Chapter 1178: Henceforth, I Will Not Exist in Reincarnation!

Chapter 1178: Henceforth, I Will Not Exist in Reincarnation!

The red curtain of history had been opened wide. Young Lord Aurora’s heart was pounding thanks to the memories that had been hidden away within him.

At the very least, memories that had been waiting countless years to be released were now free. Young Lord Aurora, who had been slowly driven mad as he waited quietly in the immortal palace, finally had an explanation. And yet... personally seeing what had actually happened didn’t enable him to calm down.

Spirit Phoenix gripped his hand even tighter.

Xu Qing and Young Lord Aurora were in a fused state right now, so Xu Qing could clearly sense his agitation. And he understood it. But there was nothing he could say.

A real life, and a fake one. Despair and hope. Weeping and laughter. All of them mixed together until... they revealed a father’s love. Unfortunately, that father eventually disappeared into time, like sand that slipped through the fingers when dredged up from the bottom of a river.

It was only possible to go through time without a fear of death, like a dreaming soul, full of helplessness and sorrow, full of longing. Surpass life and death. Walk through time. To find an opportunity to ask: why?

Xu Qing sighed. He thought back to Peerless City, and the blur of memories, and the image of his parents that could never fade away. He thought back to Seven Blood Eyes, to his Master, to Sergeant Thunder, and to Grandmaster Bai. And then those figures combined into an ancient voice that echoed in his consciousness.

“Don’t stop now! Don’t give up!!”

The historical images continued to flow through time. The red curtain had parted, but it didn’t take away the red. The color of the wedding still blossomed within history. Like blood.

In the image, Immortal Lord Aurora laughed gratefully. Young Lord Aurora and Immortal Fairy Spirit Phoenix were kowtowing to heaven.

But then...real history played out, and it was not what had happened in that fifteen minutes beyond the timescape. Heaven and earth transformed. The sea of light rippled, and even as their first kowtow concluded... rumbling descended from above.

The sun and moon were plucked away. Immortal Lord Aurora became red, and the sky... no longer had a sun and moon, but instead a crimson aurora. That was the only source of light. Within that light, countless bubbles appeared.

Along with them came an ancient hand. The bubble popped, and a ripping sound echoed out as he took away all the glory of the immortal palace.... At the same time, the bride and groom stood amidst the ruins, stunned looks on their faces. At least, until their minds blurred. free.webn\ove(l)(.)c(o)m

Neither the Immortal Lord nor the Immortal Paragon wished for the bride and groom to know what had truly happened. They were cut away from it all and rendered unconscious.

Just before passing out, the Young Lord Aurora of the past looked at his father, and watched him rebel. He watched him change his canon into godhood, and shoot out into the starry sky. Even if he lost, he was going to fight the Immortal Paragon! That was the last thing Young Lord Aurora saw before losing consciousness.

But the images of history continued to play out. The Young Lord Aurora and Spirit Phoenix who had stepped out of the mirror and into the past, were watching intently. They wanted to see... what really happened.

And they did.

After Immortal Lord Aurora shot out into the starry sky, he blazed with radiant, crimson light. And yet... he did not have any desire to do battle!

Smiling, and yet with tears flowing down his face, he looked at the ancient hand and shouted, “Kill me, father!”

Those words slammed into the mind of Young Lord Aurora like millions upon millions of lightning bolts. This was not a fight to quell a rebellion. It was....

“Father... asked to die...?” murmured Young Lord Aurora bitterly.

An ancient sigh echoed through history. The bubbles glittered, and light swirled into the shape of a majestic figure. The figure hovered in the starry sky in front of Immortal Lord Aurora, so majestic he became everything. It was as if he was the starry sky. Mixed emotions filled his eyes. Shame. Helplessness. Sorrow.

“Do you blame me?” he asked hoarsely. “For sealing the godbane inside of you...?”

Immortal Lord Aurora looked up at the familiar figure in front of him. It was his father, the most paramount entity in all of the Fifth Star Ring. The Immortal Paragon!

He was the one who had led the cultivators of all the minor worlds in a grand counterattack against the gods! He was the one who had overthrown the dynasty of the gods, and ended the suffering of all living beings. He was the one who had compacted the Fifth Star Ring down and turned it into a land of cultivators. No one had accomplished more in the Fifth Star Ring than him. There were countless people who grew up venerating him as a hero of the ages.

“I don’t blame you,” Immortal Lord Aurora said. “Back during the war with the gods, it seemed like you won. But the truth is that just before death, the God Paragon infected you with the godbane.

“The gods are a fundamental manifestation of the higher star rings. They are a part of the higher star rings. Therefore, a God Lord can never truly be destroyed, not for all eternity. As long as someone remembers a God Lord, then no matter how many epochs pass, that God Lord can be called back. And thus, there’s no need to even mention... a God Paragon.”

Immortal Lord Aurora looked at the Immortal Paragon, and he shimmered with red light as he continued, “The God Paragon used the power unleashed by the destruction of his godhood to gather his boundless godly might and turn it into the ultimate curse. Not even someone as incredibly powerful as you could completely wipe it out of existence. And the bit that remained when you tried became a sealing mark.

