Chapter 85: Kiss for a secret (2)

Xavier did not believe she would kiss him so early on. He was patient since he knew it would take some time for Selene to warm up to it, yet she was ready to kiss him for one of his secrets.

Had he known she would one day accept the deal, Xavier would have made it pricier. It should be two kisses for a secret instead of one. It felt like he was losing here.

Still, Xavier welcomed her to get what she wanted. He did not get up from his chair since his lap was the perfect seat for Selene to use.

Selene now questioned whether she should kiss him. His shock was replaced with enjoyment since he was finally getting what he wanted. She cursed herself for being too curious about his talents.

"Why can’t it be a secret for a secret? There is much about me that you do not know. Aren’t you curious?" Selene asked.

"I’m sure your secrets aren’t as good as mine. Don’t try to back out of this now when you just put on a good show. What happened to you being stronger than you look? Was that all a lie?" Xavier asked, his smile further taunting Selene.

Selene had a secret Xavier should be curious about. It was one where she was going to hurt him if he continued to be this way.

Selene cautiously approached Xavier to start the deal. She knew he wanted her to sit on his lap but she also knew how dangerous that would be. It would be too easy for him to trap her there.

"You must stand," Selene said since that was the only way she would kiss him.

"I’m afraid my feet are unable to move. Would you be so kind and sit here?" Xavier asked, tapping his lap for where she could sit. "What are you afraid of?"

Selene knew not to answer that since he would only twist it. "It will not always be this way. One day, I will have you backed into a corner not knowing what to do."

"It sounds like you are tempting me with a good time. Can that day come soon?" Xavier said, trying to hold his laughter as Selene’s annoyance grew.

At least she was annoyed with him and not what was said by others.

Selene walked fast to get it over with and sat on his lap. "I should be on your side at all times but I understand why many might have a headache when speaking to you. Do you enjoy teasing or upsetting others?"

Xavier placed his hands around her waist to keep her seated. "I enjoy this," he replied.

Selene glared at Xavier. "You know that wasn’t what I meant. How can I trust you will give me the right answer when you like to dance around the truth sometimes?"

"You can trust me since I have been quite honest with you. For how long do you intend to drag this out, Selene? If you do not want to kiss me then you are free to get up and we may move on. If you will then you must hurry. My secrets are on the tip of my tongue," Xavier said, his patience slowly slipping.

Selene planned to see it through since she was already so bold to sit on his lap. She did not understand why she acted this way. He would not be the first man she ever kissed but for some reason, he made her far more nervous than those times.

Selene closed the small space between them and aimed for his cheek. She knew this wasn’t the kiss he wanted but she had to start here to prepare herself.

"Now, I’m sure you don’t expect that to satisfy me," Xavier said.

Normally, Xavier would be annoyed but he enjoyed the teasing. He knew this was harder on Selene than it was on him.

"I am aware," Selene muttered.

Selene pinned his hands to her side so he couldn’t move them to do anything more and this time, she kissed him on his lips.

Xavier had always only tapped his lips but he never stated how intimate the kisses needed to be. She was following the deal by doing this.

Selene backed away from Xavier when she felt his tongue trying to slip between her lips. She covered his mouth so he would not try to continue. "I held up my end of the deal. You said a kiss on the lips. You should be more specific next time if it needs to be more intimate. Now tell me, what is your secret?"

Xavier licked her hand and earned his freedom to speak without her hand covering his mouth. "That was hardly a kiss, Selene. We are not children."

"I did as you asked," Selene replied. "We don’t need to go so far."

"If only I could show you how you look now. Then you would see that you don’t believe what you say. It is not wrong to want a little more. I am your husband," said Xavier.

He knew that she was interested in a real kiss but she was nervous. It wasn’t long since they got married but it was times like this that he found unfortunate she was not ready to open her heart to him.

Xavier thought he could wait but the more he was around Selene, the more he wanted her. He hoped Selene would soon realise he was sincere with how he acted with her.

"I can see that you are curious, Selene. I promise you, I will not hurt you if you give me a try. You say that you are willing to open your heart to someone again but there is a wall you cannot get around. I will be patient," Xavier said, moving on from the kiss though he was disappointed.

Selene had taken small steps today so he could accept that for now. Days before this, Selene would never have considered kissing him over a deal.

Selene looked down to avoid his gaze. She was tempted to take it further and that was the very thing that scared her. She experienced the same desires others did and with the man sitting beneath her, there were plenty of thoughts she had to keep to herself.

It should be easy to just kiss him and see what happens from there but there was a small part of her that worried about the chance of getting hurt. So far, she knew that he wouldn’t hurt her but her mind wouldn’t stop thinking there could be a betrayal.

"A little more time," Selene requested from Xavier. "You have sorted your feelings. I am afraid that I might give in to the current desires I have and the feelings you have are not there. I do not want to feel like I am using you to satisfy what I want and I do not share your feelings."

"Have you forgotten the offer I had made? If you want to go to bed with me without any feelings then I am more than happy to do my part and not think anything of it. I am always ready when you are," said Xavier.

Selene got up from his lap before trouble arose. "You shouldn’t make such an offer."

"Oh, but I must. I can’t have you thinking of using someone else to satisfy what you feel and please, if it becomes too much to hide. Do tell me what is happening in that wonderful mind you have. I am quite interested in it," Xavier said, enjoying her reveal that she desired him in that way.
