Chapter 399: Behemoth (II)
The Behemoth Leviathan’s eyes focused solely on Kuro Mountain’s summit as it continued its relentless charge forward. Each colossal step it took caused the ground beneath to shatter into pieces, unable to endure the creature’s immense weight. Trees were uprooted, boulders crushed to dust, and deep fissures formed in the earth, marking its destructive path.
Freya’s eyes widened with shock as she saw the gargantuan beast advancing toward Kuro Mountain. The Leviathan was simply too massive, a towering monstrosity that dwarfed everything around it. Its movements lacked dexterity or agility; it was not built to fight nimble opponents like humans. Instead, its true purpose was clear—to destroy and obliterate anything in its path. It was a living battering ram, an unstoppable force aimed directly at the heart of the Kuro Mountain’s defenses.
A flash of horror crossed Freya’s face as she imagined what would happen if that creature were to march through Kuro Mountain. Other than herself, she doubted anyone else had the power to even slow it down. At its current pace, it could carve a path all the way to the peak, bringing with it tens of thousands of Leviathans. Such an outcome would spell doom for all who fought there.
Unfortunately, Freya did not have the luxury of focusing solely on the massive Behemoth. In the next second, a plasma whip came crashing down toward her head with enough strength to fracture her skull. Instinctively, the Viking princess pulled back just in time, the lethal whip slicing through the space where she had stood moments before. The ground exploded upon impact, blasted to smithereens by the force of the attack.
Glancing up, she locked eyes with the Special Unit Leviathan. It stared back with coldness and killing intent, a semblance of delight flickering across its alien features upon seeing the young woman’s predicament. Its exoskeleton gleamed ominously, and its elongated limbs twitched with anticipation.
"Damn it!" Freya couldn’t help but shout in rage. Frustration and urgency surged within her. She made her energy explode outward, a radiant aura enveloping her form. With fierce determination, she attacked the Special Unit Leviathan with all she had, swinging her mighty mace in powerful arcs. She needed to eliminate this monster quickly so she could confront the Behemoth, but it did not seem that would be easy.
The Leviathan was relentless, parrying her blows with its armored limbs and countering with swift strikes of its own. The two warriors clashed amidst the chaos of the battlefield, neither giving an inch. Sparks flew as metal met chitin, and the ground shook beneath their feet.
Meanwhile, the rumbling of the earth only grew stronger as the Behemoth approached Kuro Mountain. Its momentum grew with every step, the sheer mass of its body making the ground tremble. Unfortunately, the Golden Wave Legion, Shadow Strike Legion, and Turkin riders could not afford to split their focus. They were in the midst of a massive clash, holding the dark swarm at bay. It would only take a wrong step for massive casualties to arise in their ranks. Not to mention, even if they could move, the Behemoth did not seem like the kind of creature that mere numbers would be able to stop.
Grand Marshal Anglius, Major General Theodoro, and the rest of the Bloodline Soldiers understood this all too well. No matter how much they wanted to attack the Behemoth, they were also locked in fierce combat and could not disengage. Their forces were stretched thin, and the enemy pressed them on all fronts.
"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" The sounds of kinetic explosions echoed with every thunderous step of the Behemoth Leviathan as the creature finally reached the base of Kuro Mountain. For such a gargantuan body and weight, going uphill should have been an impossible task. But the Behemoth used its massive arms to grab the ground, propelling its body forward without losing momentum. It rammed against the outer wall with unstoppable force.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!" The walls were not made with just earth and rock but reinforced using alchemy and powerful magic, able to endure the attacks of High Champions. Yet, they lasted but a second under the ramming power of the Behemoth!
Coldness and brutality arose in the Behemoth Leviathan’s eyes as its gaze fixed on the inner walls where the main battlefield was situated. It renewed its march, showing no hesitation or care as it blasted to pieces thousands of drones in its path. Smaller Leviathans were crushed underfoot, insignificant obstacles to its singular objective.
The Xaos Forces and Turkin riders fighting around the inner wall couldn’t help but feel horror as they saw the massive creature marching toward them. It seemed like a demonic entity that nothing could stop, spelling doom for their already strained defenses. If it managed to reach them, it would kill thousands with its advance and open a path for the Leviathans that they would not be able to close.
"AHHHHHHH!" Freya roared, pushing forward with every ounce of strength she possessed. She accepted a heavy blow on her left shoulder from the Special Unit Leviathan, the impact nearly breaking the bone. Pain seared through her, but she used it to fuel her determination. With a powerful swing, she struck the Leviathan, pushing it away momentarily.
Without wasting a second, she turned toward the Behemoth. The full power of her body and energy focused into her left and right arms. She knew this might be her only chance to make a difference. Summoning all her might, she leaped with all her power toward the Behemoth, her mace held high.
As she soared through the air, time seemed to slow. The sounds of battle faded into the background. Her focus narrowed solely on the target before her—the colossal creature threatening to destroy everything she held dear.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" An explosion as if a missile had landed echoed across Kuro Mountain as the full power of the Behemoth’s march clashed with the strength behind Freya’s mace. The impact generated shockwaves that spread in all directions.
