Chapter 116: Killing the mutated wolves
Chapter 116: Killing the mutated wolves
"Aim for the heads! Their internal organs are riddled with tumors; they probably feel no pain!" Vlad shouted, his voice brimming with confidence as he declared the battle plan for the vikings. Not wasting a second, he triggered his Bloodline Ability, and lightning flooded through his weapon and body as he charged forward with immense momentum.
The mutated wolves roared as they saw the human marching toward them. A burst of demonic energy enhanced their strength as they lunged with bloodlust, their fangs and claws aiming to tear flesh. However, before they could even reach the young man, dozens of bolts of white lightning blasted into their group, killing several and paralyzing the rest.
Vlad’s cold smile appeared as his sword, coated in white Force and lightning, cut through the heads of the paralyzed mutated beasts. He moved like a reaper, with each swing taking a life.
Freya’s eyes widened as she saw the young man and the little cat’s battle styles. Their flawless coordination amplified their overall power beyond the sum of their parts. She understood that such synergy required complete trust in each other, something incredibly difficult to achieve.
Of course, the young woman did not lose focus. Less than a second after Vlad shouted the battle strategy, her body burst with power, and she flashed forward at shocking speed. Her mace moved with incredible momentum, blasting the mutated beasts with a single swing. Even if she didn’t aim for the head, it didn’t matter, as a strike from her mace would destroy the monsters’ bodies due to her overwhelming strength.
In less than five seconds, Freya had already killed half a dozen mutated wolves. Despite their feral appearance, the beasts displayed tactical intelligence, surrounding her and attacking from the left flank.
Freya saw with coldness how the wolves lunged toward her from her blind spot, but she showed no worry as she was not alone.
"Ice Wall!" Grey Hawk shouted as his magic burst, generating a massive ice wall next to Freya, stopping the advance of the mutated wolves.
"Grreeegggg!" The wolves roared as they saw the ice wall appear between them and the young woman. Their eyes searched for new prey and focused on the massive viking who had just cast the spell.
Grey Hawk watched as the pack of wolves turned toward him and lunged with ferocity. His eyes remained focused as he channeled his magic into his hands, forming a growing mass of icy energy.
"Frost Cone!" The old Viking shouted as a cone of frost and ice shot out from his hands, spreading in a wide arc that enveloped all the mutated wolves lunging toward him.
The air within the cone sparkled with frost particles, and the temperature dropped dramatically. Instantly, the mutated wolves were covered in a layer of ice, reducing their mobility as the ice froze their bodies.
The mutated wolves seemed not to feel the cold and continued marching against the tempest. They were quickly frozen, most encased in ice, before they could get near the old Viking.
However, one of the mutated wolves managed to push through the freezing energy, its demonic energy bursting as it lunged toward the old viking, its maw open and ready to bite his neck.
Grey Hawk’s eyes widened as he saw that one of the mutated wolves had resisted the power of his Champion Tier spell, and there was no time to cast another spell. Yet, there was no fear in the old Viking.
"Hmph, stupid beast!" The old viking sneered as he clenched his right fist and punched the mutated wolf with such strength that he sent the monster flying away.
Even though Grey Hawk followed the Mage Path and his totems were designed to enhance his spellcasting ability, they still granted him a very powerful body, more than enough to send a semi-frozen Level 6 mutated beast flying away.
A second after the old viking took care of that pack, a pillar of lightning energy emerged from Jormungandr’s body and began to condense in the air. The eyes of the small yellow cat glowed with focus as he cast the spell he had been charging.
"Thunder Eagles!" A dozen eagles began to form, each of them nearly two meters large. The air hummed with electrical energy, and the outline of each eagle glowed with an intense blue-white light.
Freya and Grey Hawk were focused on their own battles, not allowing any distractions, but they still glanced at the sky from the corner of their eyes, awe appearing in their hearts as they saw the lightning eagles.
Each eagle seemed to carry the power of a weak Champion Spell and was moving. The spiritual control required for such a skill was something even ancient Mages with decades of training could not generate.
Jormungandr’s talent and soul force were impressive, but he could not take all the credit. This was one of his most potent creations with the A.I. Chip, and it was using this tool that he managed to fulfill the mental requirements for such focus-requiring spells.
The face of the small yellow cat turned pale, and even with his Runic Set and Racial Ability, the spell consumed nearly half of his total energy pool. However, it was worth it as he marked several points on the battlefield with the A.I. Chip.
"HAWWWW!"
A cry echoed across the air as three lightning eagles blasted into the mutated wolf pack surrounding Vlad.
"BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!"
Immediately, each of those eagles exploded with immense might, leaving deep craters and pulverizing everything around them in a radius of fifteen meters. They also sent lightning waves in all directions, stunning the rest of the monsters.
Moving through a battlefield where explosions reigned in all directions was a nightmarish scenario, but not for Vlad, as the A.I. Chip guided his every move.
[Move left seventeen meters to escape the range of the explosion! Next, attack to the right at an angle of 47° to kill an incoming enemy!]
