Chapter 1139: After modification: Chapter 1139 Prove It
Gu Jiahui held the Thunderclap Talisman, the Storage Talisman, and even the Essence Blood Protection Talisman. She truly wasn’t afraid to showcase them, especially the Storage Talisman which wasn’t a one-time-use item. If she really wanted to display her extraordinary abilities, it would be remarkably easy.
However, without Feng Jun’s permission, she didn’t want to reveal them casually. Feng Jun wasn’t just her master and her guide in the immortal path, but he was also her savior. She didn’t mind being passive herself but she couldn’t allow trouble to befall her master.
Yet her stance, heard by the Eldest Gu, was interpreted as her being even more deeply poisoned by Feng Jun than Yang Yuxin.
But who was he? For him to take the time to exchange a few words with them already demonstrated his high regard for family. Hence, he didn’t argue but simply snorted, "I don’t need you to show off, isn’t it just a performance meant to impress?"
Gu Jiahui couldn’t tolerate such words, but the Gu Family’s rules were indeed strict. She didn’t dare talk back and could only look pleadingly at her mother—hoping she’d mediate and say something fair.
Yang Yuxin, upon hearing her brother-in-law belittle Feng Jun like that, didn’t get angry but merely replied, "Elder Yu has been living with him for more than half a year now and refuses to leave Luohua Manor to return to the capital."
"Haha," Eldest Gu chuckled dismissively, "Old Master Yu was quite shrewd in his younger days."
He didn’t mean to disrespect Elder Yu, but wasn’t it normal for elderly people to become muddle-headed?
Besides, given his current status and position, he was qualified enough to comment on Elder Yu within the family setting—doing so publicly wouldn’t be appropriate, not because he lacked the qualifications, but because it would show too little respect for senior revolutionary figures.
This time, however, Yang Yuxin truly felt indignant. She argued based on reason, "Elder Yu was barely hanging on with his last breath when he was brought over on a special transport. Major hospitals in the capital couldn’t treat him, top experts from Merrick and Hans couldn’t do anything either... but now, he’s living perfectly well."
Eldest Gu grew somewhat impatient, "You two insist on this so much, I can’t stop you. But since Xiao Hui refuses to go to school, I’ll have to find someone to verify whether he has genuine skills or if he’s just fooling people."
"Come on now," Yang Yuxin objected directly, showing she indeed had some sway in the Gu Family—even challenging Eldest Gu wasn’t beyond her.
Still, one didn’t challenge Eldest Gu’s words lightly. She quickly explained further, "Nothing else needs to be said; he is truly a Divine Doctor."
Eldest Gu obviously didn’t believe this statement. After hesitating briefly, he replied, "I have an exceptionally loyal bodyguard. Two years ago, while protecting me during an accident, he became paralyzed in his lower limbs. Can he be cured?"
Yang Yuxin wasn’t too familiar with this issue, but Gu Jiahui asked further and found out that it happened while her uncle was inspecting a disaster zone. A large boulder rolled down and struck the bodyguard protecting him.
She had heard about this bodyguard before—someone who had served her uncle for five to six years, incredibly dependable and trustworthy.
Though she only asked casually, her uncle took it seriously and immediately had the medical records sent over.
Gu Jiahui couldn’t make sense of these records, but she was too embarrassed to admit it—typical of the young to care about saving face.
However, she understood the general cause: The boulder injured the spinal cord, resulting in paralysis from the waist down. It was a blunt trauma injury, not a sharp force injury.
She knew a bit in this regard. Master Feng had said before that if one truly dedicated themselves to the effort, even regrowing a severed limb wasn’t a pipe dream—the prerequisite being sufficient Spirit Stones.
To her, such an injury was just a trivial problem for Master Feng. She was aware of Elder Sister Lou’s case, which was almost full-body paralysis.
If conditions like motor neuron diseases could be treated, then this minor injury was nothing at all.
From Gu Jiahui’s perspective, this case might only require a single Foundation Establishment Pill to cure, so she readily nodded, "This injury, I believe Master Feng can heal... however, he generally doesn’t intervene easily."
Eldest Gu laughed dismissively, "Just convey my message to him; he’ll naturally know whether he should step in."
At this point, Yang Yuxin’s voice softened as she carefully looked at Feng Jun.
Feng Jun smiled indifferently, "What’s your opinion then?"
Yang Yuxin didn’t hesitate much, "Of course I hope you take action. If you do, then Xiao Hui won’t be troubled anymore. At the very least, my elder brother-in-law wouldn’t keep holding onto the issue of her schooling."
Feng Jun smiled but said nothing.
Seeing this, Yang Yuxin hesitated momentarily before speaking softly, "If you agree, I’ll agree to anything you ask... even later on."
Her final four words were said in a barely audible voice, and her face flushed slightly.
Upon hearing this, Feng Jun couldn’t help but shiver and immediately shook his head decisively, "No, you may not mind, but I do. That place is full of crap... I refuse to be the one stirring the cesspit!"
Yang Yuxin couldn’t stand it anymore. Raising her hand, she lightly hit him and muttered, "Disgusting! Of course, there would be proper cleansing beforehand."
