Chapter 380: End of the fight?
The shockwave sent Vlad hurtling a few dozen meters backward. While it didn’t cripple him, it broke his stance and footing, creating an opening that the Special Unit Leviathan did not miss. It dashed forward at full strength, ready to blast the Depravita of Wrath’s skull to pieces.
Vlad barely had time to raise his halberd when the massive fist arrived. His shoulders and arms trembled as small cracks appeared in his bones, and he was sent flying away once more.
"Damn it!" Vlad cursed in his mind, feeling just how dire his condition was. The Special Unit Leviathan wouldn’t allow him even a second to recover; it was already preparing to dash forward again.
"BOOM!"
Before the Leviathan could unleash its onslaught, an explosion erupted, and Freya crashed onto the battlefield. The Viking princess’s entire body was covered in wounds, yet her Force, Totemic Energy, and physical power burst like a nuclear reactor, ready to explode. Her eyes were sharp and cold as she maintained her momentum, immediately dashing toward the Special Unit Leviathan, her mace charged with overwhelming power.
The Leviathan’s eyes narrowed as it saw Freya’s charge. While Vlad was on his last legs, this new threat forced it to divert its attention toward the young woman whose power presented a real danger to its life.
"BOOOOOOM!"
A massive kinetic explosion took place as Freya’s mace and the Leviathan’s fist clashed. The ground beneath them shattered, and immense shockwaves spread in all directions. Rocks cracked, and dust clouds rose from the sheer force of their impact.
Vlad’s eyes widened at the colossal power unleashed by Freya. He realized that while defeating the Leviathan warriors might have granted her some Origin Force, that wasn’t the source of her overwhelming strength. A sharp glint appeared in his eyes as he waved his hand, retrieving a black pill from his space ring and swallowing it without hesitation.
Immediately, his entire body felt like it was burning. A massive amount of energy began to surge through every cell. What Vlad had just consumed was one of Jormungandr’s higher-ranking creations—a Guardian Tier Berserk Pill. It would push him back to his peak and fill him with strength, but once the effect wore off, the backlash would be immense. It was the same thing that Freya had consumed, something they should only take in desperate situations.
"I guess this counts as one," Vlad thought, coldness and determination appearing in his eyes. Ignoring his wounds, he harnessed his raging power and dove toward the Special Unit Leviathan.
The Leviathan was still locked with the Viking princess when it noticed Vlad charging into the battle with renewed vigor. The Special Unit was forced to transform its left arm into a shield to stop the diving halberd, which was bathed in lightning and fire.
The clash was awe-inspiring. Freya’s mace hammered against the Leviathan’s right arm, each strike sending out shockwaves that rippled through the air. Simultaneously, Vlad’s halberd pierced toward the Leviathan’s left arm-shield, lightning arcs dancing along the blade. The trio became the epicenter of a maelstrom of power—lightning crackled, flames roared, and kinetic energy blasted in all directions.
The ground quaked beneath them, fissures spider-webbing out from where they stood. The sheer force of their combined attacks illuminated the battlefield, casting sharp shadows amidst the blinding light.
Despite being crushed by overwhelming power from two directions, the Leviathan maintained its stance, showcasing its incredible strength. Its exoskeleton glowed under the strain, but it refused to yield.
Unfortunately for it, the Leviathan was not fighting just two opponents. Jormungandr’s face emerged from behind Vlad’s shoulder. The small yellow cat’s eyes glowed with a fierce coldness as he opened his maw, unleashing a torrent of lightning-infused fire right into the Leviathan’s face.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!"
A massive explosion erupted, engulfing the Leviathan’s head in a blinding conflagration. The force of the blast sent everyone flying away in different directions. Vlad’s body twisted in the air but quickly regained control, landing safely on the ground with Jormungandr perched on his back. His halberd was at the ready, eyes scanning for any sign of movement.
Freya spun her body mid-air, using the momentum to reduce the impact of the blast and inertia. She landed gracefully, her mace and shield raised, prepared for the next assault.
The Viking princess and the Depravita of Wrath’s eyes were sharp as they focused on the spot where the Leviathan had stood. As the dust and smoke dispersed, they saw that half of its face had been blown to pieces by Jormungandr’s attack. Molten fragments of its exoskeleton dripped to the ground, sizzling upon contact.
However, what would have killed anyone else seemed only to have slowed the Leviathan. Vlad and Freya could still feel its strength and vitality raging. Their instincts warned them that it remained extremely dangerous to approach recklessly.
"How is it still standing?" Freya whispered in disbelief, tinged with awe.
"It’s not going down easy," Vlad replied, tightening his grip on the halberd. "Stay alert."
The Special Unit Leviathan appeared to lock onto the duo’s presence even without eyes, using its other senses to perceive the surroundings. In the next second, its arms transformed into whips again. But instead of attacking, it struck the ground with immense force. The impact propelled its figure hundreds of meters into the air.
"Is it retreating?" Jormungandr wondered aloud.
As they watched, the Leviathan’s arms morphed once more, this time into large, jagged wings. With a powerful thrust, it soared higher, accelerating away at supersonic speed.
A meaningful light appeared in the eyes of the young man, viking princess, and small yellow cat as they exchanged glances and tried to determine their next move. They could chase after the Special Unit Leviathan, and their energy would burst for several more hours, allowing them a chance to take down the creature.
However, after the effects of the Berzerker Pill were over, they would be extremely weak and deep within the Monsoon Continent, where no one would be able to help them if they were ambushed.
