Chapter 475: A battle of Gods and men (II)

Jormungandr offered a small smile at Freya’s assistance, but he refused to let his focus waver for even an instant. The battlefield was no place for distractions, especially not when facing something as formidable as the Kraken Leviathan Lord. He noticed the opening that Freya had created with her mace and seized the opportunity without hesitation. His jaws parted, revealing fangs that seemed designed for tearing through the toughest armor. In a single, savage movement, he sank his teeth into the Kraken’s neck, unleashing a torrent of lightning and fire directly into the gargantuan monster’s bloodstream.

"SHRIEK!"

A hideous scream of agony tore from the Kraken Leviathan Lord. It thrashed violently, the lethal infusion of lightning and fire surging through its colossal veins. Its chitinous plates vibrated under the internal onslaught, but the creature’s agony lasted only moments. Gritting its enormous jaws, the Leviathan twisted its body. Though it lost a chunk of its own neck in the process, it retaliated with brutal efficiency, burying its horns into the World Snake’s scaled hide. A massive, gaping wound opened as flesh tore beneath the horns’ impact.

However, before the Kraken Leviathan Lord could exploit this wound further, Freya launched herself once more into action. She danced across Jormungandr’s coils, each step fluid and deliberate, before striking the Leviathan Lord’s head with her mace. The blow forced its enormous skull away, creating enough space to prevent the worst of its horn-based attack. Despite the punishing collisions of bodies and weapons, Freya’s expression remained intensely focused.

The fury of the Kraken Leviathan Lord turned squarely on the young Viking princess, but it could do little to act on its rage. Jormungandr, taking advantage of its divided attention, renewed his assault, constricting once more around the beast. Their titanic forms grappled in a lethal clinch, seeking to tear each other apart.

From the perspective of the foot soldiers scattered across the battlefield, the struggle between the Sky Seed Depravita, the Divine Avatar, the Viking princess, and the Leviathan Lords resembled a clash of gods. The scale of power on display defied all reason, but the troops did not stand idle. They had their own war to fight. Driven by overwhelming killing intent and unwavering determination, the human forces pressed forward, slaughtering the Leviathans still reeling from the Divine Ballistic Missiles’ explosive barrage.

At the spearhead of this human wave was Grand Marshal Anglius. His colossal figure towered over those around him, each swing of his halberd creating a devastating arc that cleaved through any Leviathan in its path. Not even the formidable Leviathan Warriors could withstand the might of his weapon, which had ascended to a level rivaling Guardian Tier. Long years of battle had afforded Anglius a staggering accumulation of Origin Force, granting him strength that outstripped even the Royal Guards.

Yet, Anglius was not invincible. Surrounded by countless Leviathans, a moment’s lapse might prove fatal. Luckily, the massive tanks, packed with Viking soldiers, advanced in formation to cover his flanks, ensuring that no monsters could encircle him.

Anglius advanced at a shocking pace, carving a path of carnage through the swarm as if nothing could halt him. Suddenly, a thunderous impact shook the ground in front of him.

"BOOOOOMMMM."

A colossal entity crashed with such overwhelming force that the very earth trembled beneath its bulk. The dust cleared to reveal the Manticore Leviathan Lord! Its imposing frame dwarfed even Grand Marshal Anglius’s more than twenty-meter-tall body. The Manticore glared at the golden giant, eyes glimmering with malice and a thirst for vengeance. The hive mind recognized this general as one of the key figures responsible for the immense death toll inflicted on its brood.

"ROOOAAARR!"

The Manticore Leviathan Lord roared, muscles coiling as it raised a massive claw. Grand Marshal Anglius knew full well that a Leviathan Lord’s power was beyond what he could handle. He tightened his grip on his halberd, steeling himself for a fight that could well claim his life. There was no fear in his gaze, only unwavering resolve.

Before the Manticore Leviathan Lord’s claw could descend, a tremendous wolf clad in draconic plating smashed into the beast’s torso. Their bodies crashed to the ground, tumbling across the battlefield in a rolling collision. The earth shook from the impact, debris scattered in all directions. As they skidded to a halt, Ouroboros clamped his jaws onto the Manticore Lord’s shoulder with all his might, causing the Leviathan’s armor-like flesh to crack under the pressure. With a powerful heave, Ouroboros hurled the Leviathan Lord into the sky once again.

Glancing over his shoulder, the colossal wolf exchanged a brief nod with Grand Marshal Anglius. Then, with another bound, Ouroboros shot skyward, intent on pursuing the Manticore Leviathan Lord. He left Anglius behind, still somewhat taken aback by the whirlwind turn of events. Moments prior, the golden giant had resigned himself to a duel to the death, and now his foe was flung away. Still, Anglius wasted no time. Shaking off the shock, he hefted his massive halberd and pressed forward into the Leviathan swarm, continuing his slaughter with grim efficiency.

While Anglius carved a path, thirty-three white juggernauts and nineteen soldiers bursting with bloodline force took to the air, arcs of power coursing around their bodies. They engaged hundreds of Elite Units of the Leviathans. The Leviathan Elite Units stood as monstrous adversaries themselves, equating to Level 15 life forms at a Champion Life Level. Only a few months earlier, that disparity might have spelled certain doom for the human elites.

Yet, times had changed. The human forces, especially these elite groups, had fought countless battles across the continent, slaying hundreds of thousands of Leviathans in the process. Each victory had yielded immeasurable Origin Force, boosting their power to unprecedented levels. Now, even though the Leviathan Elite Units held a massive numerical advantage, the Lords of Horror and the Bloodline Soldiers were able to push them back. Their abilities, honed in blood and warfare, had risen to match the challenge posed by these monstrous foes.

Of course, pushing back a swarm of Elite Units was one thing—defeating them outright was quite another. Despite the might the humans had gained, the Elite Units remained formidable adversaries.
