Chapter 1189: Chapter 1189: The Inescapable Wine
Feng Jun explained things to Teacher Mei until four in the morning, taking into account that Xiao Caixin was staying in the courtyard.
As for Gazi? He was cultivating by the Spirit Gathering Array near the small lake at night. In his words, he was "helping Uncle and Aunt keep watch over the place."
Feng Jun had even set up a defensive formation around that Spirit Gathering Array, so there was no need to worry about mosquito bites. However, the spiritual energy there couldn’t compare to the array in the small courtyard, as most of the energy was being drawn away by the courtyard’s array.
Still, it was more than enough for Gazi’s cultivation, and he trained with relentless intensity; pulling an all-nighter was nothing to him.
Feng Jun tiptoed out carefully, but he was instantly taken aback: Hmm? Why is Xiao Caixin cultivating in the courtyard? Wasn’t she asleep?
Forget it, better not mess with her! Just having finished yoga, Elder Feng was in a gentleman-like state of mind and quietly returned to his room.
After lying in bed for seven or eight minutes and just about to drift off to sleep, he suddenly heard a soft "creak" as the door swung open.
A tall, slender figure slipped inside and, after closing the door, spoke up, "Boss, can you take a look for me? Is there something wrong with my Cleaning Spell?"
In terms of cultivation aptitude, Xiao Caixin was genuinely talented. It had only been ten days since she started practicing the Cleaning Spell, and although she didn’t seem to train much, she had somehow mastered it.
However, what annoyed Feng Jun was that, when demonstrating the Cleaning Spell, she really didn’t need to aim it at him. Couldn’t she just clean the desk or the floor? Wouldn’t that be fine?
And even if she insisted on testing it on him, wouldn’t focusing on his hair or hands suffice? Why on earth did it have to be aimed below the navel?
The rest of the night was uneventful—well, even if something happened, it wouldn’t be written down. Feng Jun got up at 7:30 the next morning.
Zhang Caixin woke up even later, finally getting up at 10:30—though at least she returned to her own room to sleep in the end.
She didn’t care about what others thought of her. With a casual Cleaning Spell, she swept away the dust on her face, then took out her cosmetics and used another Cleaning Spell to moisturize her skin.
Feng Jing didn’t wake up much earlier than her; she was used to staying in bed. Watching all this unfold, she silently shoved a peeled tea egg into her mouth. So what if you can use techniques? Tonight, I’ll practice yoga with Coach Feng again!
However, Zhang Caixin wasn’t just proficient in techniques. She nodded to Feng Jun. "Boss, someone from Kevin reached out to me. They said the batteries are all ready. They called four times this morning... I could’ve slept a bit longer otherwise."
"Then just go," Feng Jun nodded. "As for here, Gazi can keep an eye on things... Any issues, Gazi?"
Gazi was wolfing down his breakfast. "No problems, Brother Jun, just go. I’ll take care of things here... By the way, when you’re done, are you heading straight back to Zhengyang?"
"No," Feng Jun shook his head and replied decisively. He still needed to conduct an experiment here, and realistically, treating Kong Ziyi would probably still need to be done in this location—there was no way he’d be returning to Luohua any time soon.
Besides, the situation in Luohua was under control and didn’t require much of his attention.
What worried him a little was the situation in Chaoyang. Yesterday, he had gone head-to-head with Mayor Wu quite fiercely. However, the mayor held government power, and if he wanted to cause trouble, Chaoyang might not be able to withstand it.
But if they couldn’t withstand it, so be it. Feng Jun figured he’d deal with it when he returned. He didn’t believe that someone named Wu could pull off anything too extreme.
After finishing breakfast—actually, it was closer to lunch—Feng Jun packed up and drove straight to Kevin Company.
Zhang Caixin and Feng Jing accompanied him, but Xiao Caixin was visibly upset—she felt Feng Jing shouldn’t tag along.
Feng Jun’s mobile phone, as usual, remained in his storage bag and was only taken out when needed. However, by now, people already knew how to reach him.
By 2 PM, as the car neared their destination, Li Shishi called to inform him that Elder Yuan and Elder Peng were planning to come over for the summer. Should Luohua host them?
This was a decision only Feng Jun could make. It would be inappropriate to refuse Elder Yuan on his third visit—refusing now might give the impression that the wealthy look down on old friends.
"Host them," Feng Jun instructed decisively. "But make it clear this is the last time. I’m planning to charge Elder Yu for his visits from now on, so they can’t expect anything for free either."
Imagining Elder Yuan and Elder Peng encountering Elder Yu made Feng Jun feel a bit amused. Those two had always been overbearing in his estate; this time, they’d probably have to tuck their tails between their legs.
Around 5 PM, Feng Jun arrived in Jiugong City, where Kevin Company was based. An hour later, he reached the warehouse area.
Kevin Company was unloading goods at the warehouse, bustling with activity. This time, they didn’t bother with any pretense.
Clearly, this was the so-called loosening up Elder Yu mentioned; as long as no one inspected it and it benefited the local area, who would make trouble?
