinking...

Qing Yi had thought he was going to give up on medical practices, but it seemed that wasn’t the case; he just hadn’t found anything that piqued his interest yet.

"Do you need to take my blood for a test?" Jun Moyan asked the drunk.

He felt that someone had tampered with his body while he was not paying attention.

It wasn’t that Jun Moyan was paranoid, assuming the worst in every situation.

Rather, his experiences over the years had forced him into a state of constant self-vigilance.

His world was too dark; to him, sunlight was almost non-existent.

Even ten suns might not be able to illuminate the darkest corners of his heart.

As Jun Moyan pondered this, his gaze inadvertently fell on the little kitten on the desk cocking its head, clutching a milk bottle, and looking back at him with a pacifier in its mouth.

His eyes softened a bit.

Perhaps, it would add a splash of color to his life.

But that was all.

After all, it was just a cat.

"Hmm..." the drunk pondered, "that makes sense."

Then he turned to Qing Yi.

Qing Yi understood immediately and handed him the medical kit.

Watching the syringe pierce Jun Moyan’s arm and the bright red blood being drawn, Wen Xiao’ai couldn’t help but exclaim:

"Meow~"

Yikes, that looks painful.

She hated pain the most.

Jun Moyan looked at her, thinking she was worried about him.

But Wen Xiao’ai really was worried, not just for him but she would have felt the same if it had been Xiaocha or Qing Yi undergoing the blood draw.

Worrying about whether the other party feared the pain...

After drawing the blood, the drunk carefully stored it, unscrewed his liquor gourd, took a swig, and walked over to Wen Xiao’ai sitting on the desk.

"Little one, you sure look nice when you’re clean."

Wen Xiao’ai covered her nose with her little paw and scooted her tiny body backward.

Knowing she was repelled by him, the drunk wanted to tease her even more.

He clinked his liquor gourd against the milk bottle she held in her embrace.

"Cheers."

Wen Xiao’ai, annoyed, directly threw the milk bottle away.

Annoying, not drinking anymore.

"Hey, you little thing, you’ve got some temperament. You don’t have to show such disdain, do you? My liquor gourd isn’t dirty."

Wen Xiao’ai glared at him furiously: Just disdain.

Jun Moyan rolled up his shirt sleeves and grabbed a paper towel before walking to the front of the desk.

He picked up the milk bottle she had thrown aside and wiped the spot the liquor gourd had touched.

"Hey, Mr. Jun, you dislike me too," the drunk said exasperatedly.

Is that really necessary?

Jun Moyan handed the cleaned milk bottle back to Wen Xiao’ai, who reached out with a paw to grasp it and softly mewed at Jun Moyan.

"Meow~" Her two little ears moved along with the sound.

Despite being human, why is there such a huge difference?

The drunk found her twitching little ears very amusing, fluffy and off-white with a red crescent birthmark on her left ear, it was really tempting to touch.

The drunk reached out his hand wanting to tug at her ear,

but before his hand could touch her, another pale, powerful hand grasped his wrist.
