Chapter 491: 0491 It’s a pity she didn’t see you_1
Ellen Young looked at the portrait, her mind pondering various things.
Ruffy Smith’s mother passed away too soon, and his background had a bit in common with her own.
However, she had parents but it was as if she had none, raised by her grandfather since childhood, and later continuing her studies year after year. Besides her grandfather, deep down Ellen felt quite indifferent towards family affection.
Only her grandfather would often say in her ear that it’s always better for children to have their parents.
Children who grow up with their parents are always different.
She looked at the photo with its bright colors, thinking that if the person were still alive, she would likely be someone Ellen would enjoy spending time with.
Some people you can tell whether you’d get along with just by their appearance.
"Ellen?"
There was a faint voice from downstairs.
It was Ruffy’s.
He had only just left.
Ellen turned her head and responded, "In your bedroom."
Probably having heard her voice, Ruffy quickly came upstairs, entering with a glass of juice in hand, just in time to see Ellen standing in front of his mother’s portrait.
He merely glanced at it indifferently, not saying anything, and handed the juice to Ellen, "You’re here alone, I was afraid you might be thirsty."
Ellen took it and sipped gently, "I’m fine."
She looked at the portrait on the wall, and as if to confirm, she asked, "Is that your mother?"
"Yeah."
Ruffy had no qualms about it and looked at the portrait, saying naturally, "My dad painted it when my mom was still alive."
Ellen complimented, "Your uncle has great painting skills."
"It’s because my mom was beautiful, any painting of her would be beautiful," Ruffy laughed softly, "Do I look a lot like my mom?"
He didn’t shy away from talking about his mother, but his eyes still dimmed slightly.
He rarely talked about these matters in front of others, especially regarding his mother.
As a child, he had some trouble because of these issues, and those sympathetic gazes are something he could never forget for the rest of his life.
However, as he grew up, these matters gradually faded.
Nobody dared to casually mention his mother in front of him.
But in front of Ellen, he held back nothing.
"Very much so."
Ellen’s voice was clear and light, yet there was a strange kind of poignant clarity, "Your aunt was very pretty."
The smile on Ruffy’s lips broadened, "It’s a pity..."
His eyes darkened for a moment, "If she saw you..."
In the end, he left it unsaid.
If she could have seen with her own eyes Ruffy finding someone as good as Ellen to be his girlfriend, she would probably have been overjoyed.
Ruffy was just not very comfortable with others talking about his mother, and since he never had the chance to be with her, there was a certain detachment in his bones towards her, yet occasionally, he still missed her.
Because no matter what, compared to Ellen, he felt much more fortunate.
At least his dad really had nothing to complain about.
These were thoughts he could never voice out loud. Leaving the juice behind, he smiled and said, "You can look around here first, or if you’re interested, you can come down too, we’re in the lobby."
There were definitely many people who wanted to see Ellen, but the news had not been announced yet.
And Ruffy didn’t quite like Ellen interacting with others in front of him.
Those people always seemed to have a covetous look towards Ellen.
After all, his Ellen was so outstanding, it was certain that many people would be enviously eyeing her.
Ellen nodded, "I know, you go ahead."
Ruffy reached out and touched Ellen’s cheek, "Remember to come down for lunch."
