Chapter 61: Return to Kunlun Mountains

Xia Ni took the opportunity to invite his new friends to stay. Anyway, calling the living conditions here the best in the world is not an exaggeration.

"So, do you have any plans on where to go or what to do next? If not, you might as well stay here for a while." he suggested.

Jun Wu Xiao pondered for a moment. He had traveled enough for the time being and had made some new friends, so it seemed about time to return.

"Thank you for your kindness, but I think I should go back and continue my secluded cultivation. Ordinary people might not understand, but those of us who have chosen this path obviously won’t stop until we reach the end of it." Jun Wu Xiao expressed.

Everyone nodded in agreement. Though they had been playful during their travels, they understood there were more important matters at hand. For them, cultivation was always the priority.

While Jun Wu Xiao and Chu Wu were a bit different, the others knew they needed to become stronger at all costs, though why they needed such strength remained a mystery.

"If so, that’s good. After all, cultivation is extremely important to us, not just something we do for fun." Xia Ni agreed.

This time, from the moment they left the Kunlun Mountains, they had been traveling for over a month. However, it’s not like resting for a month because while they’re running they’re also cultivating, so it’s not completely resting.

"Xia Ni, we should say our goodbyes here. Try to cultivate well. We will come to see you again in the future." Jun Wu Xiao said.

Xia Ni nodded, understanding well that he was not one to be lazy or overly playful. As a crown prince, he had plenty of opportunities for amusement if he wished but he didn’t do that.

"Alright, we will meet again." he responded.

After that, everyone said goodbye and left his mansion. Of course, the way they came in is the way they go out now, not through the main door. Otherwise, they will be chased for illegal entry.

Clinging to the wall, Jun Wu Xiao peered around. Noticing no one was nearby, he signaled everyone to jump over.

To be honest, at that moment, their appearance resembled a group of professional thieves. If anyone had seen them, the impression of Chu Wu in their minds would have certainly changed.

The seven of them landed gently on the ground. At that point, Chu Wu said:

"Before heading back to the Kunlun Mountains, let’s swing by the Chu residence to pick up some items."

"What items?" the three asked in unison.

They couldn’t remember bringing anything with them. When they had traveled to the capital city, they had come empty-handed.

Seeing their puzzled faces, Chu Wu explained:

"It’s not about what you brought, but rather what I’m giving you. The clothes you wore last time were probably old. But I felt that since our future meetings might be increasingly infrequent, I had some highly durable garments made for you. This way, you can wear them without worry."

Understanding this, the three realized that clothes were not items that could be used indefinitely without wear and tear. They now appreciated receiving garments with extended durability, reassuring them for future use.

"So that’s it. We thank you very much." Yue Guang said.

Chu Wu waved his hand and responded:

"No need to be so formal. Even though I often argue with that clown, I am generous enough to let things go."

Jun Wu Xiao wouldn’t be outdone and retorted:

"Huh, what are you acting like? Besides, if you’re arguing with a clown, doesn’t that also make you more equal to a clown?"

"What? You’re admitting you’re a clown to drag me down with you?" Chu Wu said.

"Ha ha, it’s not wrong, so I have nothing to deny. But it’s quite funny that a supposed general is actually a clown." Jun Wu Xiao laughed.

Chu Wu realized he was at a disadvantage this time. While Jun Wu Xiao was a commoner, being called a clown wasn’t surprising. But Chu Wu is a general so being equated to a clown was ironically amusing.

"Ha ha, you two are like that again." the others laughed and said.

"Let’s go back and get the clothes I’ve prepared for you. There’s nothing left to do here anyway." Chu Wu said.

Everyone nodded and headed to the carriage station to return to the Chu residence.

Chu Wu had already prepared everything. Now, Jun Wu Xiao and the other two just needed to collect their items.

After receiving the new clothes, Jun Wu Xiao said:

"Thank you for these clothes. We’ll meet again sometime. Now, you don’t have to worry about dying of old age anymore."

Though Jun Wu Xiao’s tone was playful, Chu Wu was no fool. He understood that when he had his breakthrough, Jun Wu Xiao had genuinely worried that he might die of old age, at least for a moment. Chu Wu laughed and replied:

"Ha ha, don’t worry about me. I’m not that easy to die."

"I know, of course. My friends are no ordinary people; they won’t die easily." Jun Wu Xiao said.

By then, Dao San Qian and Yue Guang were ready to leave. They said:

"Goodbye, Chu Wu. We will return now."

"Good, see you again." Chu Wu nodded in response.

Sheng Yuan, Zhu Ji Feng, and Yan Meng Long also came forward:

"Goodbye, all of you. Next time we meet, we’ll surely have grown even stronger."

"Ha ha, so will we. See you next time." the three of them said before swiftly departing.

Now, unlike before when Dao San Qian was not a cultivator, carrying their belongings was no burden at all.

Their pace was still incredibly fast, but the journey back to the Kunlun Mountains took a few days longer than before.

After bidding them farewell, Chu Wu returned inside and noticed Jun Wu Xiao’s demon mask left on the table. He thought:

"Now, he probably doesn’t need this anymore. A plain mask might be better for hiding one’s identity, but perhaps there will come a day when he won’t hide anymore. However, this mask was the first thing I gave him, so I’ll keep it as a memento."

Then he hung the demon mask on the wall of his room before continuing his secluded cultivation.

A few weeks later, Jun Wu Xiao, Yue Guang, and Dao San Qian returned to their familiar cave. Yue Guang noted:

"The climate up here on the mountain is so different from the capital city. It’s much colder."

The other two nodded, knowing well that higher altitudes tended to be colder. Jun Wu Xiao said:

"Now, let’s store these clothes and continue our cultivation process."

Dao San Qian agreed and said:

"Yes, this rest has been enough. It’s time to focus on our own important work."

The belongings they carried were nothing special, consisting only of clothes. Chu Wu knew that even if he had given them something else, they wouldn’t have used it, so he only provided clothes.

After that, everything returned to its original orbit of daily cultivation. At the royal palace, the Chu residence, and in the Kunlun Mountains, the eight of them resumed their relentless cultivation process, unaware of where it might ultimately lead them.
