Chapter 1162: Chapter 1162: Doctors Can’t Heal Themselves

Feng Jun was preparing to make a trip to the Cultivation World, and news of this quickly spread across Mount Zhige.

The first to approach him was Huangfu Wuxia. She directly asked, "You’re doing quite well here. Why do you want to go there?"

Feng Jun was somewhat curious. "Weren’t you the one who once said that this place wasn’t suitable for development and advised me to head to the Cultivation World?"

Huangfu Wuxia paused for a moment before replying, "You’ve developed Mount Zhige exceptionally well. If you don’t keep managing it consistently, I’m worried someone might stir up trouble, which could even disrupt Mount Zhige’s future development."

This possibility was indeed real; the saying "mortals and immortals belong to different worlds" wasn’t just empty words. Feng Jun’s success in developing Mount Zhige was relatively unconventional, primarily due to his rapid rise and uninterrupted efforts.

If he were to leave for a few years before returning, the resistance he’d face would be much greater.

He owned all the land surrounding Mount Zhige and was its rightful master, but that wasn’t much of a deterrent. If someone truly wanted to create trouble, it would be easy enough.

For example, if the Yinsha Sect thought that a cultivator building such a large foundation in the Mortal Realm was inappropriate, they could easily flatten his structures and scatter his followers while he was away. Could the official government stop them?

When Feng Jun returned, if he didn’t reclaim his territory from the Yinsha Sect, his foundation here wouldn’t be able to continue. And that’s assuming the Yinsha Sect refrained from widespread slaughter of mortals—otherwise, just winning back the hearts and minds of the people would take years.

If Feng Jun stayed here, there would be no such issues. The Yinsha Sect would have to face him directly if they wanted to stir up trouble.

However, Huangfu Wuxia’s concerns were merely hypothetical. While the Yinsha Sect didn’t see eye to eye with Feng Jun, they had engaged in transactions before and might not go out of their way to do something so thankless.

The real reason Chairman Huangfu was saying this stemmed from her personal agenda. She wanted to hold onto Feng Jun. Even after advancing to the Dustless Sage rank, she clung tightly to her position as the Chairman of the Eastern Branch, proving how much she valued him.

Now that their relationship had stabilized and several cooperative projects were ongoing, she was the last person who wanted Feng Jun to leave for the Cultivation World. What if someone else discovered this rising star? Wouldn’t it be harder for her to maintain her edge?

Feng Jun chuckled and shook his head. "It’s fine. I won’t be gone for long. It’s not like I’ve never been to the Cultivation World before."

Huangfu Wuxia blinked. "Why are you going there? Is it... to advance your level?"

When she uttered the last four words, she hesitated slightly—this guy had only advanced not too long ago. Could he really be that ambitious and bold?

Feng Jun smiled and nodded. "That’s part of the reason, I suppose. Mount Zhige is barely adequate for cultivation, but advancing here isn’t easy."

"That’s no problem. Leave it to me," Huangfu Wuxia patted her chest. "Remember the White Steed Tower? I’ll get it brought here for you."

That was the Black Colt Tower! Feng Jun, of course, remembered the little tower, but this time, he wasn’t planning to rely on the Black Colt Tower to advance.

He had secretly used it to advance before, and while Huangfu Wuxia hadn’t seemed to notice the drop in spiritual energy, Feng Jun believed that one shouldn’t push their luck. A single stroke of fortune was already worth celebrating—how long can you stay by the river without getting your shoes wet?

Back then, how much spiritual energy had his breakthrough required? And how much did he need now?

To be more self-aware: How many people had paid attention to him then compared to now?

So he shook his head. "Advancing isn’t the only reason. There are other matters I must personally attend to."

"What kind of matters?" Huangfu Wuxia was truly not holding back, asking anything she pleased.

Feng Jun thought for a moment and decided there was no harm in sharing. "I asked someone to buy two fossilized insect corpse mines. Have you heard of them?"

"You’ve told me about them," Huangfu Wuxia nodded, then raised an eyebrow. "Are you planning to mine them?"

"Not necessarily," Feng Jun replied with a shake of his head. "But since I bought them a long time ago, I should at least go check on them, right?"

Huangfu Wuxia was momentarily stunned and then spoke decisively. "Then I’ll go back with you."

"No need for that," Feng Jun didn’t want to take her along. "I’ll need you to look after things here, and besides... you need to push forward on the graphene issue as well."

"You don’t need me to watch over things," Huangfu Wuxia shook her head. "Isn’t Liao Da here? If it really doesn’t work out, there’s always that person from Taiqing."

"Liao Da isn’t exactly reliable," Feng Jun sighed, shaking his head. "Ji PingAn and Liang Zhongyu are people I can generally trust, but they’re both still in the Qi Refinement Realm. As for Taiqing... I truly lack the courage to use someone of their caliber."

Huangfu Wuxia had boldly mentioned Taiqing earlier but didn’t dare say more now. After some thought, she sighed, "I’ve realized that without you, there might not be many sages willing to remain in Mount Zhige."

