Chapter 1178: Chapter 1178: So I Don’t Dirty My Hands
As Feng Jun and his companions turned around, the fighting parties immediately noticed them. Although Feng Jun had carefully restrained his aura, there were still three honored cultivators with him. In the eyes of those who were observant, the aura of Outlier Realm cultivators was all too easy to detect.
Upon seeing them approach, two middle-aged men stepped forward to greet them. Both were at the High Tier of Qi Refinement.
Maintaining a polite yet wary demeanor, one of them inquired, "Greetings, esteemed cultivators. May we know the purpose of your visit?"
Before Feng Jun could respond, Jing Qingyang spoke first, "We’re just here to enjoy the spectacle. Is there a problem?"
His tone was sharp and unapologetic, but as a retainer to a cultivator of such stature, speaking in this manner was expected.
"Enjoying the spectacle, are you?" One middle-aged man responded with a smile. "Today is about settling the resource disputes between the Wu and Pan families."
Feng Jun had no intention of acting rashly. He wanted to understand the situation first, lest he make a fool of himself.
He recalled an incident back in Huaxia. On a high-speed train, he thought his seat had been taken by someone else. When he demanded they leave, he realized he had entered the wrong carriage. Upon recognizing his mistake, he repeatedly apologized. The elder he had woken up grumbled unhappily, "You’ve disturbed my nap—how do you account for that?"
Given such experiences, Feng Jun preferred to avoid impulsive decisions, so he asked curiously, "What kind of resources are in dispute here?"
One of the middle-aged men glanced at him, smiled apologetically, but did not answer.
Such a response wasn’t considered disrespectful to an honored cultivator—after all, matters concerning cultivation resources were sensitive, and not even an esteemed cultivator could inquire freely.
Otherwise, any minor clan with an exceptional cultivation technique might find themselves coerced by an honored cultivator demanding access, leading to chaos.
Of course, if Feng Jun wanted to make a fuss, he could always fabricate an excuse to deal with them.
But for now, he had no such intention. Instead, he remarked casually, "White Pebble Beach... That name sounds somewhat familiar."
The two middle-aged men exchanged a glance but remained silent, their thoughts difficult to discern.
Meanwhile, the duel resumed. A Qi Refining Sixth Layer cultivator from the Pan family was battling a Qi Refining Seventh Layer cultivator from the Wu family.
Duels between High Tier and Intermediate Level Qi Refinement cultivators weren’t uncommon—the key was in the agreed terms between the opposing parties.
The Pan family’s Qi Refining Sixth Layer cultivator was remarkably skilled, suppressing the Seventh Layer opponent in combat. However, in desperation, the Qi Refining Seventh Layer cultivator risked taking a slash from the opponent, retaliating by spitting out green light that shattered the Sixth Layer cultivator’s chest bones, causing him to cough up blood incessantly.
This mutual destruction counted as a draw, but neither side was satisfied, so it was agreed that the match wouldn’t count.
The Pan and Wu families had agreed to resolve their disputes in a series of five matches. Although it wasn’t a death match, the battles were intense and brutal.
In total, seven matches were fought, with two ending in draws. Ultimately, the Pan family triumphed in three matches.
The Wu family displayed considerable resolve. An elder at the Qi Refining Ninth Layer cupped his fists and solemnly stated, "Congratulations to the Pan family on their superior skills. Our Wu family accepts the result. But now that the territorial division is determined, let it be a covenant for disciplining the younger generation—otherwise, it’ll end in endless conflict."
"The Pan family knows where to draw the line," replied a ruddy-faced elder from the Pan family, his voice as robust as a resonant bell. "Had it not been for your Wu family disciples ambushing ours at White Pebble Beach, what need would there have been for duels?"
The Wu family’s elder sneered in response. "Ambushing, you say? Do you even have the decency to claim that? If your Pan family disciples hadn’t been secretly trailing ours, why would we have acted at all?"
Seeing the two elders about to descend into another quarrel, a sudden voice rang out from nearby, "What exactly did you discover at White Pebble Beach? Can you explain clearly?"
The two elders turned their heads at once, realizing it was the group who had arrived earlier by flying boat. Among them were not just one, but several Outlier Realm cultivators.
As clan elders who hadn’t participated in the battles, they already knew that this group harbored immense curiosity about White Pebble Beach.
Thus, the ruddy-faced elder from the Pan family raised his voice respectfully, "Esteemed cultivator, I mean no offense, but information regarding cultivation resources—well, we’re entitled to decline answering. I hope you’ll understand."
Feng Jun chuckled softly at this. "Heh, and what if I insist that you answer?"
"Your words are overly domineering, honored cultivator!" The Wu family elder retorted angrily. "Our duel terms between Qi Refinement disciples are one thing, but that doesn’t mean our clans lack Outlier Realm cultivators."
"Outlier Realm cultivators? Well, that simplifies matters," Feng Jun clapped his hands together, his face lighting up with a smile. "Then let me ask you something—how many Outlier Realm cultivators do your two families have?"
The question made the two elders’ eyes twitch. If their families had more than one Outlier Realm cultivator, they would’ve likely arranged a duel involving those higher-tier figures. Unfortunately, both families had only one cultivator in the Outlier Realm—valuable assets far too fragile to risk.
The elder from the Pan family spoke gravely, "Esteemed cultivator, I must remind you—your demands are excessive. Cultivation resources are not something just anyone can compete for."
With his hands behind his back, Feng Jun leisurely stared at the two of them. "Your two families are qualified to compete, but I’m not?"
"The opportunity was discovered by our families!" The Pan family elder asserted firmly. "I urge you, esteemed cultivator, to abide by proper conduct—else the consequences will be beyond your ability to bear."
