Chapter 152: The Uses of Ginseng
Chapter 152: The Uses of Ginseng
Not long after, Jun Wu Xiao returned, holding a bag in his hand which he handed to the old man. He said:
"Here are the items you wanted: nine from monsters six meters tall, and one from a monster nine meters tall."
The old man glanced at them and quickly confirmed their authenticity because they matched the recorded descriptions. Moreover, knowing Jun Wu Xiao’s identity, these were undoubtedly genuine.
He took a box containing a ginseng root out from his belongings and said:
"Thank you, this is yours."
"Thank you." Jun Wu Xiao nodded and replied.
Having obtained what he needed, the old man said:
"I won’t disturb you any longer, I shall take my leave now."
With that, the old man left, taking his people with him. The two remaining individuals also left shortly after.
Today’s auction had many prominent families speculating that a significant figure had participated. They weren’t foolish, the final item wasn’t something an ordinary person could afford.
There were only two possibilities: either it was the court or the Guardian God who appeared today. But suspicions were just suspicions; they would need to investigate further. However, it would be difficult to find out because the list of attendees would never be leaked and would be destroyed immediately after the auction ended.
.....
At this time, Jun Wu Xiao and Gu Zhou Jian had returned home. She said:
"Take out that ginseng root and have a look."
Jun Wu Xiao nodded and opened the box containing the ginseng root. As soon as he sniffed it, he sensed that this ginseng was unusual. He focused his mind to examine it a bit.
As expected, the density of dark energy within the ginseng was quite high, though still slightly inferior to a monster core.
Suddenly, he discovered something surprising and laughed, saying:
"Ha ha, so that’s it. It seems this is just a coincidence, this ginseng happened to be slightly unusual."
Gu Zhou Jian still not fully understanding, asked:
"You mean that by some coincidence, this ginseng has the ability to absorb dark energy like a cultivator?"
Jun Wu Xiao nodded but then shook his head, saying:
"Yes, but not exactly. It absorbs energy passively, not like cultivating. Furthermore, its strength doesn’t increase, but its utility is enhanced. You could consider it a gift of nature."
"I see. Hey, why don’t you try a piece and see how effective it is." Gu Zhou Jian suggested.
He had intended to do so, so without hesitation, he broke off a small piece of the ginseng and put it in his mouth. He focused on evaluating the specific effects of the ginseng.
After a while of analyzing, he said:
"It does indeed accelerate the healing process, but for cultivators from the bone forging realm and above, it’s not very effective. However, it is still quite beneficial for those in the body refinement realm. It doesn’t increase cultivation but is excellent for healing."
Gu Zhou Jian wasn’t disappointed upon hearing this. After all, she hadn’t intended to seek shortcuts or anything similar in the first place. Why look for shortcuts when there is already a clear path to follow? Though challenging, her willpower, determination, and unconventional thinking were no less than Jun Wu Xiao’s, so there was nothing to fear.
"I don’t intend to find a quick way to boost my cultivation. By the way, can I have the ginseng? You can’t use it, and neither can the others. Among all of us, I’m the weakest." Gu Zhou Jian said.
Jun Wu Xiao didn’t think much and threw the ginseng box to her. He said:
"I bought it out of curiosity. If you like it, it’s yours. I believe there are more ginseng roots like this in the world."
"Maybe, but it’s not too important for us. I think only wealthy and powerful ordinary people would hunt for these things because it’s truly a treasure for the path they’ve chosen. Anyway, I’m going back to cultivating. Tang Hao sent a message saying to meet in two years, so I think there’s nothing else to do for now. If there’s an auction next year, we can choose to go or not." Gu Zhou Jian said.
Then she returned to her room to continue cultivating. Jun Wu Xiao did the same, a bit of fun was enough for him. He was always clear about what to prioritize and what to take his time with.
.....
At this time, Tang Hao was sitting in his room planning how to deal with Jun Wu Xiao. Previously, he had wanted to kill him out of hatred, but now he wanted to kill him for the bright future he envisioned.
As for what Gu Zhou Jian might do with Jun Wu Xiao in the next two years, he didn’t care. As long as she didn’t destroy the Tang family, he was willing to forgive her for anything. This was a typical case of blind love, ready to die for love. He seemed quite pitiful, but it was his choice to fall for someone unusual, so what could he expect?
"In the northeastern area of the family’s territory on the eastern continent, there’s still some vacant land. I might as well take this opportunity to build a temporary military base there. Oh, and I also need to get permission to bring in some high-damage weapons. Luckily, I have evidence, so it should be easy to resolve." Tang Hao thought.
He then contacted his subordinates to prepare, and personally went to handle the important tasks.
Fighting on the eastern continent was similar to dynasties leading troops to invade other countries. Therefore, setting up a defense system wasn’t weird.
On the eastern continent, the leaders of various territories being called kings, emperors, or lords was accurate. The court didn’t quibble about that, but if they returned to the main continent, they had to adhere to the proper rules.
Another rule was that they weren’t allowed to destroy their own defense systems when they saw they were about to lose. The court established this rule to prevent a wasteful loss of resources.
As for high-level cultivators, when the time came, they would find any empty land to fight. After all, when elephants fight, it’s the grass that suffers. They were like walking bombs, so how could they fight in crowded places?
