Chapter 149: An Encounter with Tang Hao
The middle-aged man wore a deeply unpleasant expression as he looked at Gu Zhou Jian and scolded:
"Can’t you watch where you’re going? You bumped into me and didn’t even apologize."
Gu Zhou Jian thought about it and realized that she had indeed not been paying attention to her path. She said:
"Sorry."
Then, the two of them continued on their way, not giving the man another thought. However, his face remained just as unpleasant, as if he were taking his anger out on them. He said:
"Is a sorry enough? You dirtied my clothes; you need to compensate me. And your apology doesn’t seem sincere at all."
Hearing this, they both felt slightly annoyed. Although they were generally easygoing, they didn’t appreciate someone nagging incessantly. Jun Wu Xiao said:
"You say your clothes are dirty because of some dust, right?"
"So what if they are?" the man huffed.
Jun Wu Xiao nodded, thinking it would be easier to deal with if the man admitted it. He said:
"In that case, try walking and avoiding all the dust in the air for me. If you can’t, it means you dirtied your own clothes, not us."
The man turned purple with rage upon hearing this and yelled:
"Do you know who I am?"
But at that moment, his brain seemed to kick back into gear. He thought:
"Oh no, I lost my temper and caused trouble. There’s no one ordinary at this auction. These young people must be direct descendants of powerful families. Oh my god, I’m doomed. If I get out of this alive, I need to enroll in a course on self-control immediately."
He acted decisively, dropping to his knees and bowing his head, saying:
"I’m truly sorry. I lost my temper and caused you trouble. Please forgive me."
At this point, both Jun Wu Xiao and Gu Zhou Jian were filled with confusion. He turned to her and said:
"Hey, is he crazy or something?"
She didn’t know how else to describe the man in front of them and nodded, saying:
"Seems like it."
"If you’re crazy, then get out of here and stop bothering us." Jun Wu Xiao said.
The man was overjoyed as if he’d struck gold. He quickly said:
"Yes, I’ll leave immediately."
The two of them continued to their seats, no longer paying attention to the madman. This area had many small rooms arranged close together. Entering one of the rooms, they found only a chair with a small control panel screen on it. Jun Wu Xiao looked at it for a moment and asked:
"This chair is a bit strange. What is that screen for?"
"Oh, that’s for placing bids during the auction." Gu Zhou Jian explained.
Jun Wu Xiao nodded but was still a bit confused, so he asked:
"But what if someone places a random bid?"
"Didn’t you notice that they gave us seat numbers earlier? To receive an invitation, one must provide the maximum amount of money they can use and prove it. Additionally, they must sit in the assigned seat. If they sit randomly, they will be severely punished." Gu Zhou Jian explained.
Jun Wu Xiao now understood the numerous procedures involved, though he hadn’t experienced them himself. He looked at her, but before he could ask, she already knew what he was thinking. Gu Zhou Jian said:
"You want to ask why you didn’t have to go through those procedures, right? Do you think a Bone Forging Realm cultivator is as common as vegetables in the market? Cultivators at this level are highly respected by the world. Earning money is easy for them. Just joining a powerful family would naturally provide wealth."
"Is that so? It seems cultivators do have quite the reputation." Jun Wu Xiao said.
"Hmph, high-level cultivators naturally have credibility. Do you not understand what kind of people they are?" Gu Zhou Jian snorted.
She knew full well that Jun Wu Xiao wasn’t unfamiliar with the character of high-level cultivators. They might all be somewhat similar, but no matter who they were, they adhered strictly to the rules.
"Alright, let’s find our seats." Jun Wu Xiao said.
The two of them continued searching for their seats, which took a while due to the crowd. As they neared their seating area, they suddenly encountered someone familiar.
This person was none other than Tang Hao, who had also come to attend the auction today.
Seeing the two of them together made Tang Hao feel disappointed, but Jun Wu Xiao felt the opposite. He ran over cheerfully and greeted:
"Tang Hao, long time no see. When are you planning to sign the agreement to fight me?"
This friendly greeting sounded like mockery to Tang Hao. He took a deep breath, then smiled and replied:
"Ha ha, are you in such a hurry? We can sign the agreement right now if you want."
There were many people around, and as an heir, his behavior represented the reputation of the Tang family. He couldn’t let his anger ruin their image.
Gu Zhou Jian, familiar with Tang Hao’s temperament, said to Jun Wu Xiao:
"Don’t provoke him."
"I’m not provoking him. I’m genuinely saying hello." he replied honestly.
He had no intention of teasing Tang Hao. After all, he respected him. Respecting someone who wants to kill you might sound odd to most, but Jun Wu Xiao wasn’t ordinary.
Tang Hao barely managed to keep his composure, cursing internally:
"Damn it, what kind of show are you two putting on for me?"
Despite his internal swearing, he maintained a smiling facade and asked:
"So when do you want to fight? And where?"
He no longer addressed Jun Wu Xiao as ’senior’ because he now regarded him as an enemy. Since they were going to fight anyway, there was no need to be overly polite.
Jun Wu Xiao thought for a moment. He didn’t have many preferences. When it was time to fight, they’d just fight. He said:
"Two years from now. As for the rest, you can arrange it. Choose whatever method and preparations you like."
"Agreed." Tang Hao nodded.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a notification. He opened it to see a video from Gu Zhou Jian, capturing their earlier conversation.
"This evidence ensures he can’t deny it later." Gu Zhou Jian said.
Tang Hao was a bit incredulous. He asked:
"What exactly is your relationship with him? Do you want him dead that badly?"
"You don’t need to know that, but if you manage to kill him, I’ll grant you one request without any conditions." Gu Zhou Jian said.
Tang Hao’s eyes lit up with determination, the fervor of youth reigniting. He said:
"You better not go back on your word."
"Guaranteed 100%." she nodded and replied.
