Chapter 123: Tesla Anchor

Chapter 123: Tesla Anchor

"They will explode one second after perishing or if you attack their heads with enough strength, causing an explosion with a 5-meter diameter. They are not strong but very fast!" Vlad shouted before clutching his sword with both hands. The key to facing them was to kill them from a moderate distance so he could use his Force Skill.

Jormungandr remained on Vlad’s shoulder, his eyes sharp as he stared at the Corrupted Lightning Elementals, and his energy began to rise higher and higher.

Using lightning spells against Thunder Elementals was not very different from trying to turn off a bonfire with gasoline. However, there was no way Jormungandr wouldn’t have a method to handle enemies nearly impervious to the spell specialization he had chosen.

"Tesla Anchor!" A glowing blue energy coalesced around the small yellow cat’s mouth, which then extended into the air, coalescing dozens of meters in the sky, forming a large, ethereal anchor composed of crackling electric energy and arcane symbols.

"HUUUUMMMMMMMM!"

The anchor emitted a constant hum and sparkled with electrical energy, creating an aura that attracted and absorbed lightning in the air and the ground. If that were all, it would not be of any use in the fight since the lack of environmental lightning energy did not make a difference for the Corrupted Thunder Elementals, but the spell had a second level.

Jormungandr’s eyes burned with focus as he channeled the full might of his energy pool into the anchor, pushing the power of the spell to the next level, not only attracting but forcibly absorbing any form of lightning in the area.

A flash of shock appeared in the Corrupted Lightning Elementals as they saw how the anchor was absorbing not only the lightning in their surroundings but also the lightning inside their bodies. The anchor was essentially consuming their lifeblood, the substance that kept their elemental bodies working.

"AHHHH!" The Corrupted Lightning Elementals seemed to enter a frenzy as they saw the lightning in their bodies being absorbed by the anchor. So they marched toward the little cat that was casting the spell, using thunderous force to propel themselves at a shocking speed.

Vlad, Freya, and Grey Hawk did not remain idle, each of them attacking the Corrupted Lightning Elementals with all their power. The trio knew just how important the Tesla Anchor was on the battlefield, so Vlad immediately began to strike the incoming elementals while the vikings intercepted their paths.

Vlad moved with lethal efficiency, his sword a blur of motion as he cut through the approaching elementals. He used Force Skills to unleash arcs of energy that sliced through their chests, pushing them back and preventing their explosions from causing harm. When an elemental got too close, Vlad kicked it away with a powerful strike, sending it tumbling back to explode harmlessly.

Freya was a whirlwind of force, her mace swinging with crushing power. She used her shield to block and deflect attacks while her mace sent elementals flying. Each strike was precise, targeting the chests to avoid triggering their explosive heads. Her movements were fluid, her eyes darting through the battlefield as she kept the elementals at bay.

Grey Hawk had jumped to a massive rock and, from a higher vantage point, launched ice spikes with deadly accuracy. His spells struck the heads of the Corrupted Lightning Elementals, causing them to explode in the distance. He tracked the elementals with unerring precision, ensuring each spike hit its mark and kept the elementals from closing in on Jormungandr.

The old viking was also very keen on his attack, aiming at the Corrupted Thunder Elementals in the middle of the groups, making them explode. While the lighting blast did not cause too much damage to the other monster, it hindered their movements and diminished the pressure on Freya and Vlad.

Jormungandr remained on Vlad’s shoulder, focused on channeling more and more of his Magic into the Tesla Anchor. As the anchor absorbed more and more of the lightning from the elementals, its aura intensified, creating a pulsating field that weakened the elementals further.

The group used the rocky, mountainous terrain to their advantage, maneuvering between jagged rocks and narrow paths.

Vlad leaped from rock to rock, using the elevation to strike from above and push the elementals back, ensuring no harm would reach Jormungandr. Freya used the rocks as natural barriers, creating choke points where she could take down multiple elementals with a single swing of her mace, making sure they would die far away from her location.

Grey Hawk froze the ground around the rock he stood on, making it hard for the elementals to get near him and keep firing his ice spikes.

The air was filled with the sounds of battle—metal clashing against elemental bodies, explosions reverberating through the mountains due to lighting blasts, and the hum of the Tesla Anchor. The Corrupted Lightning Elementals, though numerous and fast, found themselves overwhelmed by the group’s coordinated assault.

Every second that passed, the Tesla Anchor consumed more lightning, weakening the elementals and making them easier targets. Vlad’s energy arcs continued to cut through the weakened swarm, Freya’s mace crushed their bodies, and Grey Hawk’s ice spikes kept impaling their heads.

Despite the elementals’ ferocity, the Depravitas and vikings relentless attacks and strategic use of their environment turned the tide of battle. The elementals’ numbers dwindled, and their attacks became less coordinated as their energy was siphoned away.

The Corrupted Lightning Elementals were strong, but by exploiting their weaknesses and utilizing the Tesla Anchor’s absorption spell, the group neutralized the threat in less than an hour. The battlefield fell silent as the last elemental exploded in a shower of sparks.

Vlad, Freya, Jormungandr, and Grey Hawk took a moment to catch their breath once the enemies were finally over. The ground around them was littered with the broken remnants of the elementals.

Once they were done with the creatures, the group advanced. There was nothing to salvage from the carcasses as everything precious had been destroyed by the blast of unstable demonic lightning energy.
