Chapter 135: Going to the Supermarket

Jun Wu Xiao carried the motorcycle as he followed Gu Zhou Jian to the gas station. The two of them walking down the street drew quite a lot of attention. It’s not unreasonable either, as normal people buy motorbikes to ride them, not to carry them while walking.

He wasn’t blind, so he could see the curious stares from everyone around. He said:

"I thought there were already many cultivators in this era. Is it that strange for me to be carrying a motorcycle?"

"It’s true that there are many more than in the past, but compared to the overall population of humanity, it’s still not significant. Only about 1% of the world’s population are cultivators, and almost all of them are in the early stage of the body refinement realm. These people have a certain level of knowledge about modern society, so they aren’t much different from ordinary people. It’s only the high-level cultivators who, after closing off for decades to cultivate, have some strange behaviors and can’t keep up with the times." Gu Zhou Jian explained.

Jun Wu Xiao understood now. It was simply because he was outdated and his actions were unusual, which drew attention. He said:

"It doesn’t matter. Back in the day, after that battle with the monsters, humans even built temples to worship me. I’m not afraid of drawing attention because, anyway, no human now can hinder my cultivation."

"Do as you wish. If you don’t see it as a problem, then it’s fine." Gu Zhou Jian said.

By this time, they had reached the gas station. Jun Wu Xiao looked at the gasoline with curiosity and remarked:

"This must be a fuel, right?"

"That’s right. Well done, kid." Gu Zhou Jian clapped her hands in praise.

Hearing this, Jun Wu Xiao’s face darkened, and he said:

"Who’s a kid? I’m over two hundred years older than you."

"Hehe, but you know nothing about the modern world, so aren’t you just like a child? Calling you a kid is quite appropriate." she laughed and replied.

He disagreed with this comparison and said:

"You’re twisting concepts. Who calls someone lacking knowledge a child?"

"Oh, then what should they be called?" she asked.

"Um, they are... they’re just... uninformed. Forget it, where are we going now?" he said.

"Um, it’s... it’s just... uneducated? No, forget it, where are we going now?" he said.

"Do you want to go to the supermarket?" Gu Zhou Jian suggested.

"What’s a supermarket?" Jun Wu Xiao asked.

Hearing this, she was surprised because supermarkets had existed in the world for a long time:

"A supermarket is a large retail market that sells food, household items, and other goods, usually operating on a self-service basis. It has been around for a very long time. You’ve lived for more than two hundred years and have never been to a supermarket?"

Jun Wu Xiao nodded and said:

"Indeed, I’ve lived for over two hundred years, but since I reached the middle stage of the body refinement realm, I’ve been eating leaves instead of regular food. I had no reason to go to a supermarket."

"Then get on the bike, I’ll take you." Gu Zhou Jian said.

The two of them then set off for the supermarket, and soon they arrived. She drove the bike down to the underground parking lot, which puzzled Jun Wu Xiao. He asked:

"Why are we going down here? Isn’t the supermarket up there?"

"Are you kidding? I’m obviously parking the bike. Or do you expect me to take this motorbike inside to shop?" Gu Zhou Jian said.

Jun Wu Xiao started to find this contraption exceedingly inconvenient for him. Without much thought, he said:

"You can put this bike away, sell it, or throw it away. From now on, if we need to go somewhere, I’ll carry you. I don’t need a parking spot, I don’t run out of gas, I can go over any terrain, and I can even fly if needed. Clearly, I’m more convenient than this motorbike."

Having a new mode of transportation stunned Gu Zhou Jian for a moment, but she didn’t refuse because he was indeed more convenient. She said:

"Alright, then after we finish shopping, you can carry both me and the motorbike back to my house."

"No problem, it’s very light anyway." he nodded and said.

They then went to the elevator to go up to the supermarket. Jun Wu Xiao saw the metal doors in front of him and curiously asked:

"What is this? Some kind of staircase?"

"When you step inside, it will either lift you up or lower you down, depending on the floor you choose." she explained.

After a moment, the doors opened, and they stepped inside, selecting the floor to go up. At this point, he had a sudden thought:

"If I now connect with dark energy to fix myself in space, the elevator would break. Ah, no, I am not someone who likes to destroy things."

Since that day, dark energy had enveloped everything on Earth. It was present even in atoms but did not affect them.

Dark energy was present everywhere in the world. Jun Wu Xiao had once tested a rock and found no dark energy in it. He meant that dark energy wasn’t like the kind within his body or the core of a monster, but rather the basic form of dark energy, which existed everywhere.

When Jun Wu Xiao flew, the cells on the surface of his body and the dark energy connected to them underwent slight changes, allowing him to interact with both dark energy and matter.

A few seconds later, they arrived at the supermarket. Jun Wu Xiao looked at the array of strange items displayed before him.

These strange items included: televisions, refrigerators, irons, washing machines, gaming consoles, headphones, and many other things.

Seeing him staring blankly at everything, Gu Zhou Jian laughed:

"Haha, you look so lost and confused. Just buy whatever you like. I have money."

Jun Wu Xiao didn’t know what to buy. He was genuinely curious about everything, but if asked whether he needed any of it, the answer would be no. He asked:

"You must have these things at home, right?"

"Probably, since I don’t lack money." she said.

"Then I don’t need to buy anything. But I thought your family’s assets were all taken over by the Tang family." he asked.

"For that, I have to thank Tang Hao. He let me keep all the assets that belonged to me, so I can say confidently that I don’t lack money." Gu Zhou Jian said.

She had no reason to hide anything. She didn’t love Tang Hao, but she didn’t hate him either. However, his stubbornness with unrequited love was something she couldn’t handle.

Tang Hao followed the path of a human, while she chose the path of cultivation. The two of them could never be together because their paths were different. Later, when even Tang Hao’s ashes were gone, she would still be in seclusion, cultivating.
