Chapter 67: Continuing to Kill Monsters

Facing the approaching monster, Dao San Qian leaped into the air and delivered another punch to the head of one of the monsters. The monster staggered back, its mouth agape.

Dao San Qian was planning to jump into the mouth of this monster to attack from within, avoiding the effort of striking its tough skin. However, the other monster slapped him from the left.

Dao San Qian had no time to react, so he could only raise his hand to block the blow. He was sent flying dozens of meters by the monster’s slap.

He crashed into a house, the sound of shattering echoing as the collision caused the house to crumble, releasing a cloud of dust that obscured visibility. From within the dusty haze of the debris, Dao San Qian quickly got up.

He wasn’t severely injured because, after all, he was stronger. At this moment, something quite strange happened. Despite the dusty haze obscuring his vision, Dao San Qian couldn’t see clearly what was happening, but the monsters seemed unaffected by the obscured visibility.

While his vision was unclear, the two monsters suddenly charged towards him. Although he could hear the sound, he could only roughly determine their positions, unable to predict every move of the monsters.

One of the monsters used its sharp claws to accurately stab towards Dao San Qian’s abdomen. In an instant, the sharp claws only grazed his body slightly, and Dao San Qian quickly caught the claw to block the attack.

However, he couldn’t entirely prevent the attack. His abdomen was pierced by a hole over three centimeters deep. But without a wound to distract him, he immediately grabbed the claw tightly and used its body as a whip to strike away the other monster.

The two monsters were sent flying far away together, the force Dao San Qian used was considerable, causing many parts of the monsters’ bodies to be crushed. They couldn’t recover momentarily.

"Damn, these claws are sharp to this extent. It’s fortunate that the area around it is flat. Otherwise, my hand would be injured." Dao San Qian thought.

Then he immediately jumped out of the dusty area, he said:

"It seems like these things don’t use their eyes to observe. No, I should say their eyes are not like those of humans."

However, at this moment, there were some courageous soldiers behind, carrying barrels of ignited explosives. They rushed straight toward the two monsters lying on the ground with determination.

They had initially been desperate, but the appearance of Dao San Qian gave them hope for battle. But as he disappeared into the dust, they almost despaired again. However, seeing the two monsters unable to move at this moment, they decided to take a chance.

With several large barrels of explosives, they intended to use their lives in exchange for the lives of the monsters.

Their families, relatives, and friends were plentiful just moments ago, but within a short time, few remained. They didn’t want this dreadful situation to continue.

Now that there was a chance to destroy the monsters, even if it meant sacrificing their lives, they had no regrets. As Dao San Qian stepped out of the dust, he was astonished to see this scene. He thought:

"What the hell is that? Why would humans rush to attack? No, they’re not foolish. If they’re charging, there must be a chance of success."

He silently observed for a moment, thinking that if humans truly had a way to deal with the monsters, combining that method with his strength would be much more effective.

At that moment, a loud explosion resounded, and the billowing dust shook Dao San Qian. He understood that they intended to die together with the monsters.

However, their sacrifice didn’t evoke sympathy or emotion from him. To him, it was a choice. He himself would choose to sacrifice, but not for anyone else, rather because it was his path.

What caught his attention the most at this moment was the power of the explosives. His eyes gleamed with light as he witnessed the explosion. He thought:

"Ha ha, excellent. With this support, I can rescue even more strongholds. But humans using these explosives aren’t very effective. If they could stuff the explosives into the monsters’ mouths, it would certainly have a greater impact."

He ran to where the two monsters were and quickly separated their cores from their bodies. The two monsters slowly dissolved into the air.

However, other soldiers gradually approached to assess the situation. Since there was no immediate danger, they decided to take a look.

Seeing Dao San Qian emerge from the dust, the group breathed a sigh of relief.

Approaching them, Dao San Qian asked:

"What was that thing that caused such a huge stir just now?"

The soldiers were taken aback by the question but still answered:

"Sir, that was explosives. However, we couldn’t keep up with the monsters’ speed and strength, so it wasn’t very effective."

Dao San Qian nodded upon hearing this and said:

"Do you have more explosives? And are there still many monsters here? Are they larger than these three?"

"Yes, sir. According to reports, there are five monsters to the south and four to the north. Their sizes are similar to these three. As for explosives, we still have quite a lot." the soldier promptly replied.

"Alright, then gather the explosives and prepare them for me. I’ll head south to deal with the monsters first, then run to the northern side of the fortress. You transfer all the explosives to the north." Dao San Qian instructed.

"Sir, are you okay with your injuries?" the soldier asked.

"It’s fine. If we hesitate, more people will die." Dao San Qian said before immediately running off.

The soldiers were stunned for a moment as they watched his figure disappear. One of them said:

"Is this a god? Can a human be that powerful?"

"I’m not sure, but it seems likely. After all, if monsters appear, it’s not unusual for gods to exist." another soldier replied.

"That’s great! With the help of a god, humanity is saved this time."

.....

After that, they quickly followed Dao San Qian’s instructions. Time was pressing, with lives lost every passing second. However, it was quite peculiar that only humans were targeted. All other species were killed by the monsters unintentionally, without being eaten.

.....

Some time ago in the capital, Chu Wu and three others stood before a black egg-shaped object. Sensing something strange, he said:

"Do you find this strange? When these things fell into the capital, many civilians were evacuated. If they had fallen just a few hours ago, many people would have died."

Yan Meng Long seemed to guess what was happening. She said:

"This may be related to the purpose of whoever created them. They don’t resemble living creatures at all, so it’s likely they are creations of some extremely powerful being."

Hearing her speculation, Chu Wu felt everything become more and more dangerous. He thought:

"This sounds very absurd, but it’s not impossible. Although this is the last thing I want to happen, perhaps there really is some incredibly powerful being targeting Earth. Haiz, the things I need to do are really becoming more and more difficult."
