Beginning of Cultivation -
Chapter 41: Conversation
Chapter 41: Conversation
Jun Wu Xiao’s group arrived at the Chu residence without bringing anything, so they didn’t need time to settle in.
Chu Wu led everyone into the dining room and began to order food to be brought over. Previously, he had a chef in the house, but since his breakthrough, he had started eating leaves like Jun Wu Xiao, so the chef was sent elsewhere to work.
After everything was prepared, Chu Wu returned to the dining room. Previously, when he was just an ordinary person, he hadn’t noticed, but now that he had reached the late stage of the body refinement realm, he felt that Jun Wu Xiao was incredibly strong.
"How strong are you exactly? I have just achieved my third breakthrough, but I still feel tiny compared to you." Chu Wu curiously asked.
Sheng Yuan, Zhu Ji Feng, and Yan Meng Long also shared the same curiosity. As cultivators, their senses were obviously much sharper than ordinary people.
They thought Dao San Qian was slightly stronger than them, but Yue Guang and Jun Wu Xiao were on a completely different level.
Jun Wu Xiao wasn’t surprised that Chu Wu could perceive this. He said:
"You are not wrong, indeed, I have broken through to a new realm. Do you remember your first breakthrough? Your overall strength tripled, your lifespan increased by fifty years, and your skin and flesh were significantly strengthened. My breakthrough to the new realm was similar, but it also strengthened my bones and added a hundred years to my lifespan."
The four of them were quite astonished, only quite astonished because they could feel that they were only at the beginning steps of their cultivation path. But it was still astonishing to learn a part of the path ahead.
Jun Wu Xiao didn’t stop there, he continued:
"Did it take each of you ten years to achieve your first breakthrough, and nearly eleven years for the subsequent ones, is that right?"
"Yes." all four nodded in response.
Jun Wu Xiao also nodded, if so, his guess was likely correct. The cultivation path is very fair, everyone who wants to cultivate has to try equally hard.
"Then, I think it will take just over twenty-one more years for all four of you to break through to a new realm. The realm you are currently in, I call the body refinement realm. Within the body refinement realm, there are four minor realms: early stage, middle stage, late stage, and peak stage. If I’m not mistaken, having broken through three times, you are now in the late stage of the body refinement realm." Jun Wu Xiao explained.
Hearing this, everyone understood the realm they were currently in. Sheng Yuan was quite curious about the higher realms and asked:
"What is your current realm? Does cultivating in the new realm take longer?"
Aside people from the Kunlun Mountains, everyone else was equally curious.
Seeing that everyone wanted to know, Jun Wu Xiao didn’t want to keep it secret. He explained:
"After I broke through to a new realm, I made another breakthrough. This breakthrough was similar to the minor realm breakthroughs in the body refinement realm. My overall strength increased by a third, and my bones were further strengthened. Indeed, the cultivation time has become longer than before. It took me about eighteen years and nine months to break through, and I used to cultivate sixteen hours a day in the body refinement realm. After this breakthrough, I began cultivating sixteen hours a day."
Sheng Yuan nodded, understanding that the longer time required was reasonable because breaking through to higher realms demands more energy. She said:
"It makes sense that the cultivation time would increase. But it’s not unreasonable since it also added a hundred years to your lifespan."
The other three nodded in agreement, for them, reaching further required paying a higher price, so this seemed utterly reasonable.
Jun Wu Xiao, seeing that the discussion about cultivation was complete, thought to change the subject to something lighter. He said:
"By the way, Sheng Yuan, Zhu Ji Feng, Yan Meng Long. How long have you three known Chu Wu?"
Sheng Yuan thought for a moment and then answered:
"About twenty years ago, Chu Wu was injured during a campaign and I helped him recover."
"The two of us met Chu Wu a few years after her. We were out having fun, met him, and found him quite interesting so we just followed him." the other two added.
After hearing Sheng Yuan’s story, Jun Wu Xiao smiled and looked at Chu Wu, who realized that something was up. He was sure Jun Wu Xiao was plotting to tease him.
True to his suspicions, Jun Wu Xiao said:
"Was Sheng Yuan meeting Chu Wu a case of the legendary beauty saving the hero? Ah no, should it be called a beauty saving an old geezer?"
Everyone burst into laughter. Dao San Qian chuckled and said:
"Ha... ha ha ha. I’ve heard of ’hero saving a beauty.’ Never heard of ’beauty saving an old geezer.’"
Chu Wu’s face darkened, but as everyone was speaking the truth, he couldn’t argue back.
Jun Wu Xiao continued teasing:
"And you, Chu Wu. As far as I remember, Sheng Yuan was just over twenty years old at that time, and you were already over eighty. How could you shamelessly deceive such a young girl?"
When Chu Wu heard that, an extremely unfair look appeared on his face, and he screamed in his heart:
"I didn’t have the guts to deceive her. She was the one who offered to become my Path companion first. Damn it, now I’m blamed for everything. The world is unfair."
He knew that anything he said now would just sound like an excuse in front of Jun Wu Xiao. He cast a pleading look towards Sheng Yuan to speak up for him.
Sheng Yuan laughed when she saw him so helpless for the first time. Yet, she would still help him, after all, he was her Path companion. She said:
"Ha ha, no, he didn’t deceive me. He didn’t have the guts to do that. At that time, I was already in the early stage of the body refinement realm while he was just a normal old man. After some time together, I found him quite interesting and not long after, he also made a breakthrough, so I then invited him to be my Path companion. It’s similar to Yue Guang and Jun Wu Xiao now."
Jun Wu Xiao initially seemed a bit surprised but hearing the part about Yue Guang and himself, he was no longer surprised. Yet, he still wanted to tease Chu Wu, he said:
"So that’s how it is. I understand now. It seems our gallant General Chu Wu is also just an ineffectual old geezer in front of Sheng Yuan."
Chu Wu’s face turned utterly dark, unable to refute. He couldn’t fight her since neither of them had the same interest in fighting as Yue Guang and Jun Wu Xiao.
Jun Wu Xiao not yet willing to stop, he continued:
"You really are powerless, aren’t you? Over twenty years and still no children. You... not good ~"
Chu Wu’s face, already dark, turned even darker, but then he realized this was an opportunity to retort. He retorted:
"Huh, don’t play dumb with me. Do cultivators even have the ability to reproduce? Reproduction is the ability of normal beings, but after a breakthrough, many things inside our bodies change. Don’t say twenty years; even in two hundred years, neither you nor Yue Guang could ever have children."
Jun Wu Xiao was momentarily speechless, realizing his error. Indeed, he knew this fact but had spoken without thinking.
"Hmph, you may be right, but not entirely. Depending on what you define as having children, there might still be other ways. Perhaps when I’m strong enough to create beings, that will also be my offspring." Jun Wu Xiao said.
Chu Wu scoffed disdainfully:
"You know I wasn’t talking about that. Let’s not argue anymore, let’s eat first."
By then, the food had been served, and the seven of them meaningless ceased their trivial debates and began their meal.
