Chapter 479: The Leviathan King!
Chapter 479: The Leviathan King!
Victory was within their reach. Just a few seconds more, and the battlefield would have become one where humanity had completely overwhelmed the Leviathans, the monstrous creatures unable to face the might of the super powerhouses of the human race. But now, everything changed.
Just like the death of the Multi-Arm Leviathan Lord had sent shockwaves across the entire battlefield, freezing everyone in their place with disbelief, the emergence of the newcomer from the obsidian obelisk shattered all semblance of momentum. The force of its arrival was palpable; the blow that sent the Xaos King hurtling through the air was a stark declaration. Everybody understood that a new, unfathomable power had entered the fray.
All eyes turned toward the entity that had blasted out of the unbreakable obelisk. It was a being beyond comprehension—a massive humanoid figure towering at three and a half meters, its entire form crafted from a material that mirrored the obsidian obelisk. Its muscular frame gleamed with jagged, volcanic glass-like chitin, intricate textures covering every surface. Sharp, reflective protrusions erupted from its shoulders, arms, and legs, forming an ancient and unyielding natural armor. The surface was layered with intricate patterns, giving it a raw, primal aesthetic. Its head was angular and menacing, with glowing red eyes embedded deep within its dark, reflective visage. The eyes burned like molten embers, radiating malice and primal power, while its crown-like structure gave it a regal yet fearsome appearance.
"ROOOOOOOAAARRRRRRR!"
The roar erupted from the Leviathan King, an unearthly cry as if telling the world it had arrived. It reverberated across the battlefield, silencing all other sounds for a moment as its sheer intensity struck deep into the hearts of every living being. Primal fear gripped every soldier, their instincts screaming warnings that their conscious minds struggled to ignore. They were in the presence of something far beyond them in the food chain—a predator of the highest order. It was not just another Leviathan; it was something greater than even the Leviathan Lords. It was unique, one of its kind—it was the Leviathan King!
After that unique roar, the Leviathan King’s eyes moved to his left, focusing on the one who had killed one of its kind’s Lords.
Overlord stood before him, an artificial intelligence at his core—an entity that was supposed to lack emotions. Yet, he had grown significantly thanks to his sentience and ability to evolve and adapt, allowing his core code to express what one could consider emotions. This was a major breakthrough for the A.I. Chip Clone, but right now, he wished he did not have it. Being under the gaze of that monster was the most horrifying experience of his life.
"BA-DOOM!"
A sonic boom shattered the air as the Leviathan King accelerated from a stationary position to move more than one thousand meters per second instantly, showcasing a level of acceleration that no one in the human army—or the entire world, for that matter—could equal.
Overlord could feel the pressure of that overwhelming fist racing toward his head, and there was no single doubt in his mind that if it landed, his head would explode like a balloon full of blood. Right at that moment, he opened his eyes, Omniscient Gaze activating, allowing him to move in the last second, dodging the blow and saving his life! A flash of surprise crossed through the eyes of the Leviathan King as it did not think that someone could actually dodge its attack, but it did not stop.
"BA-DOOM!"
Once more, it showcased its shocking acceleration abilities, moving to the side and sending another of its massive blows toward the Divine Avatar. Overlord’s Omniscient Gaze allowed him to dodge, and this time, his sword was ready. He slashed at the neck of the monster.
"SHIINNG!"
The sword lashed through the Leviathan’s neck but failed to leave more than a small scratch, not different from the claws of a cat scraping a piece of wood. The overwhelming defenses of the Leviathan King surprised the A.I. Chip Clone, but he did not have the luxury of thinking about it as another massive blow carrying murderous momentum came at his head.
The human army could not help but grow horrified at the sight of one of their greatest warriors and leaders, Overlord, being completely overwhelmed. Not to mention that they had no idea of the condition of their supreme leader, the Xaos King. All those questions and the power of the Leviathan King sowed doubt and terror in their hearts, which would soon affect their might on the battlefield.
"Continue fighting. Keep in formation. No matter what, focus on your fight! Don’t pay attention to anything else. Just fight!"
Just as the cohesion and will of the human army were about to crumble, the voice of Grand Marshal Anglius echoed across the battlefield like thunder. The soldiers turned to the golden giant as he surged forward, his halberd blasting all the Leviathans around him, his mind razor-focused on what lay before him, shutting everything else down. That sigh was enough to push the soldiers forward, helping them suppress the horror, at least for now, as they raised their weapons and continued fighting.
Freya, Jormungandr, and Ouroboros could not help but nod in admiration and gratitude toward the golden giant. He was exactly what an army needed—a militaristic leader who could help hundreds of thousands of soldiers keep focus despite the horror of the battle and adapt immediately to the circumstances.
Of course, the Viking princess and Sky Seed Depravitas did not just stay in awe at that sight since they turned their gazes into the distance, a small hill where Vlad’s figure had crashed. The trio did not know Vlad’s condition and were extremely worried about him, but right now, they could not allow their personal feelings to reign over what was best for the future of the human race, so they immediately turned their attention to the fight between Overlord and the Leviathan King, and could not help but clench their teeth in frustration and dread.
It was clear to the Sky Seed Depravitas and the Viking princess that if they did nothing, the Divine Avatar would not last long under the barrage of blows from the Leviathan King. Unfortunately, just like they had kept the Manticore Leviathan Lord and the Kraken Leviathan Lord at bay before, stopping these two from saving the Multi-Arm and Draco Leviathan Lords, now the duo was paying them with the same coin. No matter how much the Sky Seed Depravitas and Viking princess wanted to face the Leviathan King, they could not break free from their current fight.
With Omniscient Gaze activated, Overlord was perfectly aware of the state of the battlefield and that no one would come to help him. And if that was not bad enough, his body and spirit were already starting to reel from the backlash of using Omniscient Gaze. Still, he pressed on, knowing he could not last more than half a minute against the relentless assault.
"BA-DOOM!"
The Leviathan King launched another devastating blow, its massive fist hurtling toward Overlord at breakneck speed. The sheer force behind the strike created a massive gale, sending rocks and debris flying through the air. The ground trembled as the impact approached, and each step the Leviathan took increased the momentum of the impending strike.
Once more, Overlord used Omniscient Gaze to dodge the incoming attack. The Leviathan King’s fist collided with the ground where Overlord had stood moments before, sending a shockwave through the battlefield.
The sword lashed through the Leviathan’s chest, but it failed to leave more than a small scratch. It became extremely clear to Overlord that his normal attack that could easily price through the defense of Leviathan Lord could not break the skin of the Leviathan King, and he would need to do something else if he wanted to harm the monster.
Despite the mounting pressure, Overlord’s determination burned fiercely in his eyes. He knew he had to find a way to breach the Leviathan King’s defenses soon unless he wanted to die.
"Nightfall!"
Summoning every ounce of his remaining strength, Overlord unleashed his most powerful attack. The blade of his sword absorbed all the sunlight, channeling it into a concentrated beam of divine energy. He slashed forward, the blade cutting through the air with such speed and force that it left a deep, searing cut right in the center of the Leviathan King’s chest. For a brief moment, hope flickered in Overlord’s circuits—perhaps this was the turning point.
However, the Leviathan King did not falter. The monstrous entity barely flinched, its stance unwavering. Its fiery eyes locked onto Overlord, and without hesitation, it retaliated. Faster than even Omniscient Gaze could process, the Leviathan King’s fist surged forward. The strike connected squarely with Overlord’s chest, the force pulverizing his ribcage and sending him hurtling through the air. Golden blood and fragments of internal organs spewed from the Divine Avatar as he crashed to the ground, his body twitching from the immense trauma.
