Chapter 121: Worried Her Eyes Playing Tricks On Her

"It’s fine, Brody..." Abigail immediately stopped Brody, who looked like he wanted to beat Lana. She faintly smiled at him, trying to make him less tense.

"Brody, she won’t harm me. Please wait for me for a minute..." Abigail added. When she saw Brody’s reluctance to move, she realized he must have seen Lana in the meeting room with Kian earlier and thought Lana might harm her.

After watching Brody walk away and stand in the closest corner of the room, Abigail turned to Lana.

"Do you have any questions for me, Lana?" she asked coldly.

Lana immediately nodded and stepped closer, standing just a step away from Abigail. "I’m sorry, Abigail. I know I hurt you with my stance on Kian, but—" Her voice trailed off when she saw Abigail raise her hand to signal her to stop.

"I forgive you, Lana. I understand why you feel that way." She paused for a light chuckle. "Although I felt I’ve known you for an eternity, the truth is we’ve only been best friends for a very short period while you’ve known him for years, so I can see why you might doubt me. There’s no need to feel sorry for me."

"Thank you, Abigail." Lana’s expression began to relax upon hearing Abigail’s words.

Abigail remained silent but nodded. Just as she was about to move again, Lana’s following words nearly took her breath away.

"And, Abigail, I hope you can forgive Kian too. Even if he tried to harass you in the end, he didn’t, right? It’s just that I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive him. Can you still work at the café? I promise you won’t have to work at the same time as him, and I will raise your salary..."

Abigail was rendered speechless. She didn’t expect Lana to stoop this low, begging forgiveness for a predator like Kian Blake.

Gosh!

Instantly, Abigail felt bitter. Since the first time she met Lana, she has been grateful to her because Lana has sincerely helped her when she needed it the most.

Even though Abigail was disappointed with Lana’s actions in the meeting room, she didn’t hold it against her; she respected her decision.

But now? This woman had convinced her that she no longer needed to feel grateful to her. Lana didn’t deserve that gratitude.

Trying to suppress her anger and disappointment, Abigail took a deep breath and looked at Brody. Noticing his growing impatience, she turned back to Lana.

"Lana, I won’t let someone as evil as Kian go free," Abigail replied curtly, leaving Lana shocked by her words.

"Let’s go, Brody..." Abigail walked away from Lana and out of the Oracle County police station building. She no longer had the patience to speak to her, mainly when they talked about that predator, Kian.

Brody sent a displeased glare at Lana before matching Abigail’s stride.

While walking, Brody leaned closer and whispered, "Miss, do you want me to take care of that woman for you?" He asked seriously, unwilling to let anyone again stress his boss’s woman.

Abigail smiled as she quickly glanced at Brody. "Thanks, Brody, but you don’t have to do that. I can take care of her."

"Please let me know if you need my help—" Brody’s words trailed off when he noticed Abigail suddenly stop in her tracks. She froze in place, staring intently in a specific direction.

He turned to follow her line of sight and silently gulped when he saw his boss standing not far from them.

"B-Brody, do you see the man standing near the black jeep?" Abigail turned to Brody, her voice filled with concern.

"That man over there, Sawyer, right? My boyfriend? Did you see him too?" she asked, worried her eyes were playing tricks on her. How could Sawyer suddenly appear here? Wasn’t he still in M Country?

"Miss, you’re right. That’s Mr.—" Brody chuckled inwardly as he watched her dash away from him.

Abigail no longer heard Brody’s words. It felt like a force was emerging within her, urging her legs from a walk to a run.

She was afraid that Sawyer, standing in front of her, might be an illusion, that he would disappear the moment she blinked.

Tears flowed down her cheeks as she saw his face more clearly, a concerned smile on his lips.

"Sawyer..." she whispered, slipping into his warm embrace. She wrapped her arms around his waist and began to cry.

Sawyer’s comforting hug gave Abigail strength and confidence. She no longer had to worry about anything; he was there!

"Abby, I’m sorry for making you feel so alone. I’m sorry I came so late..." His voice trembled with anger, knowing what had happened to her while he was far away.

"No, Sawyer," she replied, looking up to meet his gaze. Her tears continued to fall, soaking her cheeks as she said, "This is my fault. I know that man had malicious intent toward me, but I still fell for his nasty tricks. I’m sorry for making you worry—"

"Abby... Abby? Abigail...?" Sawyer called in shock as he felt her strength give way, her legs no longer supporting her weight. He quickly scooped her up, cradling her in a princess carry.

When he saw her still breathing, a wave of relief washed over him.

"Sir... what happened?" Brody rushed over to them.

"She’s asleep!" Sawyer replied.

"Sir, let me drive for you..." Brody offered, guiding him to his SUV parked next to Sawyer’s jeep.

Sawyer nodded and followed Brody to the vehicle. After gently placing Abigail in the back seat with her head resting on his lap, he took his car keys and handed them to the man outside the car.

"Vincent, bring my car to my house. And call the doctor. I need him to check Abby when we arrive!" Sawyer instructed.

"Yes, Boss!" Vincent responded before leaving.

Now sitting behind the wheel, Brody was shocked to see Vincent suddenly appear. He thought Vincent was in Orange Town. ’Did Boss summon him suddenly because of Abigail’s matter?’

"Brody! What are you waiting for? Drive home immediately!" Sawyer instructed, his attention shifting back to Abigail on his lap.

"Yes, sir—"
