Beyond the Apocalypse
Chapter 226 - 70%

Chapter 226: 70%

Huntu’s perception warned him of immense danger coming from behind. Unfortunately, he had been so focused on Vlad’s barrage and searching for an opening that he neglected it, allowing a shield charged with immense power to crash into him.

"BOOOMMM!"

The shield struck with overwhelming force on the back of the High Champion Abyssal Demon, breaking his stance, fracturing his bones, and pushing him forward with overwhelming strength. This was exactly what Vlad had been waiting for as he drove his blades forward, each aimed at the demon’s shoulders.

Normally, Vlad’s blades would not have been able to pierce the dark red lightning mantle, but with the impulse from the shield, they did. Immediately, the Depravita of Wrath unleashed the last stream of his energy, destroying the bones around his blades, obliterating Huntu’s shoulders, and causing his arms to fall to the ground.

Absolute shock appeared in the High Champion Abyssal’s eyes as he saw himself so severely maimed, but even in that state, he did not beg and simply glared at Vlad with eyes full of hatred and killing intent, awaiting the final blow.

Yet, instead of a massive blow to the head that would shatter his skull and force his soul to dissipate, what came to him were massive arcs of lightning that covered his body and energy pool. Huntu fell to the ground, paralyzed. Confusion arose in his eyes as he did not understand what was happening.

Vlad saw the confusion in the High Champion Abyssal but did not bother with it. While he respected the Abyssal’s straightforwardness and battle will, they were still his enemies, and he owed them nothing more than death.

After a brief glance at Huntu, Vlad turned to the young woman standing in front of him and smiled. "Thanks for the help. I knew I could count on you."

Freya smiled and nodded toward Vlad before turning around and flashing back to the battlefield with the demonic horde. They had already killed most of it, but there were no more dark demon summons left, and Jormungandr could not handle the rest alone, not with so little Magic left in his energy pool.

Vlad watched as the small yellow cat and the young Viking princess fought the horde but did not join them. The truth was that there was no more Force left in his energy pool, and he needed to rest unless he wanted the backlash of Heart of Wrath to leave him unconscious. So he just sat on the ground, consumed a potion, and began eating large amounts of Champion Monster’s meat.

The battle carried on for another half an hour, with Jormungandr and Freya killing all the demonic beasts. Of the eleven demon Champions in the horde, eight were left paralyzed by lightning while the other three perished. Freya had done her best not to kill the demon Champions, but facing so many enemies, she did not have the luxury of constantly controlling her power, and when in danger, she was forced to use killing blows.

After the battle was finally over, the duo put the paralyzed bodies of the demon Champions next to Huntu, and Jormungandr reinforced the lightning chains on them, ensuring they could not move or use their energy to self-destruct.

With that taken care of, the trio simply threw themselves to the ground and began to rest. None of them worried about someone coming their way as, after the destruction of this horde, there were no more demons present in Sunshine City.

Vlad rested for seven hours before finally rising from the ground and walking toward the demon Champions. He showed a wide smile and, without further delay, stood in front of one that resembled a massive centipede and brought out a parchment with a runic formation before charging it with his energy.

The demon centipede could not move, but terror arose in its eyes as it saw black, thin tendrils emerge from the runic formation and flash into its body. Immediately, immense agony assaulted it as the tendrils extended through its entire body, reaching an extreme once they advanced into its soul.

It did not take long for the tendrils to take hold of everything inside the demon Champion before retracting into the parchment, leaving nothing but an empty husk behind. Suddenly, a stream of golden Force emerged and flashed into Jormungandr.

Vlad was a little surprised since no Origin Force had emerged with previous soul sealing, but it was not hard to understand. The Plane Will did not give Origin Force to Freya, but it did recognize the small yellow cat as an inhabitant, which was why it provided the golden power.

As for Vlad, he did not obtain anything since it seemed that the Plane Will did not consider someone worthy of Origin Force just for delivering a final blow to an enemy that could no longer fight back.

Vlad did not really care about that small amount of Origin Force and focused his eyes on the rune in the form of a centipede that was now in the center of the parchment. A wide smile appeared on his face as he felt the intense soul force emanating from it.

[Beep! Soul integrity: 70.2%]

Happiness turned into pure bliss as Vlad heard the robotic voice of the A.I. Chip echoed in his mind. In the past few weeks, he had performed soul sealing on thirty-four demon Champions, reaching a whopping 69.8% in terms of soul integrity.

Now that Vlad applied what he learned in the last experience with this new soul, he finally reached the highly anticipated soul integrity of 70%.

’Finally! With 70% soul integrity, the demon soul will be able to endure the next phase of the project.’ Vlad was extremely excited but did not immediately carry on. He turned his gaze to the rest of the demons.

Seventy percent soul integrity was the bare minimum, and the higher the percentage, the more power the demon soul would be able to unleash.
