Chapter 321: Dangerous Plan (II)

Freya’s eyes were sharp as she instinctively clenched the grip of her sword. "You want us to engage them directly?"

"Yes," Vlad confirmed. "Your objective is to eliminate as many as possible. I want the hive to see you as a threat they need to obliterate."

Jormungandr’s expression was cold and sharp, with no fear or hesitation in his eyes. "So we’re to act as both sword and shield."

"Precisely," Vlad replied, his voice carrying a deep tone of determination and wisdom. "I need you to attack them, kill as many as you can, and collect the corpses in the process. If you start to steal their biomass, I am sure they will mark you as an even bigger threat."

Ouroboros gave a solemn nod to Vlad’s words. "Understood. We’ll do what’s necessary."

The Viking princess, the Depravitas, and the Royal Guards nodded in unison, their faces resolute. They were accustomed to following Vlad’s lead, trusting in his judgment without doubt, as he always knew what to do. Their faith in the young man had reached the point where they did not need to understand why he gave a command; they just needed to do it.

However, not everyone shared their readiness. Viserin stepped forward, a frown creasing his features. The soldiers of the Turkin Kingdom behind him exchanged uneasy glances, mirroring their leader’s apprehension.

"You’re asking us to engage an enemy we barely understand," Viserin said carefully. "The dangers are immense. We could be walking into a slaughter."

Vlad met his gaze evenly. "I won’t lie to you—the risks are high, especially since we have yet to see the type of warriors that rise among these creatures. But there is no other path. Whatever these things are, they present a level of danger I have yet to fathom, but they must be taken care of as soon as possible, and we all must accept the risks."

Viserin’s eyes searched Vlad’s face for a moment before he spoke again. "And what will you be doing while we undertake this mission?"

A brief silence followed, tension crackling in the air. Vlad’s expression remained unreadable as he answered, "I will venture deeper into the Monsoon Continent. I intend to locate the origin of these creatures."

A collective gasp rippled through the Turkin soldiers. Venturing deep into Karman Country was dangerous enough—those creatures could easily surround them if they were not careful—yet Vlad intended to go to their core, the place that was surely overflowing with those beings.

Freya had already expected something like that from the young man, as she knew the kind of person he was. If he had given them a dangerous mission, he would take one even more perilous. Still, she could not shake the feeling of worry. "Vlad, are you sure about going alone? I or Jormungandr could accompany you. Our strength will improve your chances of survival."

"It’s not about battle power. The truth is that if I reach the center of the hive and a battle were to start, I would most likely be surrounded in a matter of minutes, and then strength would matter very little. I will go alone because that is the best chance of moving undetected, which is the only path I have to succeed." Vlad’s eyes were sharp, and there was no hesitation or flicker of doubt in them.

Freya opened her mouth to protest, but Jormungandr sighed softly and interrupted her. "He’s already made up his mind."

Vlad’s eyes were sharp as he gazed around, his determination evident to all. The intensity in his gaze made it clear that the plan was finalized and everyone knew their duties. They began organizing their resources without further delay, ensuring everything was in order.

Kneeling down, Vlad used the tip of his halberd to draw a rough map of the country. "Here," he pointed, marking several spots in the dirt. "These are the areas where you’ll make your presence known. Force them to focus on you."

Jormungandr leaned in, his small yellow form contrasting sharply with the seriousness of his tone. "If we apply pressure along this line," he suggested, tracing a path eastward, "we can lead them away from the Monsoon Continent’s border."

Viserin, the Turkin King, studied the map with a hunter’s keen eye. "The terrain here is dense," he noted, tapping a section of the map. "We can use it to our advantage, setting traps and ambushes to thin their numbers."

"Excellent point," Vlad acknowledged. "But remember, timing is crucial. You must retreat before they can encircle you."

Freya stood beside Vlad, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. Her eyes met his. "We’ll strike hard and fast," she assured him.

The group exchanged determined glances. The weight of the mission hung heavily in the air, but their resolve was unshakable.

"Any questions?" Vlad asked, his gaze sweeping over them, and he saw readiness. "Good. The more you disrupt them, the better my chances."

With the final details settled, Vlad brushed dirt from his hands. Jormungandr and Freya gazed at him for a moment, concern flickering in their eyes.

"Stay safe," Freya said softly.

"You as well," Vlad responded, offering a faint smile.

Jormungandr hopped onto a nearby rock, his fiery eyes meeting Vlad’s. "We’ll see you soon, Boss," he promised.

They nodded to each other, a silent understanding passing between them. Then, with a swift motion, Jormungandr and Freya led the group forward. They moved at a shocking speed, disappearing into the forest’s depths, ensuring they would encounter the creatures far from the Monsoon Continent’s border.

Vlad watched as their figures vanished among the trees, a solemn expression settling on his face. He exhaled slowly, the weight of the task pressing upon him.

Turning away, he steeled himself. No matter the danger, the Depravita of Wrath’s focus and resolve were absolute. Closing his eyes briefly, he issued commands to his A.I. Chip. "Continuous scans for any anomalies or signs of the central hive. Conceal my energy radiation and body odor. Regulate my physical temperature to match the surroundings, and suppress any sound or vibration that could give away my position. Counter any forms of echolocation or other detection methods."

[Beep! Task initiated.] The robotic voice of the A.I. Chip echoed in his mind, and then, without delay or hesitation, he dashed.