Kevin’s transportation was heavily guarded—no joke—moving goods worth billions would obviously warrant tight security.
When Feng Jun and the others arrived, they were stopped at the perimeter. Fortunately, Zhang Caixin was easily recognizable—her looks and presence left a lasting impression.
Upon hearing of their arrival, Kevin’s CEO rushed over apologetically, explaining that the goods wouldn’t all be ready until tomorrow night. They had arrived a bit early... but all their expenses for today and tomorrow would be covered.
Feng Jun’s group obviously had no interest in taking advantage of such a small perk. No matter how persuasive the CEO was, it wouldn’t work.
For Feng Jun, the main takeaway was confirming that the state had lifted the restriction on Luohua’s lithium batteries—a significant gain in itself.
This transaction took three days. First, because of the large quantity involved. Second, with the national restrictions lifted, there was no longer any urgency.
Feng Jun even drove back on the return trip.
During this period, Elder Yu called to offer thirty thousand tons of wheat, asking if Feng Jun wanted it.
Feng Jun felt a bit exasperated. Over two hundred tons of graphene hadn’t yet been delivered, and his expenses had already increased significantly.
Worse still, he was sitting on over two hundred thousand tons of grain stock. And now... another thirty thousand tons of wheat?
Didn’t they say Huaxia was a major grain importer?
Even though money wasn’t an issue—his second batch of fifty tons of graphene ensured financial freedom—Feng Jun directly asked, "Can we settle it in gold?"
"Of course," Elder Yu replied readily. "You can even pay me later, if needed."
Why would I dare owe you money? Feng Jun felt a chill at the suggestion.
Remembering that his large storage bag would soon need to hold crude oil, he felt a sense of urgency. "Is it really just thirty thousand tons?"
Elder Yu chuckled dryly, "How much do you want?"
Hearing the laugh, Feng Jun quickly came to his senses. Right now, no matter how much grain he bought, it would be useless—his cultivation realm didn’t have storage space for such large quantities.
In the Mortal Realm, however, his estate on Mount Zhige had plenty of room for storing grain.
But something about Elder Yu’s tone irked him—did he think I couldn’t afford it?
Agitated, he replied sharply, "Just tell me how much you can provide. You should be aware of my payment capabilities!"
Elder Yu, amused yet slightly exasperated, sighed. "Fifty thousand tons?"
Realizing his response had been a bit curt, Feng Jun chuckled. "Let’s consider it a tentative order. There’s no rush for delivery. I’m not even home right now, and I might not have time to handle it all once I get back."
"I honestly don’t know what you’re busy with all the time," Elder Yu muttered softly, feeling that Feng Jun’s talents were often wasted on trivial matters.
He then changed the topic, saying, "About that Mayor Wu situation you mentioned—I’ve looked into it. We have two options: investigate him directly, or have Yuan Zihao’s eldest son issue him a warning."
"Investigate him..." Feng Jun contemplated. "Do we have any evidence?"
"Heh," Elder Yu chuckled lightly. "Evidence? Is that necessary?"
Feng Jun paused to reflect. By nature, he wasn’t inclined to utterly ruin someone. Yet years of experience—both in his realm and the mobile dimension—had taught him that being merciful often led to unnecessary setbacks.
In this world, ruthlessness was a necessity.
He cleared his throat. "If we can bring him down, then proceed with an investigation... Has Elder Yuan arrived in Luohua yet?"
"He doesn’t get to call himself ’Elder’ in my presence," Elder Yu corrected him seriously, then added irritably, "By the way, Elder Feng, he brought his whole family with him—young and old. Are you discriminating against me because I’m old?"
Feng Jun laughed. "He was my first client, and he cooperates more readily than you. Of course, I’m going to treat him differently."
Later that evening, Feng Jun’s mother informed him that Mayor Wu had shown up at a construction site, demanding to see him.
Zhang Junyi, aware of her son’s conflicts with the mayor, didn’t want to entertain him. Unexpectedly, Mayor Wu pulled out two bottles of high-end Chinese liquor and downed them in front of everyone—two entire bottles of baijiu.
After finishing, he admitted his earlier mistakes and pleaded for President Feng’s forgiveness.
The mayor lasted about ten minutes before succumbing to the alcohol and collapsing in his car to sleep.
Within ten minutes, he started vomiting everywhere in the car. Unable to stand it, Feng Wenhui set up a mosquito net outdoors and called on some workers to move the mayor out—looks like he’d be sleeping there for the night.
Hearing this, Feng Jun let out a cold laugh. "He always claimed to be working for the people of Yuyuan but couldn’t even bring himself to drink properly. The moment his own fortune’s at risk, suddenly he’s got courage?"
Zhang Junyi asked in a serious tone, "So what do we do with him? I think we should send him to a hospital."
Feng Jun sneered. "Letting him off that easily would be too kind... Let me first figure out who leaked the information."
He hung up and promptly called Li Shishi.
