Chapter 22: Dao San Qian
Chapter 22: Dao San Qian
Setting aside the fact that he does not have his own Path, Jun Wu Xiao looked towards the young man. Originally, he had intended to take on disciples, but now he no longer wished to do so.
Seeing that Jun Wu Xiao did not continue to question, the young man also remained silent, waiting for the outcome. Suddenly, Jun Wu Xiao said:
"I have been speaking to you, yet I still do not know your name. My name is Jun Wu Xiao, and she is Yue Guang."
The young man then looked at the young woman standing beside him. Since meeting Jun Wu Xiao, the youth had only paid attention to him and not her. Now looking at her, he also felt she was very special, just not as special as when he saw Jun Wu Xiao.
"Ah, my name is Dao San Qian." the young man said.
Jun Wu Xiao nodded and then said:
"Dao San Qian, indeed, I had intended to accept you as a disciple, but now I no longer wish to do so."
Hearing this, Dao San Qian felt very disappointed, as if what he had long awaited had just slipped past him, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Seeing his expression, Jun Wu Xiao laughed and said:
"Ha ha, why be disappointed? I haven’t finished speaking yet. I said I do not want to take you as a disciple because I feel it’s too unreasonable. You have told me about the Path, something I had never considered. In a way, you could also be considered my teacher. Now, I will teach you how to cultivate as a way to even things out. Would you like to be my friend and cultivate together?"
Dao San Qian was stunned for a moment. At first, he had only wanted to be a disciple of Jun Wu Xiao. He did not expect that by explaining about the Path a bit, he would become a friend of Jun Wu Xiao. However, he did not feel displeased. Instead, he felt very happy with Jun Wu Xiao’s decision. He laughed and said:
"Ha ha ha, good. Then from now on, I will be your friend."
Initially, he had addressed Jun Wu Xiao as a senior because the other was older, but now that they were friends, he no longer needed to use such formalities.
"Good, good, good. Oh, do you have a home? If not, come cultivate with me." Jun Wu Xiao said.
Dao San Qian replied:
"I do have a home, but my parents passed away long ago, so I don’t have any relatives left. Now, I can follow you and cultivate, and as for that house, it doesn’t matter anymore."
"Good, then come with me. Oh, and right now we are on our way to the capital city, not back to the place of cultivation." Jun Wu Xiao said.
Hearing this, Dao San Qian also felt a bit curious, and he said:
"It doesn’t matter where we go. But why are you heading to the capital city?"
"I’m going to meet a friend. Eleven years ago, I promised to meet him and also help him kidnap an emperor." Jun Wu Xiao replied.
If anyone else heard this, they would likely be astonished to the point of dropping their jaws. But kidnapping an emperor seemed like a simple matter to Jun Wu Xiao.
Dao San Qian was also extremely surprised, feeling that his journey to the capital city might indeed prove to be quite interesting. He said:
"Good. When do we leave, and are you all walking to the capital city? If you don’t have horses, I can find some for you."
Jun Wu Xiao shook his head and said:
"We don’t need horses because our speed is not inferior to horses. But you might need one since you are, after all, a regular person."
Dao San Qian nodded, feeling that it was natural for the two of them to be strong and capable of extraordinary feats. He said:
"Good. Oh, is the lady standing next to you your wife?"
At first, he had this thought, but he also felt it was somewhat inappropriate. He saw Jun Wu Xiao looking like a beggar, while the woman beside him seemed like a celestial maiden. But both of them are cultivators so this is not impossible.
This time, not only Jun Wu Xiao but also Yue Guang were stunned for a few seconds. Jun Wu Xiao immediately said:
"No, she is my friend, and also a fellow cultivator with me."
"I see, but that makes more sense. Anyone looking at you would think you do not match her." Dao San Qian said.
Jun Wu Xiao looked at him ’affectionately’ and said:
"Oh? Can you explain why I am not worthy?"
Although Dao San Qian was a little shaken, he was not afraid. On the contrary, he asked in a joking tone:
"You ask that as if you have feelings for her?"
Jun Wu Xiao was startled by the question. He had no such feelings for Yue Guang. He just wanted to know why he was deemed unworthy, as for him, this was Dao San Qian criticizing him. He wanted to know where he fell short so he could improve.
Not only Dao San Qian but Yue Guang was also drawn into the question and then looked towards Jun Wu Xiao.
Being stared at by both made Jun Wu Xiao feel odd, and he said:
"Why are you two looking at me like that? I have no intentions. I’m just curious to know where I am lacking."
Hearing Jun Wu Xiao’s query, Dao San Qian quickly responded:
"How do you not know this? You look like a beggar and she looks like a fairy. Even think with a toe could know that you don’t match her."
Jun Wu Xiao looked down at his clothes and then at Yue Guang. Indeed, as Dao San Qian had said, but how could he have cared about such matters? To him, what mattered was that the clothes were still wearable.
"Haiz, it’s true that my current appearance isn’t appealing. But that’s easy to change. Previously, since I didn’t bring any other clothes, I had to wear them. And after fighting with Yue Guang over twenty times, they turned into this tattered state." Jun Wu Xiao explained.
Dao San Qian became more curious, not knowing what kind of fighting they did that could ruin clothes to such an extent. He asked:
"How exactly do you two fight?"
Both of them simultaneously responded:
"As long as we don’t die, it’s fine."
Dao San Qian’s eyes widened, having assumed their fights would be normal. But these friends of his were anything but ordinary, fighting to such an extent that he would immediately decline if ever invited.
Suddenly, he felt something was off, he was worried that he would be dragged to fight with the two of them in the future. He said:
"Wait a minute. Are you saying you actually fought her to near death before stopping?"
Jun Wu Xiao candidly answered:
"Of course. We fight each other, not play with each other. When we fight, we give it our all."
During their time in Kunlun Mountain, there were occasions when Yue Guang’s realm was equal to Jun Wu Xiao’s. But only for a short time, as they had agreed to fight once every six months, and the fights weren’t always when their realms were equal, so Yue Guang never actually fought on equal terms with Jun Wu Xiao.
"That’s right. If you hold back in a fight, it’s like you’re just playing around. It wouldn’t be interesting at all." Yue Guang added.
Hearing them, Dao San Qian gave up, realizing he did not share this hobby with them. He didn’t mind fighting, but it wasn’t his preference.
"Haiz, never mind. Later on, he absolutely asked me to fight with you two, I don’t have that hobby. You two wait here for a bit, I’ll go prepare the horses and then we can head to the capital city." Dao San Qian said.
A while later, he returned, and the three of them set off towards the capital city.
