Chapter 245: Killing a High Champion Monster
Chapter 245: Killing a High Champion Monster
Vlad’s eyes grew sharp, and his focus intensified as he gazed intently at the High Champion Monster. He noticed how it was not blindly moving but instead charging toward a fiendish werewolf nearly three meters tall.
It was easy for Vlad to recognize the aura of a Depravita coming from the fiendish werewolf and recognize Ouroboros. As he looked around the area, he caught sight of the Royal Guards and dozens of other soldiers, all of them watching from a distance. They were on guard, but it did not seem they would make a move anytime soon.
A meaningful light appeared in Vlad’s eyes as he assessed the state of the battlefield and chose to remain in the sky, focusing on the battle between the High Champion Monster and Ouroboros without intervening.
Ouroboros stood firm, his muscles bulging as he faced the High Champion Monster, which resembled a building-sized elephant charging toward him, its tusks positioned to impale him. The power of his Runic Set burst forth, enhancing his physical might even more as he grabbed the massive tusks.
Immediately, the High Champion Monster Elephant began to push Ouroboros back, the ground beneath his feet shattering, but his arms remained firm and steady as he ensured not to lose control of the tusks.
After being pushed nearly one hundred meters, a sharp light appeared in Ouroboros’s eyes as he channeled all his strength, changed his stance, and redirected all the power behind the High Champion Monster’s charge to the side, causing the massive creature to lose its footing and fall to the ground.
Ouroboros smiled, as on the ground, the High Champion Monster’s massive body would become a weakness, and even standing up would take some time, which he could use to deliver powerful and deadly attacks. However, just as the Depravita of Greed was ready to unleash a devastating assault, a robotic voice echoed inside his mind, telling him to pull back.
Confusion appeared in Ouroboros’s mind as he did not understand the reason for the A.I. Chip’s warning, but after months of fighting very powerful warriors, he had come to accept that the chip’s advice was paramount, surpassing even his own instincts. Without wasting a second, Ouroboros kicked the ground with all his strength, putting dozens of meters between him and the fallen monster.
Just as Ouroboros jumped away and the High Champion Monster Elephant fell to the ground, the earth trembled, rising on its own to help the massive creature stand up in less than a second. Immediately after that, the High Champion Monster stomped the ground with all its power and energy, causing dozens of earth spikes to emerge all around it.
Ouroboros watched the High Champion Monster Elephant as it regained its footing with alarming speed, aided by the earth that seemed to rise up to support it. Although impressed, the Depravita of Greed was not really surprised by the Monster’s ability.
Monsters lacked wisdom and a proper energy pool through which they could trigger spells, but the universe was fair, giving them certain elemental affinities that could make up for their weaknesses. In this case, it seemed that the High Champion Monster Elephant could control the earth to both help his movement and attack all those around it.
The High Champion Monster roared as it charged once more, tusks gleaming with energy as it sought to impale the one that dared to throw it to the ground.
Ouroboros’s eyes narrowed in focus. This time he would not directly clash with the Monster, as it was clear that there were no gains, not to mention that a single moment of weakness could leave him impaled. His martial prowess and heightened senses guided him as he sidestepped the monster’s charge with a swift leap.
As the elephant thundered past, he spun around and delivered a series of rapid palm strikes to its flank. Each strike sent shockwaves rippling through the creature’s massive body, bypassing its skin, reaching the internal organs, and causing it to stagger and bellow in pain.
The High Champion Monster Elephant immediately stomped the ground once more, triggering its ability to push away the enemy that was in its blind spot.
The air around Ouroboros crackled with energy as he moved with incredible speed and dexterity, dodging the earth spikes that erupted from the ground. The spikes were an extension of the monster’s will, and they threatened to impale him if he faltered.
Luckily, Ouroboros was able to dodge all of them, appearing one hundred meters away in less than three seconds, and locking eyes with the High Champion Monster once more before both flashed toward the other.
The High Champion Monster roared in frustration, its massive feet pounding the ground with enough force to make the earth tremble. It charged again, this time with increased fury, the ground beneath its feet undulating to propel it forward with terrifying speed.
Ouroboros met the charge head-on, his body a blur of motion. He ducked beneath the elephant’s tusks, narrowly avoiding them before jumping up and delivering a devastating upward kick to its jaw, sending another shockwave through the creature’s skull. The monster staggered back, its eyes momentarily dazed.
Seizing the advantage, Ouroboros followed up with a flurry of rapid strikes, his palms and fists a blur of motion as he targeted the creature’s vulnerable joints and pressure points. With each strike, he poured his strength into the attack, channeling Force through his arms and legs to amplify the impact.
Just as the ninth blow landed, Ouroboros’s eyes narrowed as he immediately raised his arms and channeled his Force into them, using them as a shield right before a massive trunk struck him point blank, sending his body flying away.
Ouroboros managed to twist his body mid-air, regain control, and land on the ground in a flawless battle stance. His eyes were cold and sharp as he gazed at the High Champion Monster, and his killing intent only increased as a trail of blood fell from the corner of his mouth.
The High Champion Monster showed the same killing intent as it gazed at the demonic werewolf, and once more roared before charging forward, using the earth to move at a simply supernatural speed.
The Depravita of Greed and the High Champion Monster Elephant clashed over and over again, each of them leaving wounds on the other, and destroying everything around them, showing a destructiveness that the ground weapons before the apocalypse could not even compare.
Ouroboros danced around the battlefield, his movements a blur. His martial skills allowed him to deflect and evade the worst of the monster’s attacks, but even he was not entirely unscathed. The occasional earth spike grazed him, leaving shallow cuts on his skin. However, his fur, tougher than armor, absorbed much of the damage, preventing serious injury. It was the trunk he needed to be careful around, as it struck with a power that made his inner organs tremble and generated small fractures in his arms.
As the minutes passed, the High Champion Monster bellowed in rage and pain, its thick hide now marred by bleeding wounds where Ouroboros’s strikes had found purchase. Yet, despite its injuries, the creature’s resilience was formidable, and it continued to fight with unrelenting ferocity.
Ouroboros circled the monster, his movements fluid and precise as he avoided the earth spikes that sought to impale him and the trunk that sought to crush him. Finally, a sharp light full of decisiveness appeared in the Depravita of Greed’s eyes as he met the charge of the High Champion Monster head-on.
However, this time he did not catch the tusk or dodge it, but instead did something much more amazing, jumping onto it, and using it as a bouncing board to leap onto the creature’s back, delivering a powerful double palm strike that sent shockwaves rippling through its spine. The elephant staggered, its legs buckling momentarily under the force of the blow.
That blow caused massive brain damage to the High Champion Monster Elephant, and even its overwhelming vitality was not high enough to prevent the paralysis and lack of control over its energy, leaving it defenseless against what would come next.
"¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!"
Explosions echoed across the battlefield as Ouroboros delivered a series of lightning-fast strikes to the back of the High Champion Monster’s head, each blow sapping away its life force.
The monster let out a final, thunderous roar before collapsing to the ground, the light of its eyes fading as the last trace of vitality vanished due to the catastrophic damage done to its brain and skull.
Breathing heavily, Ouroboros stood over the fallen creature. He was exhausted, his energy pool drained, yet a large smile arose on his face as he managed to defeat the High Champion Monster without help.
With the High Champion Monster defeated, Ouroboros looked up to the sky, where Vlad still hovered, observing the scene. A small, satisfied smile crossed his lips as he nodded to the man.
