Chapter 187: Ouroboros, the Depravita of Greed (II)
Just as he had become smart enough to understand the pain of losing a loved one forever, Oro had also become wise enough to understand the gratification of revenge.
"Woof!" It was a simple bark, yet the meaning behind it was clear. The small white dog’s eyes were full of determination as he resolved to keep his master’s memory alive forever and to bury those who dared to take him away.
Mirena smiled, tears falling from her eyes as she saw the small white dog’s desire to live reawaken, filling her heart with bliss and joy. Oro was a member of her family and was extremely glad to see that he would not leave her side. The next second, Vlad’s gaze on her awakened her from her daze, and she immediately nodded before moving away, leaving the duo alone.
After ensuring no one was close to them, Vlad focused on the small white dog. Seeing the resolution and willpower in those eyes, he nodded with absolute focus and determination, placing his right hand over the small dog’s head and pushing his focus to the limit.
The power of the Depravita Sky in Vlad’s Soul Dimension began to thrive, and its energy burst as it granted Vlad the energy required to ignite an ability that would literally sunder his soul.
"I call upon the power of Venganza, the First Depravita.
The power of the Seven Sins, I summon.
Split my soul, forever divided."
The moment Vlad uttered those words, a dark force appeared. It channeled all the negative emotions that flooded the sky and the chaotic psychic energy that permeated the area.
Mirena, Freya, Grand Marshal Anglius, Chief Councilor Aloz, and the bloodline soldiers saw the dark force surrounding the young man with a powerful and monstrous intent. All of them were confused, not knowing what was happening.
The only one who remained calm was the small yellow cat. It was the first time Jormungandr saw it with his own eyes, but he knew this process was what brought him back to life and changed his soul and body beyond the limits of his race.
"You chose him? Good." Jormungandr smiled as he saw the dark energy flooding the area, happy to see that the small white dog would be the new member of his family.
Vlad was performing the Seven Sins Ritual. The first one was performed on Jormungandr, and now that Vlad had awakened his Depravita Sky and advanced to the next stage of his Depravita Path, he was able to perform it once more.
Vlad showed no hesitation or fear as he focused on the small white dog, who looked back with eyes devoid of any fear and doubt, reassuring the Depravita of Wrath as he carried on with the ritual.
"I give you my soul’s greed.
Soul divided, forever as one.
Reborn as Codicia, the Avaricious!"
As soon as Vlad finished the incantation, most of the energy in the Depravita Sky was consumed. It would take a long time to recharge, but none of that mattered now. The dark aura exploded with an intensity that seemed to swallow the graveyard, enveloping both the Depravita of Wrath and the white dog.
Such a phenomenon was seen throughout the entire Silent Wind Military Base. Despite the ominous aura it unleashed, the people in the base couldn’t help but feel that something wondrous was happening, which would entail a period of great glory for their kingdom.
The dark aura reached its zenith and surged into the deepest part of Vlad’s existence, reaching his soul with an ominous force that sent shivers down his spine.
Vlad had already experienced this pain, so he thought maybe the second time would not be so horrible. Yet when the force tore a piece of his soul, the agony was beyond comprehension, a searing pain that eclipsed any nightmare. It was an anguish so horrible that no preparation could brace one for it. But he clenched his teeth, his eyes locked onto the small white dog, refusing to succumb, using his sheer willpower to remain conscious.
Having ripped a piece of Vlad’s soul, the dark force flowed into the small white dog, shrouding it in a thick, impenetrable darkness. The phenomenon’s power grew more intense with each passing second, heralding the rise of something extremely powerful and unique.
The dark vortex clouded Vlad’s vision, preventing him from seeing Oro’s condition. As the soul-wrenching pain gradually subsided, he smiled, knowing the small white dog’s willpower remained strong. When the excruciating torment finally faded, a triumphant smile broke through his sweat-drenched face.
The dark energy that permeated the graveyard soon faded, revealing Vlad’s exhausted figure. Next to him was no longer a small white dog but a one-and-a-half-meter-tall white wolf with black eyes. Its fangs were large and ready to tear through anything, and its claws were sharp and seemed capable of ripping a vehicle to pieces.
Vlad was a little surprised to see the massive change in Oro and the bursting strength of his body. Up to a few minutes ago, he was just a tiny, normal dog, but now he was a wolf capable of killing a pack of lions. ’It makes sense. After all, I am stronger this time than when I performed the ritual on Jormungandr. It makes sense for Oro to grow more powerful after absorbing a piece of my soul.’
"Master!" The massive wolf spoke in a voice full of respect and gratitude the next second. The transformation had generated a burst in his wisdom, and he understood the changes that had happened to his existence. He could feel the power running through his veins and knew it would only grow, giving him a chance to get revenge.
Vlad focused on Oro, a solemn light in his eyes as he spoke with a voice full of might and authority. "You are now the Depravita of Greed and deserve a name worthy of your status. In honor of my brother who called you Oro, I now bestow upon you the name Ouroboros!"
