Chapter 401: Falling from the sky
Chapter 401: Falling from the sky
Freya clenched her grip around her mace, waves of pain assaulting her as broken bones and torn muscles flared up with each breath. She understood that continuing to fight in this condition would be futile, yet she refused to simply give up. The battlefield was in chaos—every warrior locked in combat—and she was the only one who could contend against the Behemoth.
Determination flared in the Viking princess’s eyes as she bent her knees, intending to use her entire body as a battering ram against the Behemoth, clashing body with body. There was no doubt in her mind that this was incredibly dangerous—perhaps even suicidal—but there was no hesitation. She steadied herself, focusing on the crack in the Behemoth’s skull—the weak point she had created earlier.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" The sound of the earth shattering echoed across Kuro Mountain as the Behemoth kept rising, each colossal step causing tremors that shook the very foundations of the fortress. Its eyes, devoid of emotion, were locked onto the inner wall, and the young woman standing defiantly atop it.
Freya’s eyes burned with coldness and killing intent as she prepared to launch herself. Muscles coiled like springs, she aimed her body directly at the crack in the Behemoth’s skull. Just as she was about to make her move, something unexpected happened.
An explosion of energy covered the sky, casting brilliant hues of blue and silver across the battlefield. The next second, everyone saw a massive tornado nearly thirty meters wide, composed of metallic shards enveloped in lightning, descending from the heavens. It was a glorious sight, filling all the human forces with awe and wonder as if the heavens were aiding their fight. The swirling vortex crackled with electric energy, illuminating the faces of the weary soldiers below.
Even the Behemoth was momentarily surprised by the attack, its massive form pausing mid-step. But its eyes soon filled with coldness as it resumed its relentless advance, undeterred by the celestial phenomenon.
The tornado of metal and lightning crashed right onto the spot where Freya’s mace had landed earlier. Lightning waves exploded in all directions, shaking the ground violently from the impact. The sheer force of the collision sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield.
Despite the overwhelming power of the phenomenon, it only managed to slow down the Behemoth, failing to stop it entirely. The creature’s resilience was astounding.
However, things were far from over. The lightning tornado was just the beginning. In the next moment, dozens of red, radiant spheres fell into the tornado, generating explosions of heat and magma. These fiery orbs descended like meteors, their intense heat causing the air to shimmer. The combination of lightning and fire created a cataclysmic effect, as the tornado seemed to guide the explosive power, directing it all into the crack in the Behemoth’s skull.
It was a wondrous sight—a fusion of elemental forces converging on a single point. Flames and lightning intertwined, casting a blinding light that forced many to shield their eyes. The ground beneath the Behemoth cracked and melted, turning to molten rock.
The Leviathan’s eyes widened as the might of the attack struck with full force. The combined assault was truly horrifying, even to a creature of its magnitude. Yet, there was simply monstrous determination in its eyes as it pushed itself forward, refusing to halt its march. With a deafening roar, it blasted through the tornado and explosions, dispersing the elemental fury as it advanced.
Not even a second later, a rain of arrows flashed toward its face. There were hundreds, each of them rotating and carrying the might of a small cyclone. The arrows whistled through the air, leaving trails of swirling wind in their wake. They formed a dense cloud, hindering the sight of the massive Leviathan.
Blinded and bombarded, the Behemoth was not able to react as a man clad in golden armor and wielding a gargantuan sword fell from the sky. His armor gleamed with an otherworldly light, and his descent was swift and precise. With a mighty shout, he struck the Behemoth’s back with a sword that seemed to carry the weight of mountains.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" A scream of pain emerged from the Behemoth as the blow felt like its spine would shatter to pieces. The force of the impact caused the creature to stagger, finally forcing it to stop its forward movement, freezing it in place.
And the pain was just starting. In the next second, a figure covered in shadows landed right on its head. Before the Behemoth could react, she pierced a dagger into its right eye, the blade sinking deep into the vulnerable organ. She seemed to teleport to the left eye with a swift movement, doing the same. The weapons exploded the next second, leaving both eyeballs as nothing more than a bloody mess.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The scream of pain echoed with even more strength, reverberating across the mountains. Blood gushed from the Behemoth’s ruined eyes, and it thrashed its head in agony. But even in that overwhelming pain, the Behemoth’s instincts were still sharp. It sensed an overwhelming threat approaching, compelling it to react even amidst the agony.
Moving its massive head to the side just as a white figure fell from the sky, the Behemoth narrowly avoided a fatal blow. The white warrior had aimed at the crack in the Behemoth’s skull, intending to drive straight through it. Despite losing his target, he did not stop.
Instead, he deployed majestic martial skills, bounding from the ground with incredible agility. With a powerful leap, he landed a massive uppercut on the Behemoth’s jaw, lifting the creature that weighed hundreds of tons. Seizing the moment, he struck with both fists, sending the Behemoth back down to the base of the mountain.
Pure awe appeared on the faces of all the Xaos Forces and Turkin riders as they witnessed the overwhelming power that those six individuals had just unleashed. Pure thrill and amazement filled their eyes, hope rekindling in their hearts.
"Royal Guard!" one of the soldiers uttered, his voice filled with reverence. Immediately, the eyes of all illuminated as they understood that the newcomers were the sacred guard of the Xaos King—some of his first followers and the ones whose power stood behind only those like Freya and Jormungandr.
Whispers spread through the ranks. "It’s the Royal Guard!"
"They’ve come to aid us!"
"With them here, we might just stand a chance!"
