Chapter 323: Fight to the death (I)
Stream of Origin Force flowed into Jormungandr’s Soul Dimension, but he did not feel happy. A thousand perished, but deep below, more remained—those who had not surfaced yet. Unfazed, they crawled onto the riverbanks, regrouping with the survivors of the initial assault.
Despite losing half their numbers, the creatures showed neither fear nor hesitation. With a unified shriek, they charged.
The sight of the dark wave rushing toward them, eyes gleaming with hunger and unbreakable resolve, was terrifying. Hundreds of the massive drones took to the skies, their tattered wings beating with immense strength. Though flying seemed to tax them greatly due to the weight of their bodies, it made them a formidable threat.
"No fear, no hesitation!" Freya shouted, her voice slicing through the tension. "Fight!"
She dashed forward, her shield raised and mace ready. Totemic energy and raw Force burst from her, enveloping her form in a radiant aura.
Ouroboros let out a feral growl; his werewolf features contorting with fierce anticipation. Demonic and devil energy flowed from his Runic Set and bloodline, his strength rising as he dashed forward with all he had.
Clasius hefted his sword, the blade’s weight shifting effortlessly in his grip. Flames danced along its edge while Amara melted into the shadows, her daggers glinting as she prepared to strike from the darkness.
Viserin stood beside the Turkin soldiers, all of them seeing the determination and resolve in the moves of the Xaos soldiers. His eyes sharpened as he summoned bestial phantoms that roared silently behind him, enhancing his strength as he gazed at his soldiers. "Stay together! We fight as one!"
"Ahhhhh!" the Turkin soldiers roared, their swords, maces, and shields blazing with energy as they followed after Viserin, heading straight toward the drones, helping the Xaos soldiers with all their might.
In the sky, Jormungandr engaged the airborne drones. That Lightning Storm had consumed much of his energy, and he did not dare to let himself be drained in this fight, so he focused his lightning on his paws and tail. He dashed around the drones, blasting them to pieces.
Of course, the aerial drones were fast and dangerous, demonstrating great skill and terrific formations. They threatened to overwhelm Jormungandr, but he was not alone. Roman had soared beside the small yellow cat in his majestic demon eagle form.
Shadowy arrows materialized in Roman’s hand before launching toward the creatures, each guided by the wind currents he manipulated. His projectiles were overwhelmingly powerful, and he could also use his physical might to repel the drones if they got too close.
"Watch your flanks!" Jormungandr called out, unleashing a barrage of lightning arcs that pierced through multiple enemies, saving Roman from being besieged. The Royal Guards nodded to the small yellow cat and carried on, using everything they had to kill.
On the ground, the clash was immediate and intense. Freya met the first wave head-on, her shield smashing into a mass of creatures with such force that it shattered their exoskeletons. She swung her mace in a wide arc, generating a shockwave that sent several monsters tumbling backward.
"Impressive," Viserin remarked before parrying an incoming claw with his sword. Summoning a phantom of a great bear, he channeled its strength, pushing back against the creature with renewed vigor.
Ouroboros moved with lethal grace, his bipedal stance allowing for swift, agile strikes. His claws glowed with dark energy as he slashed through the enemies. Individually, the creatures were no threat at all, but they were so many and acted with such precision that it made them incredibly dangerous.
Clasius manipulated the weight of his sword, making it light as a feather for swift strikes and then heavy as a boulder to crush his foes. Flames erupted as he swung downward, incinerating a cluster of creatures. "Keep pushing! Don’t let them overwhelm us!"
Amara weaved through the shadows, appearing behind enemies to deliver precise, fatal blows with her daggers. She unleashed arcs of sundering darkness that divided the swarm, always alert to help the others.
The Turkin soldiers’ power could not compare with the Royal Guards, much less with Freya or Ouroboros. However, their ferocious attacks helped the group reduce the drones’ pressure and avoid being overwhelmed.
The battle in the sky grew increasingly intense; Jormungandr and Roman were locked in fierce combat. The flying drones swarmed around them, attacking from all angles, and no matter how many of them fell, they kept surging forward.
The small yellow cat unleashed torrents of fire, but the creatures were relentless, and the pressure he felt was increasing.
"They’re adapting to our attacks!" Roman shouted, narrowly dodging a claw aimed at his wing before waving his massive bow, blasting one of the enhanced drones away.
"Stay sharp!" Jormungandr replied, summoning gusts of fire to burn the creatures that surrounded him. "We can’t let them get the upper hand!"
The pressure of the aerial drones was overwhelming, but Jormungandr and Roman could not allow them to focus on anyone else. Interfering in the melee battle on the ground would spell catastrophe for the Turkin soldiers, as they would not be able to resist.
Luckily, the Depravita of Gluttony and the archer were not alone in their fight. Frank, whose arms had transformed into demonic magma cannons, launched explosive spheres of molten rock into the swarm. Each explosion sent fragments of fiery shrapnel tearing through the enemy ranks.
By his side was Mirena, the Royal Guard controlling tornadoes wrapped in dark lightning. She directed the whirlwinds into clusters of enemies, shredding them with metallic debris and electrifying currents.
"Supporting fire coming your way!" she called out to Jormungandr and Roman, who immediately moved to the edge of the aerial battlefield. Mirena did not waste time before shouting to the Turkin soldiers who used long-range attacks, "There!"
The Turkin soldiers had been charging their energies and attacks, and the moment they saw the opening, they unleashed their full powers, taking down dozens of aerial monsters, Origin Force rushing into their Soul Dimensions.
