Chapter 633: Zanis Family’s Legend
Chapter 633: Zanis Family’s Legend
The presence of Legends in a Doomsday World like the Land of the Three Calamities was not uncommon. Given that the individual hovering above them was human and not a member of the Vorometallicae Race, there was no immediate cause for alarm.
However, despite this reasoning, Vlad could not help but clench his fists as he took in the sight of the tattered robes draped over the thin man’s body. They were identical to those worn by Urion Zanis’s bodyguard.
A chilling realization sank into Vlad’s bones.
Then, a thunderous voice descended from the sky, shaking the cavern with sheer authority.
"Where is Master Decimus?"
The voice dispersed any lingering doubts about the man’s origin and purpose.
Vlad’s frown deepened, his mind racing to process the next move, but before he could react, Valeria took a step forward.
"That man and his friends killed Decimus!" she shouted, her voice ringing through the sky. Her hand shot forward, pointing directly at Vlad and the Sky Seed Depravitas.
A murderous glare burned in Vlad’s crimson eyes. Rage surged through his veins as he fought the urge to cut Valeria’s head in half. However, there was no time for grudges now—the moment her accusation fell, an unbearable pressure crushed down upon him.
It felt like he had been thrown to the bottom of a vast ocean of liquid metal. The pressure assaulted him from all directions, making every movement feel sluggish, his limbs leaden. The Depravita of Wrath gritted his teeth, forcing his gaze upward.
"Just by projecting his energy, he can exert enough pressure to suffocate my body? How strong is this man?"
The Legend’s voice fell once more, reverberating like the toll of a war drum.
"Are those words true?"
The words alone sent waves of disorientation through Vlad’s mind, his thoughts struggling to remain clear under the sheer force of the man’s aura. Before he could even open his mouth, Janus stepped forward.
"It is true. Vlad did take the life of Decimus Zanis."
Jormungandr, Ouroboros, Fafnir, and even Agamemnon frowned deeply. For a moment, it seemed as though the Imperial Prince was selling Vlad out. But Janus was far from finished.
With unwavering conviction in his golden eyes, Janus drew his sword and continued.
"However, Vlad would not have succeeded without my intervention. It was my blade that first wounded Decimus. It was my sword that created the opportunity to strike him down. That means that I, Janus, Imperial Prince of Gracea, son of Alexandros, share responsibility for his death."
The crushing pressure emanating from the Legend seemed to wane—just slightly. It was evident that while the man had no reservations about killing a group of Sages, harming an Imperial Prince was an entirely different matter.
The Sky Seed Depravitas noticed the shift immediately, and faint smirks formed on their faces. Janus’s words had put the Legend into a dilemma.
Or so they thought.
A deep sigh emerged from the man above, the sound like a falling mountain.
"Ahh... how troublesome."
Without another word, he raised his hand, and in a flash of dark energy, a massive halberd materialized in his grip.
"I will take his life. Anyone who dares to stand in my way will face the consequences."
Vlad’s fists clenched tighter. "So, he’s made up his mind."
There was no more room for diplomacy.
A burning resolve settled in Vlad’s chest. He closed his eyes for a moment, exhaling deeply. When he reopened them, they blazed with unrestrained wrath. Runic lines ignited across his body, pulsating with raw energy. His heartbeat thundered in his ears, sending out massive shockwaves of crimson power. His very skin transformed, taking on a crystalline form that radiated immense strength.
Even if his opponent were a Legend, Vlad would not simply kneel and accept death.
Jormungandr, Fafnir, and Ouroboros reacted instantly, their auras flaring to life in a spectacle of raw power.
Jormungandr’s tiny feline body became engulfed in orbs of burning flame, his Depravita aura twisting the very air around him.
Fafnir’s entire dragonic frame glowed brilliantly with searing light, his body shifting as his flesh and bones took on properties of pure energy.
Ouroboros trembled violently, his muscles bulging, every cell in his body preparing for an explosive burst of monstrous speed.
Agamemnon and Janus glanced at each other, solemn understanding flashing between them before their own energy erupted to join the Depravitas.
They had known each other for only a short time, but when warriors fight and bleed side by side, they become brothers.
And brotherhood never abandons its own.
Valeria, Scipius, and Cato had already retreated far from the battlefield. They wanted no part in this fight. From the sidelines, Valeria smirked venomously, her eyes gleaming with schadenfreude.
"Hmph, fools. Your efforts will amount to nothing."
The Legend in the sky gazed down at the twenty Sages below, all standing defiantly against him.
But he was not afraid.
Defeating all of them at once? That would be difficult.
But killing Vlad?
That, he was certain he could accomplish.
The air distorted violently around the halberd as the man in tattered robes adjusted his grip, pulling the weapon back into a charging stance.
A vortex of gravitational force formed around the weapon, growing so intense that Vlad and the others felt their lungs compressing under the sudden drop in pressure.
This was the power of his Laws.
The sheer force was so overwhelming that it felt as if the very air was being sucked from their bodies, drawn into the halberd’s ever-growing gravitational field.
Yet, not one of them moved.
Teeth clenched, bodies braced, eyes sharpened.
They would only have one chance to strike.
The Legend’s eyes burned with cold finality.
"Die."
With that single word, he descended from the sky like a meteor, the halberd slashing downward with cataclysmic force.
But just before the blade could reach them—
"You first."
A new voice echoed through the battlefield.
A second later, a single sword slash carved through the air, severing the Legend’s arm before his halberd could strike!