“That’s why you went into seclusion after the final battle. You found out that the God Paragon... wanted that curse to be inside of you... so that could be resurrected. A resurrection like that would take many, many years. But if the process couldn’t be stopped, then the resurrection was certain to take place. And the moment it occurred, this land of cultivators in the Fifth Star Ring would be reduced to ashes.

“In order to prevent that from happening, you traveled through all the higher and lower star rings, sending out countless clones in the hopes of finding a way to solve the problem. And eventually you did.”

Aurora’s voice faltered a bit, and when he started talking again, there was bitterness in the voice. “And that was to transfer the godbane away and enter a state of slumber! The transfer magic came with extremely strict conditions. You could only pass it on to an only child. Your son. Me. And I could only pass it on to an only child.

“After passing it through 4,900 generations, the curse would be fully dispelled. With each transfer, the curse would weaken until it eventually disappeared. That is why, for the sake of the Fifth Star Ring, you chose to take the godbane and use that magic... to transfer it to me and enter a state of slumber.

“That is also the reason why there is a succession between the epochs in the Fifth Star Ring. Your true form is sleeping, and even your clone must remain in slumber most of the time. You sacrificed your bloodline for the sake of the Fifth Star Ring. Our family’s bitterness is the only way to keep the godbane sealed, and, as generations pass, eventually get rid of it.

“I understand all of that, and I wanted to go along with it.” Immortal Lord Aurora was speaking in a near murmur by now. “But... father, the godbane is why Ming’er’s mother died! She... died the first time I lost control! I am the one... who personally ripped her to shreds.... I am the one... who murdered the love of my life....

“Did you know that she didn’t even try to stop me? She wasn’t angry. The moment she died, she looked at me with love in her eyes. She paid with her life to bring me back from insanity and into control. I couldn’t face that reality. That was why I went into a state of slumber.”[1]

Immortal Lord Aurora wept as he looked at the Immortal Paragon. His face was a mask of pain. He couldn’t bear to think about what he had done. He could not accept it, and he couldn’t forgive himself. And yet, he could not ignore his own father, who had sacrificed everything for the Fifth Star Ring, even his own bloodline.

But the more he tried to wrap his mind around it, the more he blamed himself. And that guilt became a black hole that slowly consumed him. Within that never-ending pain, he had eventually chosen to seal himself. He was worried that, in his current state, he might harm more people. It was for that reason that, historically speaking, he had slumbered for so long.

“When I woke up 10,000 years later, I thought that I had everything under control. And so, I unsealed Ming’er... with the intention of accompanying him. Being with Ming’er as he grew up was a healing time for me.... But, father, how could I have ever known that I didn’t have things under control at all?? And then... I lost control again.”

Immortal Lord Aurora was shaking, and his voice was shaking as well. “When it happened, I almost... I almost ripped Ming’er to shreds. I came so, so close... After that, I chose to build that cave to seal myself in. I told Ming’er to never come see me at night. I thought... that sealing myself was the safe option.

“Until... I realized that Ming’er’s canon had changed. That was when I realized that you had changed his canon. It was no longer that of the mirror. Instead... it had become that which can transfer the godbane! It was that which could seal the godbane... the Three-Karmas Ten-Evils Seal!

“You wanted me to transfer the source of my unsustainable pain into Ming’er. But how could I possibly put him through what I went through? Endless suffering, day and night. The pain of having personally killed the love of your life!”

Immortal Lord Aurora started laughing madly as he pointed at the Immortal Paragon.

“Father, to the Fifth Star Ring, you are the Immortal Paragon, whose glorious achievements could never be matched! I don’t blame you for sacrificing your bloodline! But... you are also my father!

“I’m not as amazing as you! I cannot and will not take that pain and put it into my son! I also know that there is another way to deal with the godbane, a way that’s not so complicated. In reality, back when you transferred the godbane to me, you knew that you could use that other method to wipe out the godbane forever. And that was to wait until the right time, when l was old enough and then just kill me!

“Well... the godbane and I have fully fused. The time has come! I’ve rebelled. I changed my canon to godhood. The god is awakening within me. Father, you... don’t have much time left! You... have to kill me!! Shred my flesh. Pulverize my bones. Eradicate my soul. Wipe me out of existence! Ensure that I do not exist in the past, the present, or the future!

“Remove every trace of me from the memories of all living beings! Make sure I do not exist in reincarnation. It should be... as if I had never existed! It would be as if you never have had me as a son!”

Immortal Lord Aurora had finally taken a stand! The crimson aurora stained all of history.... It was the color of marriage, but also the color of blood! This was the love of a father. And then, a voice echoed within history.

“Ming’er, going forward... you will be the sun and moon of the Fifth Star Ring. You will have boundless light that can never be defiled. The will of the gods is laid bare, and you can be forever free from the godbane!”

1. In chapter 1155, Aurora told some of this story and mentioned going to sleep for 10,000 years. ☜