Still, this wasn’t an insurmountable problem for Huangfu Wuxia. She suggested bringing someone from her clan to oversee things for her, and as for graphene... well, such matters were best handled through the Cultivation World anyway.

Seeing how insistent she was, Feng Jun nodded in agreement, although it might disrupt some of his plans.

Yet if Huangfu Wuxia was manageable, Kong Ziyi was a different matter entirely. She, too, came to ask if she could accompany him to the Cultivation World.

Feng Jun thought it over before saying, "I feel it’s better for you to stay here and wait for me. The spiritual energy in the Cultivation World is too intense, and the flow of sect karma there could affect you. I believe staying here to heal is the better choice."

Kong Ziyi, however, responded, "I could go with you and come back together. It’s no big deal."

Go together? Feng Jun felt immense pressure. Part of his reason for visiting the Cultivation World was to obtain some crude oil samples, but more importantly... he didn’t want to conduct tests around Mount Zhige anymore.

The reason was simple. With a Golden Core master constantly watching, how could he recklessly conduct cross-dimensional experiments? Last time had already been risky enough. Doing it again? That would be sheer folly!

So he coughed lightly and said, "I still have some personal matters to handle. How about we meet at Qiuchen Market?"

Kong Ziyi gave him a strange look. "If that were the case, would I need to consult you at all?"

It was then that Feng Jun realized that both Kong Ziyi and her grandmother came and went freely. They didn’t need to report to him as the mountain master.

Then why insist on following me?

The next moment, a sense of humiliation surged within him. He suddenly comprehended what was happening. "You’re worried I’ll be... killed?"

Kong Ziyi, ever the well-mannered one, smiled softly. "Let’s put it this way: Fellow Daoist Feng’s diagnostic and treatment techniques are groundbreaking, something neither my grandmother nor I have ever seen. Frankly, we think you may really be able to heal me, and..."

"And my grandmother and... my grandfather have some contentious old associates. They can’t do anything to my elders, but if they take it out on you, it would be our failing."

The granddaughter of not one but two Golden Core masters spoke with such delicacy, a testament to how truly cultured individuals didn’t flaunt their power.

What could Feng Jun do but force a bitter smile? "Daoist Zi Yi, you’re too polite. If you insist on coming along, I won’t stop you, but as for your grandmother..."

He initially intended to suggest that Master Sumiao remain at Mount Zhige. However, on second thought, having such a powerful Golden Core lingering idly around his base, staring at the mines all day, could also spell trouble.

Previously, Master Sumiao had only visited one mine on her first day there, channeling only the kind of power Kong Ziyi could wield. But it didn’t mean she wasn’t curious.

If she hadn’t inspected things further, it was likely out of respect for him as the host. Now that he planned to leave, what would stop her curious inquiries? After all, she would just be loitering around with nothing else to do.

His thoughts stalled, but Kong Ziyi smiled and said, "After reuniting with me, my grandmother feels so much guilt that she wants to accompany me in the Cultivation World and... her spirits have not been great lately."

Anyone would feel the same. Losing a daughter and seeing her granddaughter stricken with chronic illness—it all tied back to the cause-and-effect intertwined with these two individuals.

Feng Jun frowned upon hearing that. A Golden Core master accompanying him the entire way... was that not excessively grand?

For other cultivators, having a Golden Core master as a chaperone would be an incredible honor. But Feng Jun? It just made him want to cry.

Leaving Master Sumiao at Mount Zhige wasn’t an option, but taking her along wasn’t ideal either. What to do?

Fortunately, he had a flash of inspiration. "I think this... wouldn’t be appropriate. She might end up spoiling you."

Kong Ziyi frowned slightly, giving a faint nod so subtle it was almost imperceptible unless you were paying close attention.

She knew her grandmother had an acute sense of perception. However, in this realm, there weren’t many cases of overly-coddled children. Even descendants of Golden Core cultivators were often toughened through hardships rather than pampering. She didn’t much like how her grandmother hovered over her.

Feng Jun suspected that Master Sumiao had probably already guessed what he was implying—yet another problem when dealing with Golden Cores. Gritting his teeth, he said, "In my sect, there’s a saying: ’A doctor does not heal oneself.’ Daoist Zi Yi, have you heard this before?"

"I have," Kong Ziyi nodded firmly. "Doctors cannot treat themselves and should avoid treating close family because emotional stakes can affect judgment and decisions."

"Exactly," Feng Jun said seriously. "If your... your grandmother can’t approach this with a calm mindset, I think it might create uncontrollable variables in my treatment. Perhaps I should give you the treatment plan and leave it at that?"

"No," Kong Ziyi’s eyes lit up as she decisively shook her head. "My grandmother chose you precisely because of this kind of thinking."

Seeing that spark in her eyes, Feng Jun had a bad feeling. Was this one of those moments where someone gets possessed?

But at that very moment, a voice rang out beside them. "Ah, as expected, Mountain Master Feng truly lives up to his reputation as a famous healer. I now realize I’ve been overly anxious. Thank you for pointing it out."

"Zi Yi, come back. I need to speak with you."