But Feng Jun continued shaking his head, "I should be able to heal him, but you know me—I won’t lift a finger without money."
"Would you really be short on money?" Yang Yuxin glanced at him in mock exasperation. Seeing him drop the inappropriate subject, she returned to her usual demeanor. "If you ask for several billion, then that’s what you’ll get. I can give it to you directly... Do you think I care about that amount?"
Feng Jun certainly didn’t assume she was short on cash, so he merely gave a mischievous smile, "I don’t want money; I want you!"
"Alright then," Yang Yuxin jumped with joy, making it hard to believe she was nearing forty. She laughed gleefully, "Then I’ll give myself to you. You’re not allowed to refuse me!"
Is it still possible to return her now? Feng Jun felt a bit regretful inside, but Yang Yuxin’s usual aloofness, her stunning beauty and regal charisma, lent her an aura of unapproachability. Seeing her so cheerful now, he couldn’t help but enjoy this side of her.
So he smiled and spoke, "Don’t be so hasty. As long as you’re willing to give, I’ll absolutely accept—after all, it’s not every day you meet such a gorgeous woman. I just wonder, does Eldest Gu care too much about his subordinates?"
"Of course," Yang Yuxin replied without hesitation. Though she occasionally clashed with Eldest Gu—those rubs were hardly more than trivial squabbles—she remained deeply loyal to him. "This man was paralyzed saving him; Eldest Gu would absolutely hold himself accountable."
She paused for a moment before continuing earnestly, "If he can heal this man, it would definitely relieve a great concern."
Feng Jun fell into thought. Proving himself to Eldest Gu didn’t interest him much.
He had proven himself to Elder Yu, but now Luohua Manor faced far more constraints as a result. Moreover, the person they were discussing now was still actively serving in a position.
Yet, if he didn’t agree, Gu Jiahui would inevitably be affected—and he wouldn’t see Yang Yuxin’s happy smile anymore.
Throughout everything, Yang Yuxin seemed to always remain on the periphery of Luohua Manor’s core dealings. But Feng Jun knew, during his rise—if one could call this a rise—Yang Yuxin had played the most pivotal role.
Figures like Sister Hong had bailed him out of jail multiple times and helped him sell Jade, acting critically. Still, if he ranked contributions to his development, Yang Yuxin stood unmatched.
What’s more, while she might have had her motives, she never proactively demanded anything—leaving every decision up to him.
How could he bear to let someone like her down?
After pondering for quite a while, Feng Jun finally spoke, "Healing one... that’s no issue at all. I won’t even ask for money. But I must emphasize that I’ll only intervene once—to heal one person. He needs to carefully consider whom to send for treatment."
Yang Yuxin had been tense while watching his deliberation, but once she heard his reply, she blinked a few times before catching his meaning fully. "You’re worried that after the test, he might start sending a flood of patients for treatment?"
"Haha," Feng Jun chuckled indifferently, "Why, don’t you think he’ll do that?"
"Of course he’d do that," Yang Yuxin replied without the slightest hesitation. She understood the mindset of people in power all too well, considering she was one of them.
Just looking at why top doctors gathered in the capital was enough to reveal the reasoning behind such behaviors.
However, she didn’t see it as improper. Shouldn’t the best doctors reside in the capital?
She still questioned, "Then, if he still has more patients needing treatment, wouldn’t you treat them?"
"Treatment is possible, of course," Feng Jun wasn’t dogmatic. There was no way he’d permanently refuse to treat future patients. At the end of the day, anyone sent by Eldest Gu would still be a patient, and he had no reason to single them out.
What mattered was, "But the people he refers in the future, I might not necessarily heal. I won’t provide an explanation either. Moreover, such individuals must leave the manor promptly upon improvement—no lingering unnecessarily. Hmm, and no moneyless patients allowed."
Yang Yuxin burst into a laugh, "Paying for treatment is only natural. You don’t need to stress that. I’m genuinely curious though—it seems Elder Yu lingering here is giving you quite the headache."
Feng Jun let out a bitter laugh, "Definitely giving me one. Don’t you think his affairs are overly troublesome?"
Yang Yuxin nodded in agreement but remained unbiased in her judgment, "Still, haven’t his actions improved significantly lately? And don’t you think having him around reduces many small annoyances for Luohua Manor?"
"True enough," Feng Jun was not one to deny facts. The reason he tolerated Elder Yu’s extended stay despite the inconveniences was precisely because his presence deterred petty nuisances.
Though Elder Yu brought plenty of troubles, Feng Jun much preferred dealing with them over more insidious issues. Comparatively, smaller troubles could drive someone to madness, embodying the saying "King of Hell is easy to meet, but lowly ghosts are hard to deal with."
He answered with a laugh, "Actually, with you here, those minor issues are already greatly lessened. The old man is just an add-on... This is largely because he’s a local. Personally, I think we don’t need to add any other tiger’s hide to our collection."
Being praised like this, Yang Yuxin couldn’t help but laugh lightly, covering her mouth, "Master Feng, your silver tongue truly knows how to flatter—makes one feel quite good... Though, honestly, I haven’t done much."
