Dao San Qian was currently standing in a relatively empty area. It wasn’t naturally this empty, but rather, most of the structures around had been destroyed by the monsters.

He was about to go and look for the soldiers of this fortress when he suddenly noticed people running towards him.

He then ran towards where the soldiers were running from. When the soldiers saw him approaching, they also ran towards him and said:

"Thank you for saving us."

"Do you have more explosives?"

One soldier immediately replied:

Dao San Qian nodded upon hearing this and asked:

"Alright. Quickly tell me the fortress lord’s location, I don’t have much time."

The soldier, with a serious expression, pointed in the direction the fortress lord had moved and said:

"After splitting up, the fortress lord went that way, so you might meet him if you go in that direction."

"Thank you." Dao San Qian nodded and immediately hurried away.

The soldiers felt grateful in their hearts. They said:

"Thank you for saving us."

"Alright, can you give me the explosives quickly? There are other fortresses that need rescue right now."

"Is your condition still good? If not, I think you should rest for a while before moving on to the next fortress."

But the other soldiers seemed to want to say something similar. Dao San Qian looked at them and somewhat understood the reason for their question.

They weren’t asking him to stay and protect them, but because they didn’t know exactly how strong Dao San Qian was.

They were worried that if he pushed himself too hard and died in battle, it would harm more than benefit humanity. Moreover, they were very grateful to him and couldn’t bear to see him go to his death.

The fortress lord and the soldiers were happy to hear his agreement. The fortress lord laughed and said:

"Alright, let’s go quickly."

They quickly rode to where the explosives were stored. They didn’t actually use much of the explosives they carried. Their sole purpose in using explosives was to injure the monsters to buy time for the people to escape.

It’s not that they hadn’t tried using explosives to kill the monsters. At first, they had brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to injure the monsters, but the monsters’ rapid recovery made them desperate. They had no choice but to continuously flee.

After Dao San Qian arrived, the doctor quickly treated his injuries. Immediately after, he took the prepared explosives and said:

"Thank you."

He then left without waiting for those remaining to say anything. As they watched his quickly disappearing figure, everyone felt an indescribable sense of gratitude.

A soldier approached the fortress lord and said:

"Sir, he saved our lives, but we don’t even know his name. And even though he doesn’t need our thanks, I think we should still do something to show our gratitude."

Those present also nodded, they wanted to do the same. Although Dao San Qian might not have needed it, this gesture could have made them feel relieved so it was also a good thing to do.

The fortress lord pondered for a moment, then said:

"He has a heart to help others without expecting anything in return. He is like a deity appearing to help the people here escape from darkness and despair. Even though he doesn’t need our gratitude, we will not forget his kindness. I command that we immediately help the people stabilize their lives, and be ready to evacuate at any time because we don’t know when the monsters will appear again. After stabilizing everything, we will build a shrine to the Guardian God so that future generations cannot forget his kindness on this day."

Those present immediately obeyed the order and began to help the people stabilize their lives after the massacre by the monsters. Meanwhile, Dao San Qian had no idea that a timeless legend about a great guardian god had begun to spread in the world.
