Chapter 478: Suspected of falsifying his thesis_1

In other words, Theodore Hailey either stole someone else’s work, or he bought it.

Among them, only one part of a fragment incorporated Theodore Hailey’s own style. Overall, it seemed he did have genuine knowledge and skills, but not up to the level of winning an award.

Even though, for Ellen Young, that award was but a trivial prize.

But for an ordinary student, it would be the ultimate honor.

She deduced all this information that very night, and she couldn’t find the original thesis online either, which meant the likelihood of the thesis being purchased was high.

The reason why Ellen Young was so certain of this was because such incidents were actually not uncommon in the academic world.

Even professors have been known to illegally steal outstanding theses and theories from students. These acts are of such a serious nature that getting caught would mean ruin and disgrace. Not many would dare to do it, but that doesn’t mean it never happens.

That’s why Ellen Young knew about it.

Hadton University had even faced such a scandal a few years back.

The professor involved had stolen a student’s award-winning thesis and published it in a prestigious journal, causing a sensation. Ultimately, it turned out that the thesis was entirely written by the student, who had even attempted suicide due to the professor’s suppression but was fortunately saved.

When the scandal broke, it caused a furore for a while. It hadn’t affected Ellen Young, who was immersed in her experiments at the time, but she had heard about it.

Consequently, as soon as Theodore Hailey’s case came to light, she immediately thought of similar incidents.

If such an incident had truly occurred—of course, it would be best to handle it quietly. Once it got out, it would reflect poorly on Andalu University.

Logically speaking, Ellen Young didn’t want to put Andalu in the spotlight over such a grave matter. Given the seriousness of the situation, the school could not possibly be involved; it was most likely Theodore Hailey’s own doing. But the question was, where did he conduct these activities?

His ability to naturally plagiarize others’ theories from forums also suggested that this was not his first time doing such things.

Ellen Young stopped these thoughts for the moment as she didn’t have concrete evidence. Merely judging Theodore Hailey’s thesis to be problematic based on her professional assessment wasn’t enough to convince Andalu. Such a significant matter required incontrovertible proof, so she didn’t communicate with the school first but rather made a call to Clinton White.

"Why are you calling me instead of going on a date with Ruffy Smith this late at night?"

Clinton White’s reaction to Ellen Young’s call was somewhat sarcastic, as he was well aware of her evening activities, including her movie date with Ruffy Smith.

Because that bastard Ruffy Smith had bragged about it in an Instagram story.

Of course, he hadn’t made it public. He simply posted a veiled Instagram story expressing his joy that day and tagged Clinton White to share it.

Did Clinton White not understand the insinuation?

He nearly spat out blood right there and almost had a blatant fallout with Ruffy Smith on Instagram.

One was the son of a consortium tycoon, the other the second-in-command; both were celebrities who cared about their reputation. That’s how Clinton White consoled himself.

Ellen Young didn’t care about Clinton White’s sarcasm as she had pressing matters to address. She paused for a moment before saying, "I need you to investigate someone from Andalu University, a computer science student named Theodore Hailey. Today, the official blog of Andalu University posted a video of his speech."

She didn’t need to explain much, Clinton White understood immediately, but was somewhat surprised, "Do you know this person?"

"Not really."
