Chapter 77: Fighting 5 Champions (I)
Arasbus was at the rear of the high demonic horde. Although the Abyssal was a mighty and fierce warrior, he was not foolish. Like most demons, his tactical mind was not exceptional, but he always knew to let the weaker ones go first so they could clear the path of traps and drain the enemy’s energy.
A sharp smile crossed the Abyssal’s face as he saw the human Mages begin to consume massive energy, and magic formations in the ground began to glow.
The Abyssal was prepared to see all sorts of explosions and devastating spells that would kill hundreds of the demons at the lead, but he received something completely different.
"Wait, what!?" Arasbus couldn’t help but express his shock as he saw that the magic formation in the ground, activated by the human Mages, did not harm the lead of the horde but instead began to make the earth tremble.
A considerable landslide occurred in the middle of the horde, dividing it into two parts. The landslide engulfed the demons in its path, pushing the lower part of the horde down the mountainside, burying hundreds of them.
The landslide created a massive trench between the demons near the walls and those now at the mountain’s base. It essentially divided the massive horde into two smaller ones.
General Anglius showed a wide smile full of excitement as he saw the combined power of over 40 Mages create a minor natural disaster, and things were far from over.
Golden energy streams emerged from beneath the ground from all the demonic beasts killed by the landslide.
"Mages! Battle Tactic 2! NOW!" General Anglius shouted to the Mages, making them use the energy they just gained into a new spell.
Hearing General Anglius’ order, the Mage soldiers all placed their hands back on the ground as they charged their energy and triggered the second spell they had spent a month mastering.
"Metamorphosis, Mud!"
With that single roar, all the Mages focused their energy on a single spell, generating a cascading effect on the terrain that led to the military base as the upper layer of the solid ground began to transform into a massive mud field.
While mud might not seem like a great problem, it was particularly challenging on inclined terrain, especially if the mud was so deep that it covered nearly half of the demonic beasts’ bodies.
"With me!" Vlad shouted as he jumped out of the walls, and the moment his feet touched the ground, arcs of lightning covered his body, pushing him forward at a shocking speed, two swords in his hands.
The soldier warriors saw how the young man, bathed in lightning and raging energy, marched into the demons, and the rage in their hearts exploded as they followed him, all full of bloodthirst.
"ROAR!" "GRRAAAHHHHHRRRR!"
The demons near the southern wall roared as they saw the humans marching toward them, but they found themselves in a peculiar situation. Their massive bodies, which provided them immense strength, were now pushing them down, and their sharp claws, which could cut flesh and steel, did not work to give traction on this soft mud.
Vlad showed a fierce smile as he saw the demons’ predicament, and without hesitation, the arcs of lightning emanating from his body burst with power as he flashed forward and began to slash at everything around him.
Vlad also found the mud challenging, but his special military footwear allowed him to maintain a stable foothold, and it was easy to start a massacre among the incapacitated demons. Soon, the soldier warriors joined him, increasing the killing speed.
Unlike Vlad, the soldiers did not blindly charge into the horde of demons. Instead, they began to attack from the sides, with those in the lead using machetes and thick shields and those in the second row using large spears.
The demons did not simply stand still as they took the attack. Even in their terrible position, they sent ferocious attacks. However, their claws, which could easily cut through steel, were unable to harm the shields, and the spears cut through their bodies as if they were made of snow.
The demonic beasts were confused and shocked when they saw the humans’ defensive power and the spears’ piercing capability. Only those who had reached Level 6 and developed wisdom saw the uniqueness of those shields and spears.
They were not made of metal from this world but were white, and upon closer inspection, it was clear they were crafted from the bones of an extremely powerful entity. Of course, those shields and spears were created using the skeleton of the Champion Hippopotamus Monster!
The five Champion demons in the upper part of the high demonic horde embroiled in the fighting glanced at each other, and their eyes glowed. None of them were master strategists, but they understood that if they did nothing to break the Warriors’ formation, the humans would cut down all the demonic beasts, and that was not something they could allow.
"¡Boom!" "¡Boom!" "¡Boom!" "¡Boom!" "¡Boom!"
Five small explosions were triggered among the upper side of the demonic horde as the demonic Champions made their dark Force explode, increasing their power and flashing toward the warriors.
However, before they could start their march, Vlad had already reached one of them. The young man’s eyes burned with killing intent and rage as he gazed at the Golden Demon Lizard, the one responsible for the massacre of Quiet Breeze Town.
The Golden Demon Lizard’s eyes widened as he saw the human marching toward him and how countless streams of Origin Force flowed into his body.
"ROAR!" With a massive roar, the Champion demon struck forward. His claws and Vlad’s sword clashed into a small blast of lightning and kinetic power.
Vlad’s eyes glowed with killing intent as he pushed the claws of the Golden Lizard down. Taking advantage of his momentum, he twisted his body and sent a ferocious kick to the enemy’s chest, sending the massive demon hurling through the air.