Feng Jun burst into laughter, wiping away tears as he finally responded. "You claim it’s yours just because your families discovered it? Preposterous fools... White Pebble Beach belongs to me!"
As soon as Feng Jun finished speaking, Jing Qingyang and Chen Junwei shot upward, positioning themselves behind the two families’ groups in mid-air, their weapons drawn and ready—clearly intent on preventing any attempts to escape.
The Pan and Wu clans froze in disbelief. "You’re the owner of White Pebble Beach?"
Feng Jun couldn’t care less about their reaction—he was certain now they were vying for resources located on his own land.
He swept his gaze across the crowd and asked coldly, "Where are the Sun family members? Is this how you safeguard my land?"
A green-robed servant stumbled out of the crowd, his cultivation at Mundane Transformation Third Layer. With shaky resolve, he addressed Feng Jun, "You... Are you the honored Feng cultivator?"
"It’s me," Feng Jun replied, nodding coldly. "I’ll ask once—where are the Sun family members?"
"Honored Feng cultivator!" The Pan family’s ruddy elder called out loudly. "Do you happen to have the land deed with you?"
Feng Jun glanced at him and smirked faintly. "Of course I have the land deed, but you’re not worthy of seeing it."
"I don’t understand," the Wu family elder said, glaring at Feng Jun with wide eyes, his frustration apparent. "Honored cultivator, you’ve been present for quite some time, watching at least five duels. If you had the land deed, why didn’t you say so earlier?"
Feng Jun’s expression darkened. "Are you accusing me of something?"
"I dare not," the Wu elder quickly replied, though inwardly he felt a pang of regret. Throughout the last five matches, the Wu family had lost two promising talents outright and another who’d require half a year of meticulous care to recover.
Feng Jun smiled. "You wanted to fight, so I was willing to watch. If you covet what is mine, why should I mind if you increase your casualties? Letting you battle each other saves me the effort of dirtying my hands."
"Pfft!" The Wu elder spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, enraged by Feng Jun’s callousness. So this had all been for his amusement, making them fight and suffer while reveling in their infighting. Was this the demeanor of an honored cultivator?
Meanwhile, the ruddy elder from the Pan family felt a chill run down his spine. Bowing low to Feng Jun, he said solemnly, "I hadn’t realized it was Eastern Lord Feng in person. This matter is of grave importance. The Pan family acted under the mandate of the Ten Directions Tribunal..."
Feng Jun waved dismissively, speaking indifferently. "Spare me your excuses. If you don’t want to die, you’ll honestly reveal what was discovered on my land. Otherwise, don’t blame me if your entire clan faces annihilation!"
While it would’ve been better to inquire privately about their discovery, the two families had escalated matters so recklessly, even organizing public duels. At this point, their claims to secrecy were rather meaningless.
The Pan family elder hesitated for a moment before asking timidly, "May I invite the honored cultivator from my clan?"
"Only one person may go and invite," Feng Jun ordered casually. He turned to the green-robed servant and added coldly, "Now, tell me—how is the Sun family? Do they all have death wishes?"
With fear evident in his expression, the green-robed servant shook his head vigorously. "We wouldn’t dare! I can go summon the Family Head, but I don’t know the specific details."
Feng Jun glanced at Yang, the honored cultivator.
Yang cultivator immediately understood—this was Mountain Master Feng assigning him something. Normally, Mountain Master Feng’s assignments came with remuneration.
Even if there was no remuneration, Yang cultivator wouldn’t mind. Both Feng Jun and Kong Ziyi had always been generous with Spirit Stones when dealing with him, even though his injuries had been healing slowly of late due to his own issues, not their negligence.
Indeed, Yang cultivator held no resentment against Feng Jun. As someone who had experienced much in life, he was far beyond petty grudges.
Truthfully, without Feng Jun, he wouldn’t even have the option to "sell himself."
Thus, Yang cultivator soared into the sky, extending his hand to summon a beam of white light that wrapped around the servant before he commanded curtly, "Lead the way."
The Pan and Wu elders exchanged concerned glances, sensing an ill omen. Even the weak-looking man turned out to be an honored cultivator.
Yang cultivator left swiftly and returned not long after, bringing back not only the servant but also two others—a man in his twenties and a middle-aged individual.
The middle-aged man descended and immediately fell to one knee, bowing deeply before Feng Jun. "Honored Feng cultivator, I have failed your trust. I deserve to die a thousand times for my sins!"
"Explain the situation first," Feng Jun replied calmly. "I’ll decide whether you’re deserving of death or not."
Just then, a streak of green light shot in from afar—it was yet another Outlier Realm cultivator.
The individual hadn’t arrived yet, but his voice rang out loudly, "Cultivator Feng, please wait! Pan Cultivator has arrived. I have something to say!"
A figure landed gracefully—it was a valiant middle-aged man. He cast a glance at Jing Qingyang and Chen Junwei hovering in the air, then bowed to Feng Jun. When his gaze fell on the group behind Feng Jun, he froze momentarily and let out a bitter laugh, "Four honored cultivators... Cultivator Feng, that is quite impressive."
Seeing that the newcomer was only at Outlier Second Layer, Feng Jun gave a slight nod. "You need not speak for now. I want to hear what the Sun family has to say first."
Pan Cultivator froze upon hearing such condescending words—though he too was at Outlier Initial Stage, Feng Jun dared speak to him with such lofty authority?
Still, noting Feng Jun’s formidable entourage of four honored cultivators, Pan Cultivator chose not to express offense. Instead, he swept his gaze around and proclaimed loudly, "Irrelevant individuals should disperse—business among Outlier cultivators is not open for spectators!"
Just then, a white streak of light cut across the sky. A thin man landed—it was another cultivator at Outlier Third Layer.
